Chapter 156 Ambush

Qingchen finished writing the letter in a few words, rolled up the animal skin, tied it to the pigeon's leg, and then the two of them released the pigeon together.

Watching the pigeons fly away, Shen Miao thanked Qing Chen and prepared to leave.

"Where are you going?" Qingchen called out to her.

Shen Miao was taken aback. Strange, was Qing Chen taking the initiative to start a conversation with her?

She instinctively replied, "I'll go do other things and won't bother you."

The main villain prefers to be alone, just like the fairy. She is also afraid that she might offend this banished immortal by saying the wrong thing.

Qingchen lowered his eyes, seemingly lost in thought.

Long, strong fingers were idly pinching a twig. Shen Miao couldn't just leave like that, so she could only wait on the side.

After a while, Qingchen finally raised his head, his fingers twirling the twig in a graceful circle. His voice still sounded as cold and clear as ice and snow, "Do you want to stay blind like this forever?"

Shen Miao: "..."

Why did it suddenly turn into a personal attack?

She didn't want to be blind, but what could she do?

Shen Miao tried to figure out what he was thinking and slowly said, "Well, I want to learn, but I can't find a suitable teacher."

At this moment, Qingchen turned his head slightly and glanced at her.

That glance, seemingly haughty, was actually filled with disappointment and frustration.

Shen Miao instantly understood and made a fist-and-palm gesture towards Qing Chen, "Teacher, please teach me how to write."

Qingchen's voice was devoid of any emotion, and he said in a condescending tone, "Since you are so insistent, then I will teach you. Let's make it clear beforehand that you cannot give up halfway."

"I will follow the teacher's teachings."

Qingchen ignored her, found a sandy spot, took a tree branch, and began to teach her to write.

Shen Miao also wanted to learn the local script as soon as possible. It was too difficult to be completely illiterate, and she couldn't always ask Qingchen to write her letters. That guy might not be willing every time.

The two of them continued teaching and learning in this way, and time passed silently.

Qingchen was surprised by Shen Miao's learning speed. Shen Miao was quite proud of it and boasted about it. After all, she had a foundation, so learning a few characters was a piece of cake for her.

Seemingly sensing her smugness, Qingchen quickly wrote an obscure character that Shen Miao couldn't recognize, and obediently tucked her tail between her legs.

For several days in a row, apart from going to the beast farm to sell blood tofu when necessary, Shen Miao spent the rest of her time at home learning to write. At first, she was indeed very interested because she could be in close contact with Qing Chen. However, after a while, even the most handsome man could no longer attract her interest in continuing to learn.

After all, it's really boring.

That day, Shen Miao was yawning incessantly and swaying from side to side when suddenly there was a knock at the door. She jumped up immediately, startled, and said, "I'll go open the door."

Shen Miao opened the door and saw a somewhat familiar-looking beastman standing outside. It seemed that his true form was a mole, and he himself had a somewhat shifty-looking appearance.

Seeing Shen Miao open the door, he gave her a friendly smile: "Shen Miao, you're home."

Shen Miao hummed in agreement, thinking to herself, "Isn't that obvious? If I wasn't home, would I open the door for you?"

"Hehe, I've come to borrow something from you. Could you let me in first?" The mole-beastman kept peeking behind her, which annoyed Shen Miao.

This action is actually very impolite. The host is standing right in front of you, and you keep looking into their house. What kind of intentions do you have?

Shen Miao didn't say anything, but stepped aside to let the mole beastman in. She wanted to know what this guy was up to.

The mole beastman walked around the yard and exclaimed, "The house is so clean! It's really good to have a female beast. Qingchen is so lucky to have married you."

Shen Miao was already getting impatient and asked directly, "What do you want to say? Just say it."

The mole-beastman froze for a moment, then chuckled and said, "Look at me, I almost forgot the important thing. Actually, we're out of flint at home, and I wanted to borrow one from you."

Shen Miao had already made up her mind.

Her home was on the edge of the tribe. The mole orcs didn't bother borrowing from any of the other orcs' homes, but instead came to hers. She would never believe they had no ulterior motive.

She thought for a moment, smiled at the mole beastman, and said, "Okay, wait a moment, I'll go get it for you."

"It's alright, it's alright, go ahead." The mole-orc grinned, revealing eight teeth, with his two front teeth being particularly prominent.

Shen Miao went to Qing Chen's room first, gave him a few instructions, and then went to the kitchen. She then said to the mole beastman, "I forgot where I put the flint. It may take a while to find it. Please wait a bit."

The mole-beastman repeatedly said it was alright and that he could wait, so Shen Miao went inside.

At this moment, the only person visible in the courtyard was the mole beastman. He looked around furtively like a thief, and then tiptoed to Shen Miao's room.

He thought he was being discreet, but little did he know that his every move was being observed by someone in another room with the door half-open.

The mole-like beastman frantically searched Shen Miao's room.

Where is it? Where exactly is it?

A voice suddenly came from behind: "What are you looking for?"

The mole-beastman froze, then turned around to see Shen Miao standing behind him, looking at him blankly with a flint in her hand, as if she knew nothing about it.

A fierce glint flashed in the mole-orc's eyes.

Shen Miao is just a female beast. If he kills her today, he can get the golden eagle egg without any worries.

Thinking of this, the mole-beastman suddenly sprang up and charged at the unprepared Shen Miao.

Shen Miao nimbly dodged away.

Seeing her extraordinary skills, the mole-beastman became even more determined to kill her, and his attacks became increasingly powerful, imbued with spiritual energy.

After exchanging a few blows with him, Shen Miao found herself struggling. This orc was incredibly powerful, and she was no match for him.

As agreed, she immediately jumped out of the door and into the courtyard. The mole beastman followed her into the courtyard, and Qingchen, who had been waiting outside, attacked from behind.

Despite being attacked from both sides, the mole-orc remained calm, merely grinning maliciously at Qingchen, "You crippled orc, has your leg fully recovered? Aren't you afraid I'll break it again?!"

Qingchen remained silent with a cold face, but his blows became increasingly severe.

Shen Miao also exerted all her strength. The mole beastman, who was being attacked by the two of them, gradually became exhausted. Finally, in a moment of distraction, he was kicked away by Qing Chen and fell heavily to the ground.

"Don't let him get away. Thieves should at least lose both their hands." Shen Miao flew forward, blocking the mole beastman's departing figure.

The mole-beastman grinned menacingly, "You female beast, how dare you point fingers at me? Even if I don't leave here today, I'll definitely drag you down with me to die."

"Get out of the way!" Qingchen shouted sharply.

Before Shen Miao could react, the orc in front of her suddenly exploded into a flower-like shape with a loud bang.
