Chapter 174 Educating the Little One

For the next few days, Shen Miao was kept at home by her children and not allowed to go anywhere.

Although Shen Miao felt that she was perfectly fine.

But she didn't go against the children's wishes, fearing they would cry and flood Jinshan Temple again.

The kids stopped going out to play and stayed home every day, ostensibly to keep Shen Miao company, but in reality, it was a form of "supervision" because Shen Miao would sneak out whenever they weren't looking.

Not honest at all.

Shen Miao could only manage a wry smile at this.

That day, the children were playing in the yard. At first, you could hear them laughing and talking, but after a while, there was a commotion outside, with chickens running wild, dogs barking, and people howling.

While Shen Miao was tidying up her personal space while the children were away, she heard a scream and hurriedly closed it. She rushed out, asking anxiously, "What happened? What's wrong?"

"It hurts so much, ahhh, it hurts so much!"

The little ones, like monkeys, jumped high and slapped themselves hard, as if they had something shameful on them.

Shen Miao looked at it strangely. What exactly was it? Why couldn't she see it?

A little brat darted in front of her, but Shen Miao grabbed him and pressed him down. "Erbao, why are you running? What are you carrying?"

"Ants, Mommy, so many ants, boohoo, it hurts so much!" Erbao squirmed in Shen Miao's arms like a water snake.

Seeing how distressed he was, and glancing at the children, Shen Miao came up with an idea: "Let's go to the river."

The children realized what was happening and immediately ran wildly towards the river.

Upon reaching the riverbank, they jumped in without hesitation, like dumplings being dropped into a pot. The icy river water covered their entire bodies, finally carrying away the annoying ants.

Shen Miao followed closely behind. Seeing that the children were alright, she had them come out of the water and began to question them about what had happened.

"It was Erbao who insisted on poking the ant hole with a stick. As a result, a huge swarm of ants swarmed out, crawled all over us, and bit us everywhere. It hurt so much."

Da Bao angrily accused him.

Erbao retorted, not to be outdone, "No, it was Sanbao who said there was good food in the ant nest, so I turned over their nest. Why blame me? Blame Sanbao."

Sanbao retorted confidently, "I only said that termites can be roasted and eaten, I didn't ask you to go and search the ant nest. It was clearly your own curiosity that led you to blame me, hmph."

Little Sibao said angrily, "Erbao, you're so annoying. My hand is all red from being bitten."

Amidst the accusations from the little ones, Shen Miao roughly understood what had happened. She was both angry and amused. She had no idea that she could get bitten by ants if she hadn't raised the little ones.

"Stop arguing, come home with me to change your clothes and apply the medicine."

The ants here are not like those in her previous world; they are extremely ferocious, and she might get infected with some kind of germ if she gets bitten.

After arriving home, the kids pointed out the ant nest to Shen Miao. Sure enough, there was a large ant nest in the corner of the wall, with ants constantly going in and out. They were all quite big, no wonder it hurt when they bit her.

Shen Miao glared at the little ones and said, "Why did you go and provoke them?"

Erbao wasn't ashamed at all, puffing out his little chest and saying, "They bit me, so we're even. It's not my fault."

"Alright, stop joking around and go change your clothes."

After changing their clothes, the children sat obediently in front of Shen Miao, waiting for her to apply the medicine to each of them.

The little ones never learned their lesson. No sooner had the medicine been applied than they wanted to go play with the ant nest again. Shen Miao was furious and simply took a fire and burned the nest down.

The ants' pleas were useless; in the end, they could only watch helplessly as the ants were burned to a crisp, feeling extremely frustrated.

Why did Mother burn such a fun thing?

Shen Miao ignored them because she suddenly realized that many of the flowers she had planted had died, and there was a bare patch under the fence that looked very out of place.

She stroked her chin, thinking about sowing some new flower seeds. She checked the area again and found that there wasn't a big problem; she guessed it was just a lack of fertilizer. She decided to bring in some earthworms to loosen the soil.

Without further ado, Shen Miao took her homemade hoe and went to dig up a lot of earthworms.

The children didn't understand why Shen Miao had prepared so many earthworms. Hmm, those plump little ones must taste delicious. The children's mouths watered as they looked at the earthworms.

Shen Miao didn't notice their gazes and turned to weed the other crops.

When she finished weeding and looked up, she discovered that each of the little ones had an earthworm in their mouth and a smile on their face, as if they were eating some kind of delicacy.

Shen Miao almost vomited on the spot.

She rushed over and said speechlessly, "What are you doing? These are earthworms! Who told you to eat them? Spit them out right now!"

To her surprise, her shout caused the children to lose control and slurp up the bottom half of the food, then they looked at her innocently.

Shen Miao: "..."

She held her forehead and suddenly felt a headache.

Looking again at the bamboo tube containing earthworms, she saw that only half of it remained. Incredulous, she asked with a sliver of hope, "These earthworms, you didn't eat them all, did you?"

The kids exchanged a guilty glance, then grinned foolishly at Shen Miao.

Shen Miao felt a sudden dizziness.

She felt these were dirty and unusable, and wanted to throw them away.

"Mother." Xiao Sibao reached out and took Chen Miao's hand.

Shen Miao jumped back instinctively, "Don't touch me."

Little Sibao looked innocent and pouted, "Mommy, don't you love Little Sibao anymore? Why won't you let me touch you?"

You're so dirty, little brat, Shen Miao really finds it disgusting.

Her avoidance of him at all costs hurt the children, who couldn't figure out why, so they silently went to Qingchen for comfort.

Later, Qingchen went to find Shenmiao again, and Shenmiao told him with a heavy heart, "They eat earthworms, did you know that?"

Qingchen raised an eyebrow; he hadn't expected this reason.

Eating earthworms isn't really a big problem. Their ancestors ate everything when they couldn't hunt, so earthworms weren't a big deal.

What's wrong with eating earthworms?

Shen Miao looked at his confused expression and was speechless for a moment.

So eating earthworms isn't a big deal; it's her making a fuss over nothing.

Oh right, she forgot that this is a beastman world, and all the beastmen here are half beast and half human, so eating earthworms is really nothing to them.

Shen Miao's expression nearly cracked when she finally understood this, but she still convinced herself to stay calm. It wasn't a big deal; at most, she could just look at the cubs' beast forms more often.

However, she still called the cubs together and told them that they were never allowed to eat earthworms again, nor were they allowed to eat any raw animals.

The babies nodded, looking bewildered.
