Chapter 74 Handslash

What's going on here?

Lin Momo couldn't hide her surprise, and a bad feeling inexplicably rose in her heart.

Shi Guang's sharp eyes were fixed on the beggar, and he said with a faint smile, "Judging from your accent, you don't seem to be a local. May I ask where you're from?"

At that moment, Lin Momo seemed to remember that accent... she felt like she had heard it somewhere before.

Standing behind Time, she carefully examined the beggar's appearance.

To be honest, upon closer inspection, this person does look somewhat familiar.

The man looked timid and hesitant: "I'm from out of town. I ran out of money here and can't find any work, so..."

"Are you alone? Are any of your fellow villagers with you? We're just about to have lunch, so let's have lunch together," Shi Guang probed subtly.

"No need, no need! You give us the money and we'll buy it ourselves."

As he spoke, he glanced behind him.

Lin Momo and Shiguang also looked in that direction. Twenty steps away, under the weeping willow, stood a person who looked almost exactly like the beggar.

There really is someone from the same hometown!

Time still extended a warm invitation: "It's alright, just call him over, we'll go eat together, all you can eat!"

"Then, wait a moment, I'll go ask him."

After the beggar left, Shi Guang turned slightly to Lin Momo and whispered, "Don't you think this person looks familiar?"

"Yes, I remember where I saw him before. You should have noticed by now, right?" Lin Momo's expression was not good, and then she asked suspiciously, "Are you really planning to invite them to dinner?"

Neither of the two fugitives got out of the car when the crime occurred.

Later, Shi Guang and Lin Momo saw images of the two fugitives at the police station. At this moment, the two of them recognized one of the fugitives at the same time, and the person in the distance whose face was not clear was obviously his accomplice.

The fugitive might have some recollection of Lin Momo, but he didn't recognize Shi Guang.

This gave Lin Momo and her companion an opportunity.

Shi Guang calmly said with a harsh tone, "Of course not! I wish I could kill them to vent my anger. I'll subdue them first and then take them to the police station. Be smart, and if things look bad, run away as soon as possible."

Under the tree over there, the two were still whispering to each other, one wanting to go and the other afraid to go, neither able to convince the other.

"What if they don't come?" Lin Momo asked with some concern.

These fugitives are generally quite wary and vigilant, and are not very willing to have close contact with people.

Shi Guang looked ahead and said calmly, "It's alright. If we can't catch them all at once, we can at least catch one of them."

"Why don't we go over there?" Seeing that the two of them hadn't reached a conclusion after arguing for a long time, Lin Momo was getting a little anxious.

It seems that Heaven not only brought her back to hoard goods, but also gave her a chance for revenge.

How could she let it go so easily?

She was determined to capture those two fugitives.

Not a single one can escape.

Shi Guang also wanted to finish quickly, so he nodded and said, "Okay, give me a cash bill."

Lin Momo took out a hundred-yuan bill from the pocket of her sun protection clothing and handed it over.

As he took the money, Shi Guang still gave him a final, concerned instruction: "Stay here. If things look bad, run towards a crowd as fast as you can."

Seeing Lin Momo agree, Shi Guang gave her another deep look before clutching the banknotes and striding towards the willow tree with his long legs.

Staring intently at the passing time, Lin Momo secretly took a step forward, wanting to join in as well.

Before they even got close, Shi Guang shouted, "Haven't you two decided yet? Here's the money, go buy your own food."

As time drew near, the two beggars visibly panicked, like startled birds, but then relaxed their guard.

The man who had been begging from them earlier stared at the banknotes, gleefully preparing to step forward and take them, but was stopped by the man next to him who stretched out his arm.

This was exactly what Shi Guang wanted. He continued walking towards the two without stopping, and said with a smile, "Didn't you just say you wanted money? Why aren't you taking it now? What's there to be afraid of?"

Just as the two felt a sense of oppression and were about to back away, time stopped and handed the money to the beggar.

The moment the man reached out, Shi Guang swiftly grabbed his arm and threw him over his shoulder, but instead of throwing him to the ground, he slammed him into the person next to him.

Then he used all his strength to press the two of them to the ground.

At this moment, Lin Momo also ran over, grabbed a rock, and smashed it down on someone's head, knocking the person unconscious.

Just as she picked up the stone again to knock out another fugitive, Shi Guang intervened in time, delivering a chop to the back of the man's neck. The man's eyes rolled back, and he immediately passed out as well.

On his deathbed, the still-shaken fugitive muttered to himself, wondering how he had ended up in the hands of these two ruthless people. At the same time, he was incredibly grateful that the girl hadn't smashed his head open and left him bleeding profusely, thus saving his life.

The two worked together seamlessly and swiftly captured the two fugitive human traffickers.

Bloodstains were splattered on the bodies of the men and on the ground, and the wound on the forehead of the man who had been hit was still bleeding.

Although Lin Momo had kept her distance, the actual damage seemed to have exceeded her expectations, and she couldn't help but feel flustered.

Could it crush someone to death?

His hands began to tremble uncontrollably.

Having seen plenty of bloodshed, he didn't take this small scene seriously. Seeing that no one was around, he calmly wrapped his large hand around Lin Momo's small hand and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, this little injury won't kill you."

After a pause, he began to arrange the follow-up matters, "The police station seems to be not far from here. I'll stay here and keep watch. You go and report to the police. Tell them that two escaped human traffickers have been caught and that they should come over immediately to bring the criminals back to the police station."

"Okay, I'll go right away!"

Hearing that the person was not dead, Lin Momo's panicked heart gradually calmed down.

He took two bottles of water from his bag, handed one to Shi Guang, and drank the other himself.

She took a couple of gulps of water before finally cleaning off the bloodstains splattered on her body. As she washed, she grew impatient, suddenly slapped her forehead, and exclaimed, "I'm such an idiot! Why didn't I change my clothes?"

As she spoke, she first took out a men's shirt from her bag and handed it to Shi Guang, saying, "You should also change out of your shirt quickly."

Then, he took out another sun-protective jacket and put it on.

I immediately felt much refreshed.

Finally, she didn't forget to use the remaining water in the bottle to rinse the bloodstains in the tunnel.

After changing his clothes, Shi Guang handed the dirty shirt to Lin Momo, watching her stuff both clothes into her bag in one go, and then the bulging bag deflated again.

After cleaning up the scene, Lin Momo finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Before leaving, she threw the blood-stained stone that had served as the murder weapon into the river to destroy the evidence.

This was something Lin Momo had placed in her spatial storage for self-defense. She had prepared about ten pieces of various sizes, but the one that had been stained with blood was no longer usable.

Shi Guang pretended not to see her sink the "murder weapon" into the river, but the corners of her lips couldn't help but curl up slightly.

I thought to myself, "They've thought of everything quite thoroughly."
