Chapter 630: A Story Within a Story
The road ahead is long with wind, snow and moon.
The bumpy truck exuded a sickening diesel smell.
Lin Yiyi hugged the kettle tightly in her arms, but she still couldn't stop shivering. She hadn't eaten for almost a day and her body temperature had dropped significantly.
She wanted to drink another bottle of stolen glucose, but there were only two bottles in total so she didn't dare to drink it.
Without food to provide calories, this cold weather would kill her.
The high beam shone forward, and half of Zhao Sheng's face was hidden in the night. He showed no emotion and nothing unusual.
After the truck drove out of Zhaojia Town, it drove for more than an hour before it stepped on the brakes.
He got off the car nonchalantly, not caring about the snowflakes falling on his shoulders, and strode around to the back of the car to take a nap.
His cold eyes were fixed on the trunk of the car which was covered with waterproof cloth.
The truck stopped suddenly, waking up the drowsy Lin Yiyi.
She held the kettle tighter, holding all her fear in her hands, not daring to make even a sound.
The night was so quiet that the sound of falling snowflakes could be heard clearly, and the sound of splashing water was even more obvious.
Before Lin Yiyi could guess what the sound was, a cold and deep voice came from outside the car, "Get down."
She was discovered.
Lin Yiyi didn't dare to move, still holding on to a chance, she clasped her hands tightly, too scared to even breathe.
"Whatever you want to do, get out of the car now. I'll get in the car and drag you away. You're going to have a hard time tonight."
Zhao Sheng raised his hand and shook it, then zipped up his pants. His cold face showed impatience. If they didn't say anything, he would get in the car and deal with them.
The man's voice outside was frighteningly cold.
Lin Yiyi was so frightened that she didn't dare to answer. She curled up into a ball in fear and tried hard to hide herself.
How could she be so unlucky, ending up in a place for no apparent reason and encountering nothing but bad things?
Zhao Sheng untied the waterproof cloth tied with a rope and took out the dagger from his waist with his backhand.
He opened the flashlight in his trouser pocket with his left hand and shone it inside.
He knew exactly what cargo was in each position of the truck, and there were only a few places where people could hide.
With a somersault, the man jumped directly onto the truck.
The dazzling light left Lin Yiyi nowhere to hide. She blocked the light with her left hand and didn't bother to see who he was.
Zhao Sheng stood in front of her, looking down at the mass at his feet, and said in a cold voice, "Raise your head."
“…”
Lin Yiyi suppressed her fear and moved herself a little closer to the darkness. Perhaps her procrastination made the man in the dark impatient, and he uttered another cold sentence.
"I told you to look up!"
She put down her hands that were covering herself, slowly raised her watery eyes that seemed to be weeping and mourning, and met the beam of light.
The rosy lips were clenched tightly, and there were several clear red fingerprints on the right side of the transparent white cheek.
Her thick, messy long hair fell on her shoulders, and even her disheveled appearance could not conceal her bright and beautiful beauty.
Lin Yiyi moved her lips slightly and spoke timidly, "...I, I'm not a bad person, I'm sorry...I just want to take a car and leave here..."
She couldn't see him clearly, and could only tell his age by his voice, "Can you please not kick me out of the car..."
The snow was drifting endlessly, and the wind blew it, bringing cold and chilly weather.
Unable to wait for his answer, Lin Yiyi tried to open her eyes wide and filled them with tears. At this moment, she was scared and she didn't know where she was.
I don't know why I'm here.
I don't even know where to go after getting off the bus...
Tears fell uncontrollably, Lin Yiyi held her breath and didn't sob out loud. She reached out to the light and gently grasped his trouser leg. She was afraid that he would kick her away out of disgust, so she only dared to grab a little bit of the edge.
"…I don't want to die in the snow, can you help me?"
Her tearful voice was full of pleading, "...can you please speak?"
I don’t know how long it took.
It seemed like an eternity had passed before a voice came from above his head: "Okay."
The moment Zhao Sheng saw her face clearly, he felt uneasy. At the beginning of the month, an educated youth who died in the village looked very similar to her, but he quickly realized the difference between the two. Her eyes and expression were different from that educated youth Lin did not have.
He was about to ask her to get out of the car, but when he saw her crying, he softened his heart.
After hearing the answer in the dark, Lin Yiyi's tears fell even harder. She hurriedly turned her face to wipe her tears and thanked him in a hoarse voice.
"Thank you."
As he twisted back and forth, the two bottles of glucose hidden in his arms rolled down.
It fell brightly in the flashlight.
