Chapter 68 Wolf Cubs

At least none of the children in the Tiger Clan were spoiled. After the little beastmen and females in Haitang's family finished their chores, they would all volunteer to go out and help get food.

In such circumstances, life is much easier and more comfortable for females. People tend to follow the example of others; when you are surrounded by certain people, you will do what those people are supposed to do.

When Haitang went to pick rice, she heard a howling sound coming from the valley. Haitang was stunned for a moment, and then the deer immediately blocked her way. "It's a wolf..."

Xiuxiu was also startled, and Changning followed the deer's example and protected her mother, but Xiuxiu quickly pulled her behind her. Haitang nodded, "It's a wolf, but it should be a lone wolf that's injured."

“Let’s go take a look,” Haitang said. Hearing this, Xiuxiu frowned. “Third Aunt, you’re here…”

“I’ll go with you. If something happens to you, my uncle will eat me alive.” Xiuxiu gritted her teeth and said, “Changning, you wait here.”

Changning pursed her lips but obediently nodded. Haitang and the others went over to check and saw a wolf lying not far away, bleeding from its body. It must have been injured last night.

Now on the verge of death, Haitang looked at the other party and saw the wolf cubs not far away. There were several wolf cubs, and the mother wolf immediately bared her teeth and bared her fangs when she saw them.

Seeing the wolf's exhausted state, Haitang understood that the mother wolf had probably fallen for some reason, leaving behind these few wolf pups. There were five pups, but two had died, and the remaining three looked very weak.

When Haitang saw the mother wolf protecting her, she sighed. The mother wolf was beyond saving; the wound on her abdomen was too large, and her intestines were spilling out, a horrifying sight.

Even though it's fierce now, it's just a last struggle, a desperate effort to hold on for its cubs. When Haitang looked at the mother wolf, she said, "I mean no harm. You should know you're about to die. I think you don't want your cubs to die with you, so I can save your cubs."

Hearing this, the mother wolf looked at Haitang. Haitang understood that this was a choice the mother wolf had to make herself. The wild boar would kill her cubs and refuse to let humans raise them. What would the mother wolf do? The mother wolf's gaze was fixed on the dead bodies of the two wolf cubs, her eyes red and swollen.

It cried out incessantly, but collapsed to the ground the next second, lifeless. When Haitang saw this, she couldn't help but feel sad, and Xiuxiu couldn't help but feel heartbroken as well.

Xiuxiu is a mother, and if she encountered such a thing, she would be even more at a loss. Haitang said, "Let's dig a hole and bury it."

Although it was meat, Haitang couldn't bring herself to eat it for a moment. Xiuxiu nodded and started digging a hole. Haitang buried the mother wolf and the wolf cubs, as well as three others.

"This thing can't be tamed." Haitang smiled and reached out to wrap it with her clothes.

"It can be tamed and is very good at guarding the house. Do you want one, Auntie?" Hearing this, Xiuxiu hesitated for a moment before nodding and asking for one after looking at the wolf cub.

Since Haitang had already said she wanted one, she planned to distribute the three Haitangs back home. Haitang fed the wolf cubs some water but didn't give them any meat, as the cubs were still newborns and giving them meat too early might cause digestive problems.

Haitang told Yueyue to take it back, "Yueyue, take it back and let Xiaohe clean it up and make some sweet water for them to drink." Upon hearing this, Yueyue nodded.

"Be careful. If you encounter a wolf, don't abandon the wolf cub." Hearing this, Yueyue nodded. There was a wolf here, and Haitang was afraid that something might happen.

Upon hearing this, Yueyue carried the wolf back and they didn't encounter any wolves. Although Xiaohe didn't know why her sister was raising them, she still obediently did as Haitang arranged.

Haitang picked some rice ears and went back to check on the three wolf cubs. They were all pitifully weak. In this situation, Haitang could only find milk for them. Fortunately, in the pigpen, a doe had given birth to two babies.

Haitang put the wolf cub inside and started feeding it. Xiuxiu came to check on it and said, "Let it stay here for a few days before taking it over."

"Hmm, is it really okay to keep this thing as a pet?" This is a wolf, after all. Hearing this, Haitang smiled. It is indeed a wolf; the ancestors of dogs were also wolves.

"Don't worry, nothing will happen. So what if they're wolves? We'll raise them to be small, tame them, and they'll become obedient and loyal," Haitang said. "I'll teach you that later."

Upon hearing this, Xiuxiu nodded and went straight back. She didn't let anyone know that Haitang was raising wolves. Wolf cubs are very rare, and since she had gotten three this time, she would raise them carefully.

As for giving one to Xiuxiu, it was because they all saw them together, so of course they couldn't keep them all for themselves. When Dongfang Long and the others returned, they frowned and said, "We encountered wolves. Don't go tomorrow."

"It's alright. I think the mother wolf must have been attacked and separated from the group before falling into the valley. Nothing happened today," Haitang said with a smile.

Shi Hu and the others were still worried, so the next day they went to hunt nearby. Shi Shui also went. Shi Hu looked at Shi Shui, and Shi Shui sighed, "These females don't know their own limitations. They even come when they encounter wolves."

"Well... there's nothing I can do..." Shi Hu nodded. He could only hunt here. Although the prey wasn't big enough, he could at least keep an eye on the little guys at home.

Haitang didn't say much about this, knowing that Dongfang Long and the others were worried about her. While they were eating, Shi Hu and the others went down to help. Dongfang Long and Shi Hu looked around and went to see where the wolf had fallen.

“There should be a giant python here.” Dongfang Long said as soon as he returned. Hearing this, Haitang, who was eating, opened her eyes wide. “There are traces of a giant python. The wolf was dragged down by it.”
