Chapter 24 Partnering Up
"I'll go get the scissors first." Qiao Mo had no choice but to go into the house and find an old pair of scissors from the wooden house in the wooden bracelet space.
While Kang Mingyuan was making a fire, he watched Qiao Mo process the loach: she held the loach's head with one hand, and used scissors with the other hand to cut open the loach's belly, take out the internal organs, and then cut the loach into pieces.
"Do you want some loach head?"
"No." Kang Mingyuan and Han Yimo answered in unison.
"Then I'll throw it away." Qiao Mo threw the loach head in his hand into the ash hopper.
She moved skillfully and soon she had cut open all the loaches, washed them clean and put them into a sieve to drain the water. She heated the pot and poured in oil. When the oil was hot, she poured the loach segments into the pot and fried them until they were slightly yellow. There was no cooking wine, no vinegar, no sauerkraut or tofu here. She just added chopped ginger, garlic, red pepper segments and perilla leaves, added water and simmered them. After they were cooked, she added salt, soy sauce and MSG to season them, and finally sprinkled with chopped green onions before serving.
"This smells so good." Han Yimo took a look at the bowl of loach that looked and smelled good, and wanted to try it to see how it tasted.
"You guys eat first, I'll cook." Qiao Mo smiled and turned around to cook his own water spinach.
She likes to eat boiled water spinach. She puts the water spinach in a pan with oil, stir-fries it briefly, then adds minced garlic and chopped red pepper, adds a little water and cooks it. When the dish is cooked, she adds salt to taste.
Qiao Mo put the dishes into the lunch box, washed the pot, and was about to carry her own food back home when Kang Mingyuan called her.
"Qiao Mo, let's eat together."
"That's not good." Qiao Mo realized that they hadn't started eating yet. She looked at the loach on the table, then at the water spinach in her hand, and felt embarrassed to refuse.
"There's nothing wrong with it. If it weren't for you, this dish would be so unpalatable." Han Yimo took the water spinach from her hand and placed it on the shelf next to her. "Hurry up and sit down. This dish won't taste good if it gets cold."
Seeing that he wanted to fill his own meal, Qiao Mo had no choice but to agree: "I can do it myself."
"This loach is so delicious, Qiao Mo, it's really good when you cook." Han Yimo gave her a thumbs up.
Even Kang Mingyuan, who was usually quiet, nodded slightly: "It's delicious."
"As long as you like it." Qiao Mo was very happy that the dishes he cooked were liked by everyone.
"Qiao Mo, let's make a deal." Han moved his position with a mysterious look and sat next to Qiao Mo.
"What's the matter?" Qiao Mo looked at him warily. The original book had very little description of them, just a passing mention, saying only that they had extraordinary backgrounds, and after their elders rebelled, they fled the city and joined the army, with unlimited futures. It did not say what their character was like or whether they were reliable.
