Shen Miao walked calmly toward the two orcs and said, "Let's go."
The two orcs exchanged a glance, said nothing, and escorted Shen Miao to the execution ground.
The tribe's execution ground was set up in an open area. It was used to deal with orcs who posed a significant threat to the tribe. Li Qiu, for example, was executed here last time.
Shen Miao stopped letting her children come after she heard that she was to be taken to the execution ground, fearing that they would be traumatized if they came.
A large crowd had already gathered at the execution ground. The chieftain and several elders of the tribe were present. Green Pearl was beside the chieftain, whispering something to herself.
The clan leaders all looked furious, glaring fiercely at Shen Miao.
Shen Miao showed no fear whatsoever. She broke free from the beastman and went straight to the chieftain, asking directly, "What crime have I committed? Why am I being taken to the execution ground?"
Upon hearing this, Green Pearl shouted, "Don't you know what you've done? Shen Miao, stop pretending, everyone knows."
Shen Miao's eyes deepened with doubt. She glanced at Lü Zhu and asked curiously, "What do you know? Tell me. I've never done anything to harm the interests of the tribe."
"Hmph, just keep pretending. I saw it all. Did you do the red soil on the mountain?" Green Pearl questioned.
Shen Miao was slightly surprised, but then she understood.
It turned out that she wasn't the only one who knew about the red soil; other members of the tribe had also discovered it.
But Shen Miao's expression made the clan leader and elders think that Shen Miao had indeed done something wrong and was feeling guilty. One elder said with great distress, "The land and trees on the mountain are the foundation on which we depend for survival. Whoever destroys the land is our enemy."
"Yes, they are our enemies!" The orcs were filled with righteous indignation.
Shen Miao lowered her eyes, finding it somewhat amusing.
After going around in circles, she ended up becoming the one who ravaged the land.
The clan chief, unusually displeased, asked, "Chen Miao, why did you do this? That's our mountain, the mountain that gave us birth and nurtured us. How could you bear to destroy it?!"
“I didn’t,” Shen Miao said calmly.
An elder angrily said, "You still dare to argue? If it wasn't you, then who was it? Everyone saw it with their own eyes. Your explanation is useless."
Shen Miao raised an eyebrow: "First of all, I don't have that much power. If I could pollute the land, why didn't I do it before, and why am I only doing it now?"
"Secondly, who saw it? Please tell me, Elder, I confronted her face to face."
The clan chief said slowly, "Shen Miao, stop thinking about taking revenge on others. Since you've already done it, just admit it."
Shen Miao was so angry she laughed: "Clan leader, you're really something. If I had done it, I would kill you all without saying a word, but I didn't do it, and no one can force me to admit it."
"Chieftain, don't waste your breath on her. Doesn't she want to know who saw it? Then tell her. Green Pearl, you go and tell her." The elder called out Green Pearl's name.
Green Pearl came out, her eyes filled with blatant malice. "Chen Miao, I saw it myself. You came back from the mountains covered in blood, and the land you walked on was polluted. The plants started to wither. I saw it with my own eyes."
Shen Miao nodded: "Okay, I'll take that as you saw it. So, please tell me, why can my blood pollute the land?"
“You should ask yourself that question, because you are a wicked female beast. You should not exist in this world. You are the source of all evil. Wherever you are, bad things will happen to everyone. You should be executed.” Green Pearl spared no effort in slandering Shen Miao.
Shen Miao burst into laughter.
The chieftain and all the beastmen stared at her blankly, not understanding why she was laughing.
After laughing, Shen Miao said coldly, "How interesting, you all believe what Green Pearl said?"
“She’s right, we’ll believe her,” a beastman shouted.
Shen Miao shrugged. "Unfortunately, what she said is wrong. Think about it, if I had that ability, Green Pearl would have killed her long ago after she slandered me time and time again. Why is she still alive and well?"
Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment.
Shen Miao didn't give them much time to think and continued, "In addition, the matter of the red soil is true, but I didn't do it. Instead, a strange beast came to the mountain. Its tears can corrode the soil, which is why the vegetation on the mountain withered."
“I don’t know if I had noticed this before, but when I found it, the strange beast was still on the mountain. It was having a difficult birth and was shedding a lot of tears and blood. I helped it give birth to its cubs and then sent them away. From now on, the red soil on this mountain will never appear again.”
This was the first time anyone had heard of something so amazing, and for a moment they didn't know whether to believe it or not.
Shen Miao said calmly, "If you don't believe me, you can send people to the mountain to check. Without the strange beasts, the area of the red land will not expand, but the polluted areas will not recover in a short time."
"You're talking nonsense!" Green Pearl retorted excitedly. "That's not true at all. You're just making things up. That land was polluted by you. Don't try to deny it."
Shen Miao glanced at her and said, "Besides shouting, do you have any evidence? I can produce evidence."
After saying that, Shen Miao took out the finger bone given to her by the strange beast, raised it high, and said, "This finger bone was given to me by the strange beast that delivered my baby."
"Impossible, impossible! Shen Miao is all made up. She's a menace. Keeping her around will only bring misfortune to everyone," Green Pearl hissed.
Shen Miao looked at her coldly: "I didn't even have time to put this finger bone back home before those two orc brothers captured me. I was pretending, and I needed something to pretend with. But you, Green Pearl, you just spout nonsense. Today you slander me, who will you slander tomorrow? Do you think every orc in the tribe will kill someone if you don't like them?"
Everyone already believed Shen Miao's words to a large extent. It was originally unfounded, but Shen Miao was able to produce evidence. On the other hand, Lü Zhu's words could not withstand scrutiny.
“Chieftain,” Green Pearl looked at the chieftain, “what kind of behavior is Green Pearl’s? With a gossip like her in the tribe, I think it’s the tribe that’s in turmoil. If Green Pearl isn’t removed, none of the orcs will be safe.”
The clan chief and elders exchanged glances and surprisingly agreed with her.
"Then let's put Green Pearl on the stage. It's really time to straighten out this trend in the tribe." The elder who had been criticizing Shen Miao before now turned his attention to Green Pearl.
Green Pearl was pushed onto the execution platform, where she cried and screamed in terror.
"No, I didn't do anything! You can't treat me like this! Shen Miao, Shen Miao, you can't do this! I only said a few words to you, you can't take my life!" Green Pearl cried loudly, looking utterly pathetic.
Shen Miao watched her embarrassment for a while before slowly saying, "Have you learned your lesson? Will you try to slander people again next time?"
Green Pearl was so frightened she had lost all her backbone, repeatedly saying, "I won't dare again, I'll never dare again!"
