Chapter 181 The Battle Between Man and Tiger

Faced with such a king of beasts, insignificant humans cannot outrun or defeat it. They can only stand still and pray that it has eaten its fill and is no longer interested in them; otherwise, there is absolutely no chance of survival.

However, this applies to ordinary people. Lin Momo is not one of them. Even if they can't beat them or outrun them, they still have a way out.

So Lin Momo had second thoughts and grabbed Shi Guang's arm, saying urgently, "Shi Guang, let's go hide in the space first."

A wise man doesn't suffer a loss he can avoid.

They could fight back against one tiger, but now that two have come, they shouldn't be so reckless and should learn to avoid their strength.

At this moment, the tiger's roar in the forest stopped abruptly, but a clear and noisy sound of horses neighing and people talking came from behind, moving rapidly toward the two of them.

Could it be that this group shot and wounded two tigers?

The same question arose in their minds at the same time, and they couldn't help but exchange a glance.

"Let's get out of here first!"

Sensing something was wrong, Shi Guang quickly pulled Lin Momo up and hid behind a boulder not far away, with three wolves and a dog following closely behind.

Before long, the spot where they had just been standing became a battlefield, where a fierce battle between humans and tigers took place.

A reddish-brown horse, carrying a young man dressed in brocade robes and wearing a jade crown, galloped along when unfortunately one of its hooves stepped into a ditch.

The boy on horseback was nervously turning his head to look behind him when, unexpectedly, due to the force of inertia, his body was suddenly thrown forward. After falling off the horse, he cried out in pain with a contorted expression.

The horse seemed to have broken its leg, neighing in pain. It tried many times to get up but failed, and finally collapsed to the ground, both in agony and powerless, along with its owner.

Behind the boulder, Shi Guang frowned slightly, thinking to himself that it was this group of people who had summoned the tiger.

Lin Momo felt a pang of guilt. This was too unlucky! They had just dug out the herbs and hadn't even had time to cover the pit before the horse trampled on them. If the boy hadn't tripped, she and Shiguang wouldn't have had to confront the tiger.

Wouldn't you call this shooting yourself in the foot?

It seems they should also bear some responsibility for this accident.

"Young Master!" The two attendants behind him exclaimed and immediately dismounted to help their master.

"Quickly help the young master onto the horse; those few won't last much longer."

However, the boy's arm was already injured, and this fall not only soaked the bandage with blood from the wound, but also broke one leg, making it impossible for him to stand up. The excruciating pain caused large beads of sweat to appear on his forehead.

The two attendants were so anxious that tears were almost streaming down their faces.

"Stop running, Li Yu, give me your bow and arrows!" The boy had lost his bow and arrows while fighting the tiger, and there was only one arrow left in the quiver on his back.

The thinner-looking attendant pleaded, "Young master, your arm is injured. Let's run away quickly, there are two tigers behind us."

Li Yu's attendant chimed in, "Yes, young master, let's escape quickly. You can ride my horse."

They've already lost several people; if the young master also gets hurt in the end, wouldn't all those sacrifices have been in vain?

The boy snatched the longbow from Li Yu's shoulder and said hatefully, "We're not running anymore. Who can outrun a tiger in the mountains? We can only be saved if we kill the tiger!"

Besides, he came here specifically for the tiger; his father was waiting for tiger bones to be used in medicine.

As they were talking, the tiger roared and chased after them, but they only saw one.

Lin Momo peeked out and saw two arrows stuck above the tiger's rear end. She didn't know if the boy had shot them, but after glancing at the boy on the ground, the tiger's roar sounded somewhat frantic.

It had a bit of a "enemies meeting and their eyes turning red with hatred" feel to it.

The boy gripped the bow and arrow, gritting his teeth and straining with all his might, but he couldn't draw the bow. The enraged tiger arched its body and pounced directly at the boy who had wounded it, intending to tear him to pieces.

The attendants were terrified, and the arrows they hastily fired all fell to the ground, except for one that grazed the tiger's body.

Seeing that they could not harm the tiger, the two attendants held short blades in their hands and stood in front of their master, ready to offer themselves as food to the tiger.

Just as things were getting exciting outside, Lin Momo suddenly felt a darkness before her eyes as a pair of large hands covered her vision, and she was pulled back behind the boulder.

"Time?" Lin muttered under her breath, dissatisfied.

Why are you covering her eyes?

"Girls, don't look at such bloody scenes!" Shi Guang said disapprovingly. "You stay here, I'll go out and take a look."

"Do you want to help him? Sure, if he hadn't tripped, he'd probably be far away by now. Be careful, and take the two wolves with you."

“We can’t leave without dealing with the tiger. Besides, this young man has some guts, it’s a pity he died in the mountains. You don’t need to blame yourself. Like he said, no one can outrun a tiger in the mountains. The mountain roads are rugged and uneven. Even if he didn’t fall here, he would have fallen somewhere else.”

As he spoke, Shi Guang checked his equipment and the laces on his shoes.

He then instructed Lin Momo not to come out, and left with a compound bow on his back and two wolves.

Benben and Little Wolf wanted to go too, which scared Lin Momo so much that she immediately put the two little ones into her spatial storage. Honestly, why are these little brats causing trouble when adults are fighting?

When time reached the battlefield, the thinner of the attendants was already lying in a pool of blood, while the attendant named Li Yu was facing the tiger with trembling hands, barely able to hold his knife.

His companion, who was alive and well just moments before, was brutally killed before his very eyes, without even having a chance to scream. How could he not be terrified by such a suffocating threat?

"Puff! Puff! Puff!" Suddenly, three sounds of air being torn apart came from mid-air.

Just as the tiger was about to launch its next attack, it was caught off guard and struck by two arrows. When it saw who had shot it, it roared and pounced on Shi Guang.

Two gray wolves pounced to meet the enemy and wrestled with the wounded tiger. Gradually, the tiger became exhausted and let out a low, mournful roar before its massive body collapsed to the ground.

Everyone present breathed a sigh of relief. The servant's legs went weak, and he collapsed to the ground, crawling towards his master, crying, "Young Master, we're saved!"

But he was too happy too soon.

Then, another tiger's roar came clearly from the forest, as if in response to the dead male tiger.

Shi Guang's expression turned solemn. He took three more arrows, nocked them on the bowstring, and prepared to meet the enemy.

Less than five minutes later, a striped tiger rushed out from the depths of the forest, seemingly seeking revenge for its mate, its entire body radiating ferocity.

The two gray wolves charged forward defiantly and engaged in a fierce battle with the tigress.

The tigress was smaller than the male tiger, and her limbs were relatively thinner, making her slightly less powerful in attack. The two wolves didn't suffer too much of a loss, but as time went on, they inevitably fell into a disadvantageous position, both sustaining injuries.

Driven by a thirst for revenge, the tigress fought with increasing ferocity. After breaking free from the tethers of the two wolves, she charged toward Time, instinctively believing that this boy had killed her husband and that she would avenge him today.