Zhao Sheng suddenly chuckled, "What a thief."
Lin Yiyi seemed to be caught red-handed. Her face turned red with shame. She didn't dare to look at him. She just lowered her head and silently picked up the two bottles of glucose.
He retreated back to the dark corner, tightly grasping the only thing in his hand.
I kept telling myself in my heart, it’s okay, it’s okay.
She has always been like this.
Seeing that she stopped talking and kept her head down in silence, Zhao Sheng also pursed his lips, stood for a while, turned off the flashlight, and jumped out of the trunk of the car in a few steps.
The snow kept falling and it never got to dawn.
In the night, the only sounds were the bumpy sounds of the truck and the falling snow.
Lin Yiyi opened her clear eyes in the dark car. Even though she couldn't see anything, she didn't let her guard down.
After midnight, the truck stopped halfway.
Zhao Sheng was resting with his eyes closed in the driver's seat, covered with two quilts. He didn't know why, but his hearing suddenly became extremely sharp, and the sound of falling snow outside the window became extremely loud.
My mind kept thinking about her huddled up in a ball.
He opened his eyes to look at the snow, estimating that the temperature was below zero, and was afraid that someone would freeze to death in the car tomorrow morning.
In the end, one of the quilts was given away.
Lin Yiyi couldn't stand the cold, and the kettle in her arms had lost its temperature. She kept moving her hands and legs, trying to get warmer.
But it seemed to be of no use. She was so hungry that her stomach could no longer feel anything.
I just felt weak and powerless.
The man's reappearance gave Lin Yiyi more hope of survival, but as she touched the thin blanket, her hope faded.
"Give me the quilt, what are you covering yourself with?"
"I have another bed."
Hearing him say that there was still a quilt, Lin Yiyi smiled faintly, "Take the quilt back, I don't need it."
"Aren't you cold?"
"......"
How could Lin Yiyi say that a thin quilt in summer was useless and take away two of them?
It was a good thing that she wasn't kicked out of the car immediately.
She trembled as she spoke, but she managed to keep her mouth shut, "I... I'm not afraid of the cold..."
Zhao Sheng saw that she only touched the corner of the quilt and then retracted her hand. He vaguely guessed her thoughts, "Too thin?"
"This stretch of road is not easy to drive on at night, so you'll have to make do with it.
We can just drive to town after daybreak."
"One quilt is not enough to keep me warm. I can't survive until dawn. It would be a waste for me to use it, unless..."
Lin Yiyi clenched her trembling jaw and tried to speak clearly.
She actually wanted to speak out her thoughts in one go, but she always found it difficult to say it.
He swallowed half of the words that were about to come out of his mouth.
Zhao Sheng looked normal, but his eyes were dark and unclear. "So what do you want?"
"......" He clearly understood her hesitation, but deliberately did not point out the second half of the sentence.
It's obvious that he wants her to bring it up first.
Compared with self-respect and face, death is much more important.
Lin Yiyi spoke softly and clearly, "...Can I share two quilts with you?"
She needed a heat source to warm her stiff body, and the kettle in her arms had already gone completely cold.
Zhao Sheng narrowed his eyes slightly, looked at her for a long time, and then said, "Your clothes are too dirty."
A lesbian dares to ask to sleep in the same bed with a strange man, which shows that she is not a decent girl.
A man who drives a large truck all over the country is bound to meet one or two women with whom he has trouble dealing.
He had never had it before, but maybe he could try it tonight.
"......"
Lin Yiyi dug her fingertips into her palms, trying not to get any misunderstanding from his words, but he was a man, so she had to be on guard.
There was no hidden meaning in her words, and she didn't want to misunderstand that he had any hidden meaning.
It was hard to expose the truth, so Lin Yiyi repeated in a low voice, "It's too cold, I just want to cover myself with a thick blanket to keep warm."
Zhao Sheng raised his eyebrows and instantly understood what she meant, but he didn't want to understand in his heart. He was silent for a while and said indifferently: "Your clothes are too dirty."
...
On the row of seats behind the truck driver's seat, under two quilts were a man and a woman sitting back to back.
On the back of the driver's seat was a pair of black sportswear and sweatpants covered in mud.
Lin Yiyi was originally sleepy, but now she doesn’t dare to be sleepy anymore.
The stiff limbs gradually became numb and the body warmed up little by little.
The fragrance of the woman's body went straight into his nostrils. Zhao Sheng forced himself not to move, feeling somewhat regretful that he should not have let her stay.
He is a man.
Not a good person.
