Chapter 320 Losing Money

Chapter 320 Losing Money

“Oh my God!”

A miserable scream was like a needle piercing the eardrum.

Everyone turned their heads to look at the source of the sound, but Ziyi and Yike only saw loneliness - a pile of heads.

"Oh my God, who the hell stole the money I used to save my child? That was money collected by the whole village. It was the money that saved my child's life. Oh my God, you are leaving us no way to survive." The shrill scream sounded again.

Ziyi and Yike both stopped and were about to step out of the hospital gate. Yike pulled Ziyi, and Ziyi understood and changed direction. The two of them walked towards the cashier's office.

In the toll booth, people shook their heads and sighed, and held their wallets tighter for the crying woman. They all knew that their money had been stolen by a thief.

Ziyi and Yike squeezed into the crowd and saw a woman in her thirties sitting on the ground. Her face was gray and thick, with two protruding cheekbones on both sides, two dimples on her cheeks, and her face was covered with snot and tears. Looking at his body again, he was wearing tattered clothes, with his big toe secretly sticking out of the toe of his shoe, secretly looking at the strange world outside.

The woman's zombie hands pounded the ground and she smacked her chest hard. An earth-shaking wail came out of her dry lips, as if all her strength was used in crying.

A man was squatting next to the woman. Although his clothes had no holes, they were covered with patches. His bony hands were tightly buried in his messy hair, and his head was lowered so low that it was almost buried between his legs. The sob burst out of the legs, hit the ground, and spread out.

Next to it was a backpack with straw in the lower part. A piece of cloth was spread on the straw, and on the cloth lay a child who was slightly bigger than the cat.

The child had his eyes closed and his face was sallow, but his cheeks were abnormally red, and his little face was not even as big as Yi Ke's palm.

"How pitiful! I wonder which wicked person brought this smoking thing and is not afraid of being struck by lightning. It's obvious that he is a poor person. He can take money from a child this young to save his life."

"I heard that the money was collected by the whole village. How pitiful."

"Look at the way they are dressed and the way they look. I don't know how poor they are. Those thieves are so cruel to steal from them."

"People like this are prone to stealing. They must seldom come to the city. They don't know that thieves in the city are as cunning as rats."

"This child doesn't look like he's more than a few months old. He's so skinny."

"The money is life-saving money. Who is so evil-hearted to steal it? This is murder for money. He is not afraid of someone coming to take his life in the middle of the night."

"That's right, this kid looks like he's about to die."

People around were talking about it. Some sympathized with the family, some cursed the thief, but no one helped the family.

Yike felt very uncomfortable. Although she knew that these people were not rich, she had no right to blame others.

The woman cried until she was hoarse. The man stood up, shaking himself. He reached out to pull her. "Wife, let's go. This is all my fault. I killed our son. It's all my fault."

"Why don't you keep it safe? That's the child's life-saving money, it's more important than our lives. Why don't you keep it safe?" The woman scratched the man, and the man silently let the woman beat him.

The woman was tired of beating him, so she threw herself on the backpack and screamed miserably: "Yang'er, Yang'er, open your eyes, mother is useless, it is mother who harmed you, I have no money, I can't save you, ah! God, let me die in place of my son. God"

The woman's voice suddenly stopped and her body fell down limply.

The man hurriedly hugged the limp woman and shouted, "Wife, wife..."

The woman woke up slowly to the man's shouting, "Wife, you can't leave me and go. There are children waiting for us at home. This child, this child, we are not blessed to be his parents. Let's go, the children at home can't be in trouble again."

The woman stood up silently and walked to the backpack to carry it, but the man stopped her and said, "Wife, let me carry it."

"No, I'll carry him. You carried him all the way here, so let me carry him back when we go back." The woman's voice was hoarse. She bent down to carry the backpack containing the child, tears rolling down her face.

Yike couldn't bear it any longer. She stepped out of the crowd and stood in front of the woman. "You can't carry him back. He will die before he can get back."

"I know, but I can't do anything about it," the woman sobbed.

"How much does the medicine cost? I'll pay for you." Yi Ke finally said.

“?”…” The woman suddenly raised her head, looking up at her face with tears streaming down her face, her mouth wide open, and she seemed to have lost her voice all of a sudden, tears pouring into her mouth.

"Girl, you, you help us pay?" The man stammered and said in a hurry as if he had grabbed a life-saving straw: "You, I, I borrowed it, yes, borrowed it, and we will definitely pay you back in the future. Thank you! Thank you!"

The woman finally came to her senses. Without saying a word, she knelt down with a plop and kowtowed to Yike.

Yi Ke dodged and grabbed the woman's arm to pull her up. It felt like he was holding a thin dead wood in his hand.

"You carry the child first, we'll go pay the money." Yike said softly.

"Okay, okay, you're a good man, a good man!" The woman wiped the tears from her face and quickly squatted down to carry the backpack. Ziyi and the man went to the window to pay.

Originally, people had to queue up to pay, but everyone felt sorry for the couple, so they took the initiative to let the man go to the front window and pay first. After paying the hospitalization fees, Ziyi and Yike took the couple to the inpatient department. Ziyi went to find a doctor, and Yike accompanied the woman to the ward.

Soon, an IV drip was placed on the child's hand. The woman stared at the child, watching the medicine dripping from the glass bottle, and whispered, "Child, you have met a noble person. You will definitely get better, you will definitely get better."

It was obvious that the family had nothing except a change of clothes for the child, so Ziyi was asked to take the man to buy things needed for the hospitalization.

A washbasin, towel, and dining bowls and chopsticks. He also bought each person a set of the cheapest coarse cloth clothes, two sets of clothes for the child, a can of milk powder, a bottle, and a quilt.

The man didn't want Ziyi to buy it, saying that he had already spent so much money on it.

Ziyi was busy shopping the whole time, and he had to complete whatever his wife asked him to do. So, the man kept muttering that he didn't want to buy it, but in the end he was forced to carry the pile of things back to the hospital.

The man kept repeating one sentence along the way: "Good man! Good man!..."

When the woman saw the man bringing back so many things, she was so grateful that she wanted to kneel down again. This time Yi Ke was well prepared, and he stopped the woman before she could kneel down.
