The orcs seemed surprised by her rudeness and were momentarily stunned.
The leader was so angry that his beard was trembling. He pointed at Shen Miao and said, "You, you really are something! We were trying to talk to you nicely, how could you curse at us?!"
"Is that what you call being polite? You're practically barging into my house, and I'm expected to speak to you politely? How saintly would I have to be?" Shen Miao said sarcastically, arms crossed.
The beastmen were speechless.
The orc leader was about to speak when Shen Miao turned and walked away. The orc angrily shouted, "Stop right there!"
Shen Miao's steps never stopped.
With such a terrible attitude, why should she stop and listen to his nonsense?
"Please wait a moment."
Seeing that Shen Miao was about to return to the house, the orc finally managed to utter a polite remark.
Shen Miao stopped and said with a half-smile, "So you can talk properly after all. I thought you were just good at shouting."
"I'm sorry," the orc said, holding his breath. "Please forgive my rudeness earlier."
Shen Miao leaned against the door and said casually, "Oh, so what brings you here? You're not beastmen from around here, are you?"
The orc's attitude became much more polite. "No, we're here to find an orc named Jiuying. We heard he lives in your house, so we came here."
Nine-Headed Serpent?
A thought struck Shen Miao, and she composed herself, abandoning her earlier nonchalance, and began to carefully examine the group of orcs.
This group of orcs must have been the young and strong men of the tribe. They all looked very robust, but some of them were covered in dust and looked like they had come from a long journey.
Jiuying had been with her for so long, but had never mentioned anything about tribes, so Shenmiao didn't know anything about it and just thought he was a wandering beastman without a tribe.
However, this is not the case now.
Of course, whether these orcs are truly of another race still needs to be verified.
"We have searched many places before finding this place. Please allow us to meet him," the orc said sincerely.
Shen Miao did not agree immediately. She felt it would be better to communicate with Jiu Ying first, in case this was not a member of her clan but an enemy, which would be a big problem.
She thought for a moment and then declined, saying, "Jiuying isn't here. He went hunting in the mountains today. Please come another day."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a burst of laughter came from outside.
"Wow, Uncle Jiuying, you hunted such a big bison today! We can eat it for many days!"
"Yes, I'll have your mother make some hot pot beef tonight. It's been a while since I've had it, and I'm craving it."
"Me too, me too! Uncle Jiuying, please take us hunting next time!"
"I can't make that decision myself; your mother has to agree."
Shen Miao saw that the group of orcs with animal bones hanging on their bodies suddenly turned their heads and stared intently at the one adult and four children walking towards them.
The orc in the lead rushed forward excitedly: "Chieftain, we've finally found you!"
Jiuying looked at the group of orcs in surprise: "Why are you here?"
Four little ones: Who are these?
Shen Miao: Clan Chief?
A group of orcs sat down in the courtyard.
Shen Miao then learned that Jiu Ying was not a wandering beastman, but Hou Yi of the Golden Crow Clan. He had been separated from his tribe by a twist of fate, became a wandering beastman, and even contracted a disease.
The orc in the lead recounted, with tears streaming down his face, how arduous their search for Jiuying had been. Even Shen Miao, an outsider, couldn't help but sigh with admiration.
Jiuying, however, was somewhat restless, and would steal glances at Shen Miao from time to time.
He contracted madness and concealed his true identity, but later, he couldn't find a good opportunity to do so.
Originally, he wanted to wait until the time was right before mentioning it to Shen Miao, but unexpectedly, the clansmen found them so quickly, leaving Jiu Ying at a loss for what to do.
After the orcs finished complaining, they realized that their chieftain seemed somewhat distracted.
After looking at each other for a while, they pleaded, "Chieftain, please come back with us. You've been gone for so many days, and there are so many things in the clan that are waiting for you to handle."
Jiuying refused: "No, I can't go back with you yet."
The orcs were puzzled.
As far as they knew, Jiuying had a low status in this family and was used as a slave. How could their dignified Golden Crow Clan's chieftain be a slave to other beastmen!
It must be this female beast who used some method to force their chieftain to stay.
Thinking of this, the Golden Crow Clan beastmen all looked very unpleasant.
The leading orc said directly to Shen Miao, "Thank you for taking in our chieftain, but our Golden Crow Clan cannot be without a chieftain. Therefore, the chieftain must return with us. However, we will not forget your contributions and will give you sufficient compensation. What do you think?"
Shen Miao smiled and said, "I can't make that decision."
Are you giving her compensation because you think she's poor?
Oh, judging from this wooden house alone, she is indeed quite poor. She should find time to build a house.
The Golden Crow beastmen, however, thought Shen Miao was making excuses and questioned, "Why can't you make the decision? Do you not want to let our chieftain leave? Find the beastman who can make the decision, and we'll talk to him!"
A beastman who can make decisions? Qingchen? He has no patience for such things.
Shen Miao smiled, "What I mean is, whether or not we go back with you depends on Jiu Ying's decision. He is your clan leader, isn't he?"
Jiuying also rebuked, "You must not be rude to Shen Miao."
The Golden Crow orc reluctantly shut his mouth.
One of the more impulsive orcs couldn't help but say, "Chieftain, come back with us. Here you can only be a slave, driven around by others. Back home, everyone will listen to you."
"Who said I'm a slave here?" Jiuying's face turned as black as the bottom of a pot. He looked at his people and said sternly, "Chen Miao has never treated me as a slave. Don't think nonsense. Also, I've already said that I won't be going back for the time being. For now, I'll listen to the elders regarding matters in the tribe."
Despite Jiuying's insistence, the Golden Crow beastmen had no choice but to leave.
After they left, Jiuying found Shen Miao and said, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have kept it from you."
Shen Miao didn't seem to care much about the matter, and only asked, "Are you really not going back with them? If you really want to leave, I won't stop you. After all, you are the patriarch of the Golden Crow Clan."
Jiuying pursed her lips and shook her head, saying, "I won't go back yet."
Shen Miao didn't ask him why he didn't go back. Since it was Jiu Ying's own decision, she respected it.
"Alright, it's up to you. I'll say it again, we're friends. If you want to leave, just tell me, I won't force you to stay."
Jiuying hummed in agreement, seemingly reluctant to discuss the matter.
Seeing this, Shen Miao changed the subject, bringing up the white-horned beast. "It died because of me, and I can't change anything, but I can't let its cubs suffer. I want to go into the mountains and bring its cubs out; that way, it will be easier to take care of them."
