Chapter 447: Preparing Supplies (2/2)

When he got into the house, Qiao Mo couldn't bear it any longer. He took off his clothes, climbed onto the bed and fell asleep.

Seeing how tired she was, Kang Mingyuan felt so distressed that he took off his coat, walked to her side, hugged her from behind and fell asleep.

The next day, after breakfast, the two elders of the Kang family and Kang Weimin took a fire starter (a coal stove) and sent Qiao Mo and Kang Mingyuan to their new home.

After getting off the car, Kang Weimin carried the stove, Qiao Mo supported the old lady, and Kang Mingyuan supported the old man and they went upstairs together. Kang Mingyuan and his friends' dormitory was a tube-shaped building. The structure inside was similar to the hotel behind. There was an aisle in the middle with rooms on both sides, and there were windows only at the two ends. The aisle was relatively dark.

Coal stoves and coal briquettes from each household were piled up on both sides of the aisle, leaving only an aisle in the middle that could only accommodate two people. This was despite the fact that most people in that era were relatively slim. If there were two fat people, they would have had to pass through sideways.

Kang Mingyuan's room was on the easternmost side, next to the window in the hallway. The doorway was bright, but the hallway was a bit long. Qiao Mo supported the old lady and walked forward carefully: "Grandma, please be careful, don't touch the stove."

"Child, it's hard for you." Seeing this environment, the old lady couldn't help but feel a little sorry for Qiao Mo: a girl who owns a garden house, for the sake of her grandson, has to live in a tube-shaped building where she has to be careful even when walking.

"Grandma, as long as Mingyuan is here, I won't feel wronged." Qiao Mo shook his head. "Besides, I've suffered hardships before. It wasn't so bad when I was in the countryside. Although it was a small mud brick house, it was still a house after all. Before I went to the countryside, I was at the Qiao family's house. I could only live on the balcony in the cold winter and hot summer. That was really uncomfortable."

"Child, you have suffered." The old lady couldn't help but sigh when she thought about her child who had her own property and received subsidies for martyrs' families, but had suffered so much because of the evil-heartedness of her relatives.

"It's all in the past. My life now is better than anything they could hope for." Qiao Mo smiled with relief. The original revenge had been taken. As long as those people didn't come to her, she would pretend they didn't exist. However, if they insisted on causing trouble for her, she was not someone to be trifled with.

"Yes, forget those bad people and things, and your future will only get better and better." The old lady nodded with relief when she saw that she had really let go of the past. She knew that a person who lives in hatred cannot be happy.

Arriving at the door, Kang Mingyuan opened the door and let everyone in. Kang Weimin put the burning coal ball in the stove into the coal stove beside the door, and added a new coal ball to each of them. The fire-passing ceremony was completed.

"Grandpa, Grandma, Dad, please sit down." Qiao Mo dragged the stools out from under the dining table and invited them to sit. Then he moved the coal stove he had brought under the table and covered it with the fire cloth he had prepared in advance. "Grandpa, Grandma, put your feet in there and they will be warm in a while."

"Well, this is indeed good. Not only will the gas not come up, but the fire will not spread out either." The old lady stretched her hands and feet under the table, and sure enough, her body felt warm in a short while.

"I was just afraid of the gas fumes, but I didn't expect it could cover up the fire." Qiao Mo used the hot water he brought to make tea for them, and took out melon seeds and candies from the cupboard.

"Momo, stop working and sit down and take a rest. We are all family, don't be polite." The old lady pulled her to sit next to her.

"Yeah, grandma, is Mingyuan's decoration okay?" Qiao Mo asked the old lady with a smile.
