Chapter 153 Fighting

Qingchen sulked all afternoon.

Shen Miao was completely unaware of the situation; she took her homemade fishing net and went to the river to catch fish.

A very fruitful harvest.

In the evening, we made fish for dinner: a fresh fish soup and a smoked fish. It was the first time we had made the latter, and the kids exclaimed how delicious it was. Even Qingchen, who is usually reserved, ate with great relish and had long forgotten about being angry.

It wasn't until Shen Miao added a bowl of soup for him, smiling, that she said, "Eat slowly, I made enough."

Qingchen became awkward again.

With her eyes lowered, she sipped her soup slowly, her posture incredibly elegant.

Before Shen Miao's eyes, a large, snow-white fox automatically appeared, its pink tongue licking its food bit by bit. Oh my god, she really wanted to see Qing Chen turn into a large fox.

But this little fox cub seems very reluctant to transform into its true form.

Shen Miao would never dare to bring it up herself; if she did, Qing Chen would roll his eyes at her.

There was a bit too much smoked fish, so we ate it again the next day. Shen Miao didn't want to eat the same food for two meals, but the kids insisted, so she had no choice but to agree.

Just as they were eating, the cat-beastman arrived.

"Oh, I've come at the wrong time," the cat-beastman said with a laugh.

Shen Miao put down the half-eaten fish and said, "It doesn't matter if it's not the right time or not. Come, sit down and have some with me."

The cat-beastman hurriedly waved his hand in refusal.

He also brought some things over, some food he had traded at the beast farm. Shen Miao didn't recognize them very well, but after the cat beastman explained, she understood that they were all things that weren't very valuable, but were quite nutritious.

Shen Miao had already told him that he could visit other people's homes without bringing gifts every time, but the cat-beastman just wouldn't listen and insisted on bringing something with him every time to feel at ease.

This is because they still remember the kindness she showed them before.

Shen Miao was actually very happy. It was better to be friends with a grateful person than with a heartless bastard.

The items themselves may not be valuable, but the exchange of gifts and favors is what makes the friendship last.

The cat-beastman came to see Qingchen, and the two went to talk to each other. Shen Miao didn't need to listen to know what questions the cat-beastman was asking.

It's basically about whether Qingchen's leg has fully healed, and whether there are any health problems.

Every time the cat-beastman came over, Shen Miao would think that Qing Chen's friend was indeed quite good.

After chatting for a while, the cat-beastman prepared to leave.

After all, he's a businessman now, and he can't slack off on making blood tofu every day. It's thanks to this business that his family is living the life they have now.

Shen Miao stopped him, handed him a cleaned smoked fish, and said with a smile, "Take this back and try it. I don't know if it suits your taste."

The orcs here have a very limited diet and cooking methods; they have no idea that fish can be smoked.

The cat-beastman found it very strange, but still declined, saying, "I can't keep taking things from your house."

“What’s the big deal? You brought things with you too. Take them. We have plenty of fish at home. These are just one or two fish, they’re nothing.” Shen Miao insisted that he accept them.

The cat-beastman had no choice but to accept. As he was leaving, Da Bao chased after him and asked, "Uncle Cat, is Fu Lu at home? Let him come over and play."

"Alright, I'll have him come find you." The cat-beastman smiled, waved to them, and went home.

Shen Miao continued to process the remaining fish. She had caught a bit too many to eat in a short time, so she kept them in a wooden basin. Unfortunately, quite a few of them still died.

It would be great if we could dig a pond to raise them.

However, this thought only flashed through his mind. There was a large river outside the tribe, and the river had more food than he could eat. He really didn't need to raise any more.

Shen Miao spent half a day busy, and produced quite a lot of smoke.

Just then, the cat-beastman arrived at the door excitedly. Shen Miao thought he was coming to see Qing Chen again, but he went straight to her.

"Shen Miao, how do you even think of a brain? I'm absolutely amazed by you."

At first glance, these words sounded like an insult, but judging from the cat-beastman's appearance, it didn't seem like an insult. She smiled and said, "Brother Cat, are you praising me or insulting me?"

The cat-beastman clapped his hands and said, "Of course I'm praising you. Your smoked fish tastes really good. I'm so glad you came up with that idea."

Shen Miao found it amusing; it seemed that not only her family members liked the smoked fish, but the cats and beastmen did too.

"Brother Cat, if you like it, I just pickled some more. Take a few home and eat them."

The cat-beastman waved his hands repeatedly, "No, no, no, I didn't come to ask you for smoked fish. I just thought that such delicious fish could be sold at the beast farm, and I'm sure many people would buy it."

Shen Miao had never really thought about selling it; it was mainly because she hadn't quite grasped the concept yet.

She had become accustomed to the abundance of modern things back then, but things were different here. This place was extremely poor, practically devoid of anything.

If she wanted to sell, she could come up with a new idea in just a few days.

However, Shen Miao was reluctant to sell it, mainly because it was too troublesome. It required fishing and making it. She thought it was fine to do it once or twice occasionally, but doing it every day was not feasible.

"Sure, Brother Cat, you can add it to the items you sell."

The cat-beastman is still selling blood tofu, and business is pretty good, enough for his family to live on. But people are never satisfied; if they can earn more money, why not?

“That won’t do,” the cat-beastman said righteously. “I can’t take advantage of you anymore. This is your idea. I’m just here to tell you.”

Shen Miao took it seriously. She felt that since everyone liked this, it should be shared to enrich the beastmen's meals.

"Brother Cat, come here."

The cat-beastman, confused, followed her to the kitchen. Shen Miao demonstrated how to make smoked fish, and finally asked, "Did you learn it?"

The cat-beastman stammered, "Um, I..."

"Stop with the 'I' and 'I'. I'm just letting you learn it. Once you've learned it, you can sell it at the beast farm. I don't care about you, understand?" Shen Miao said.

The cat-beastman scratched his head. "I... I can't possibly repay you."

Shen Miao smiled gently: "What do you need to repay? Just sell it well. I didn't do anything, I just provided you with a method. You'll have to pay for the materials and labor yourself, so don't feel too much pressure."

The cat-beastman agreed.

Shen Miao was pleased; she could already imagine that their business would become more and more prosperous, and they would sell more and more products.

Could we just set up a small general store then?

However, this idea may not be feasible for the time being, so let's wait and see, there's no rush anyway.

An Ran thought to herself.

That day, she stayed at home and didn't go out. Suddenly, she heard a loud, earth-shaking roar coming from the back mountain. Startled, she rushed out of the house, asking, "What happened? What's going on?"

The commotion was so loud, it sounded like a wild beast had invaded.

Qingchen also came out of the house, listened for a while, and said, "The strange beasts on the mountain are fighting."

"Huh?" Shen Miao was a little confused.
