Seeing that Benben was completely unmoved by reason, Lin Momo was speechless and really wanted to pick up the brat and forcibly take him away.
Just as she bent down to do it, the puppy seemed to understand its owner's eyes, and with a leap, cleverly dodged away.
"You idiot, you dare to hide!" Lin Momo stared wide-eyed in disbelief, one hand on her hip, the other pointing angrily at the idiot.
Seeing that its owner was angry, Benben trotted over and only stopped two or three steps away, craning its neck to fawn over Lin Momo and whimpering.
It seems to be saying:
Master, look at that wolf cub. It's so pitiful. Let's take it in, otherwise it definitely won't survive the night.
After calling out, it looked at the harmless wolf cub in front of it with a pitying gaze, trying to arouse its master's sympathy.
This little dog is so clever, it's almost like a monkey.
Having calmed down considerably, Lin Momo naturally followed Benben's gaze and fixed her eyes on the little creature curled up on the ground, crying for food.
My hardened heart softened a little.
I reckon the reason Benben was so determined to take it in was not only to find himself a playmate, but also because the sight of this abandoned wolf cub reminded him of his own difficult past.
Lin silently took a step back, feeling helpless.
"Alright, let's wait here for a while. If the mother wolf doesn't come back, then we'll take it in, so it won't die young if something happens to it."
Then, he took out a small stool from his storage space, sat down, and accompanied the little wolf cub to wait for its mother with Benben.
He said he would wait on the side, and he really did just wait on the side, keeping at least ten steps away from the wolf cub.
Lin Momo had heard that some wild animal cubs would be rejected by their mothers and even abandoned if they came into contact with human scent.
Therefore, before deciding to take in the wolf cub, she neither indulged in pity by nursing it nor touched it.
The wolf cub seemed to be starving, its mouth twitching on the ground as if searching for food, accompanied by pitiful whimpers.
Lin Momo turned her head away and turned off the flashlight.
You won't die from missing a meal or two.
She'd better not do something that would turn out badly if she meant well.
The mountains were exceptionally quiet and cold on a winter night.
How cold can it be?
It's the kind of cold that makes you shiver no matter how many clothes you wear.
Physical coldness is one thing.
In addition, one must endure psychological coldness.
Because you never know when a hungry wolf will find you and pounce on you with lightning speed.
Lin Momo wanted to do good deeds, but she didn't want to risk her own life.
After waiting for less than 15 minutes, Lin Momo, wearing a floral cotton-padded jacket, became restless.
"Silly, why don't you wait here with it? I'm going back to warm up for a bit." The person, shivering from the cold, offered this rather unkind suggestion.
She was the one who said she would wait, but she was also the one who ran away first.
Lin Momo, still feeling somewhat ashamed, was a little embarrassed.
But when he remembered that this trouble was caused by his own stupidity, the slight guilt that had just arisen in his heart immediately dissipated.
They left with a clear conscience.
"Waaah, waaah waaah—"
Benben, the little dog guarding the wolf cub, raised his upper body and whimpered helplessly twice towards the place where his owner had disappeared.
The owner is so inconsiderate; if he's leaving, he should at least take this hunting dog with him.
Waaaaah...
Has it been abandoned again?
After so many days of trying to please it and having its owner treat its wounds, it thought its owner had already considered it a member of the family.
But when the time came, it turned out that... it wasn't like that at all.
Does anyone know how heartbroken this dog is right now?
After staring blankly at the spot where its owner had disappeared for a long time, and making sure that its owner would not reappear, Benben immediately drooped its ears and lay back down on the ground.
The dog's eyes were dull and lifeless, as if all its energy had been drained away.
Its dejected appearance vaguely reminded people of its former glory when it was wandering.
Lin Momo, who was leisurely enjoying herself in the space, took out a booklet called "Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine" from the bookshelf, which she had only read half of, and gradually immersed herself in the ocean of medical knowledge.
It is still unknown how much trauma her departure caused to the poor, clumsy young boy's heart.
After that night, Lin Momo realized that Benben was even more attached to her, its owner, and then she realized that abandoning it the night before was... somewhat inappropriate.
The tragic experiences of the past have turned Benben into a puppy who is extremely insecure.
I really didn't intend to abandon it; I just wanted it to stay with the wolf cub and protect it from the animals that came out to hunt at night.
But Benben doesn't know.

After studying one chapter, Lin Momo came out of the space to inspect the situation.
Unexpectedly, as soon as it appeared, it felt a blur before its eyes, and the little thing almost knocked it over.
"Waaah, waaah waaah—"
Just as Lin Momo was about to retreat back into her spatial dimension in fright, a familiar voice rang in her ears.
"Silly, did you have to get so worked up? You scared me to death!" Lin Momo scolded him, a little annoyed.
She thought she was going to die in the wolf's jaws, but it turned out that this little guy was just creating tension.
After pulling the dog off of its upright position and into her arms, Lin Momo finally had time to glance in the direction of the wolf cub.
Hey, how come it's still here?
