They looked so cute, all fluffy and cuddly. Haitang looked at the livestock pen and saw four or five different kinds of animals, but none of them were actually kept. That made sense, since they had just started a family and wouldn't have so many animals so quickly.
However, if Haitang walks a short distance away, there is a house made of mud bricks with a thatched roof. There are cured meats, pork legs, and lamb legs hanging on the roof.
There were quite a few hanging there, enough for the two of them to eat for a month or two. When Haitang looked at them, she went to check the cellar. There were a lot of things piled up in the cellar, including some sweet potatoes and several jars. Haitang went over and saw that they were honey.
They treated her like a child, going wherever there was honey. Haitang shook her head and climbed directly into the cellar. There were no vegetables or wheat in the house, but there was plenty of hay.
The hay was all brought back by Dongfanglong to feed the foals and the pigs behind them. Sometimes the pigs were given leftovers and scraps.
"Tangtang... I caught some fish today, let's make fish soup." Haitang looked at Dongfang Long with a bit of a puzzlement when he returned.
"Where did you catch it? Even if the river isn't frozen, there shouldn't be any fish there, right?" There are frozen areas along the riverbank, but there have been several times when the water was still warm and not frozen. She didn't know why.
"Up on the mountain, when I went up, I saw a place with a cave entrance. After climbing down, I saw a small pond with fish in it. I even swam down to take a look, and it was twice my depth." Dongfang Long gestured.
After bringing back two fish, Haitang nodded. She always carried the fish-killing knife with her, so she started killing the fish. Dongfanglong sometimes helped her. "By the way, Tangtang, I planted some herbs behind the house and covered them with grass to prevent them from freezing."
"Oh, when did you plant it?" Haitang asked, and Dongfang Long immediately smiled.
“When the house was built, I felt that Tangtang would come sooner or later, so I planted the chili peppers. I picked them outside, dried them, and put them in a jar,” Dongfang Long said.
"What do you want to eat? Dad brought us some pickled cabbage and some flour." Shi Hu was also worried that Haitang had nothing to eat at the moment, so he brought a big vat of flour, along with sweet potato noodles and some pickled cabbage.
"Let's eat pickled fish," Dongfang Long said immediately. Haitang nodded and started cooking. Dongfang Long followed closely beside Haitang, who watched him.
"Don't be like that, you're blocking my way." Dongfang Long immediately nodded and walked away. "Xiaolong, let's go into the mountains tomorrow and see what we can gather. There are plenty of fruits in winter too."
"Hmm." Dongfang Long nodded upon hearing this. He wasn't in a hurry to go hunting, as there was enough meat at home. Tangtang didn't seem to have a big appetite for meat, so she ate it all by herself.
After Dongfang Long and Haitang finished, they immediately started tidying up the things inside. While Haitang was tidying up, Dongfang Long immediately helped.
Dongfang Long looked at Haitang and said that the arrangement on the other side of the courtyard immediately got busy. After it was done, he sat alone in the courtyard and began to polish the stone.
"What are you doing?" Haitang watched as the other person polished a stone brick. It wasn't a stone brick, but just a huge rock, so it didn't need to be polished smooth.
"Where should we put it? If we're having a barbecue, we can just use it as a table." He said, looking at the crabapple tree. "I can bury the protruding part in the ground."
"Hmm, good idea. Doesn't your hand hurt? Why don't you wear gloves while you're doing this?" Upon hearing this, Dongfang Long immediately shook his head; the gloves were too nice to wear.
“Sister…” Xingxing and Yueyue ran to see Haitang, and Xiaohe ran over too. “Sister, we brought you some things.” Yueyue was carrying a basket. “Sister, these are lychees. Dad said there are too many at home that we can’t finish them all, and there are also…”
As she was speaking, "egg..." Hearing this, Haitang felt a little helpless.
“I have some at home, no need to bring it, you’re still growing,” Haitang said, but Xingxing and Yueyue immediately shook their heads.
"No, my sister doesn't have many eggs at home. She also has a lot of eggs, as well as chicks and hens, all of which she takes good care of. We brought these to her as a way of returning them to her."
Upon hearing this, Haitang looked at it, and Yueyue took it to the livestock area. The chicken coop just happened to be big enough to surround the whole coop, so she threw it in. There was also grass inside.
Haitang looked at the eggs and asked, "Have you eaten?" She looked at the two children, but before they could answer, they ran away. As they ran away, Haitang realized that Xingxing and Yueyue were worried about her.
She didn't want to come to her house for a meal. To be honest, she was a little touched and felt sorry for the two obedient children.
As Dongfang Long looked at her, he said, "After Tangtang has more things to give me, I will return to her." Dongfang Long nodded.
Then I watched as the other person started polishing. The stones collided with each other, and it didn't feel like it was polished quickly; the wear and tear was also significant.
After watching Dongfang Long polish the stone, Haitang had to clean up the rubble. After Dongfang Long finished cleaning, he went to wash his hands. Under these circumstances, Haitang cooked a meal for Dongfang Long.
The first day of our marriage wasn't much different, except that it was just the two of us.
At night, Dongfang Long liked to hold Haitang while sleeping, and Haitang let him hold her, because Dongfang Long was like a stove, very warm.
Under such circumstances, Haitang leaned against Dongfang Long and slept well almost every day. Although Dongfang Long was a little unaccustomed to it, he would also fall asleep quickly, probably because his mind was not distracted.
