Chapter 59 A new look
Qiao Mo and his friends arrived at the Dongshan Brigade while chatting and laughing. Although it was still early, they were really tired. They didn't go out, but all went home to rest.
Qiao Mo also slept in bed for more than an hour before getting up to prepare to tidy up the ceiling of the house: the last time she went to the county town, she took out a piece of plastic sheet from the wooden bracelet space, but she never had time. Now it was a good time to nail it up, so that it could block the dust and the wind in winter.
She first went to the firewood pile and found two small trees as thick as her forearms, and used an axe to chop wooden mats.
"Mo Mo, what are you going to do?" Kang Mingyuan, who was resting on the bed, heard the sound of hoeing on the pingba. He put on his shoes and got up. He saw Qiao Mo chopping a small tree into small pieces, not knowing what he was going to do with it.
"I bought a piece of plastic sheeting from the county town the other day and was going to fix the roof to prevent it from leaking in the winter." Qiao Mo answered as he used a hatchet to flatten the chopped logs.
"This is a man's job, why didn't you call us?" Kang Mingyuan snatched the hatchet from her hand and started to cut the wooden mat, regretting why he hadn't thought of this.
"Actually, I can do it myself." Qiao Mo has been an orphan all his life and has to handle everything on his own.
"I know you can do it, but it's hard to do it alone." Kang Mingyuan said dissatisfiedly, "Remember, if you need help in the future, you must tell me."
"Got it." Qiao Mo nodded, "I'll go in and pack my things first."
"Well, go ahead, leave this to me, I know what to do." Kang Mingyuan nodded.
Qiao Mo went into the house, wrapped the quilt and everything in newspaper, rolled up the mat and put it aside, then spread another layer of newspaper on the bed so that the dust falling from it would not dirty her bed. As for other things, she stuffed all that could be placed under the bed, and those that could not be placed were moved out of the house.
Kang Mingyuan skillfully shaved the wooden mat, then went into the room and pulled up Han Yimo, who was still fast asleep. The two of them also moved the table and stools from their room over.
They put the stools on the table, with two people standing on each side. They first fixed the plastic sheet to the roof with thumbtacks, then put wooden mats on it and nailed them down, fixing the plastic sheet firmly to the roof. As the host, Qiao Mo only needed to stand in the room and hand them nails and other things.
Kang Mingyuan and Han Yima were both quick-witted. In less than half an hour, they had nailed the plastic sheeting. They jumped off the table and looked at Xue Yi's roof. Both of them felt a sense of accomplishment.
"That's great. Not only do we not have to worry about falling dust, but it won't be too cold in winter." Kang Mingyuan said, looking at the roof.
"Brother Yuan, Brother Mo, thank you." Qiao Mo looked at the brand new roof and thanked them with a smile.
"There's no need to be polite between us." Han Yimo waved his hand.
"Yes, you don't need to thank us." Kang Mingyuan also nodded with a smile.
"Then I won't be polite with you. I'll make delicious food for you when I have the chance in the future." Qiao Mo was not polite with them either.
"That's right, Brother Yuan, Momo's idea is great. What do you think, should we nail a layer of plastic sheeting in our house?" Han Yimo looked at it again and again, then thought of the dark hole in the roof of his own house and asked.
