Chapter 218 Rescuing the Orcs

Shen Miao's hand touched the driftwood, and she was overjoyed.

If she can bring Xue Mo over, she can take him ashore!

Just then, a huge wave crashed over them, throwing them both overboard. Shen Miao sank into the water, where visibility was extremely low, and Xue Mo's figure had long since disappeared from sight.

Her mouth, nose, and ears were filled with filthy floodwater, making her extremely uncomfortable.

Shen Miao struggled, trying to surface, but the flash flood was too fast. After struggling for so long, she was exhausted. Finally, her hands went limp and she had no more strength to swim.

Darkness enveloped her, and Shen Miao completely fainted.

She didn't know how much time had passed before Shen Miao regained consciousness. She felt pain all over her body, as if she had been pinned to the ground and beaten up.

What happened? Didn't she go into the water to save Xue Mo? Oh right, where is Xue Mo?

Shen Miao suddenly opened her eyes and saw a simple thatched roof with a faint smell of herbs in the air.

Where is this? Has she been rescued?

Shen Miao struggled to get up.

A voice rang out, "You have many wounds on your body, so don't rush to get up."

Shen Miao turned her head and saw that a middle-aged beastman had walked in. He was wearing an animal skin similar to Xue Mo's, and she wondered what his relationship with Xue Mo was.

She thanked him, "Did you save me? Thank you. I have a companion; have you seen him?"

The orc laughed and said, "You mean Xue Mo? He's right next to you."

Shen Miao turned her head and saw Xue Mo, who was still unconscious. He looked even worse, with several bloody streaks on his face from something scraping against it.

He lay there, looking as if he were dead.

"Could he really be dead?" Shen Miao thought in terror.

Seemingly sensing her thoughts, the orc smiled and said, "Xue Mo isn't dead. He's just too badly injured and will probably be unconscious for a while before waking up."

Shen Miao breathed a sigh of relief, then realized something was wrong. Why did this orc know Xue Mo's name?

"You two know each other?" Shen Miao asked tentatively.

The orc laughed and said, "Yes, of course I know him. Xuemo and I are of the same race."

Shen Miao was surprised, but at the same time she was very fortunate. If Xue Mo's clansmen hadn't happened to be there, they would probably all be corpses by now.

"Thank you, thank you so much," Shen Miao said again.

The orc waved his hand, his face turning serious. "Why were you in the water? Mountain torrents are so dangerous. If I hadn't happened to be there transforming into a dragon, you would have been swept away."

Shen Miao couldn't say for sure what fruit Xue Mo insisted on picking, so she vaguely said, "We weren't paying attention and accidentally fell down."

"You must be careful in the future. If you encounter a flash flood like this, remember to stay far away."

"Okay, I've got it."

Shen Miao agreed verbally, but in her heart she thought, "Xue Mo is such an idiot. Everyone else knows to stay away from the flash flood, but he's the only one who's going against it. That's enough."

She asked about Xue Mo's condition again, and carefully used her supernatural abilities to check on him. Only after confirming that Xue Mo was indeed alright did she feel relieved.

After resting for a while, Shen Miao said she wanted to leave.

"Leave? Aren't you going to wait for Xue Mo to wake up? I thought you two..." He hesitated, but Shen Miao understood what he meant.

The orc probably meant that she and Xue Mo had a special relationship, and might even think that she was Xue Mo's female beast.

Not wanting to cause any misunderstanding, she explained, "Xue Mo and I just met by chance and spent a few days together in the Illusionary Mist Forest. We have no other relationship."

"Oh, I see." The orc was embarrassed by his overthinking.

Shen Miao didn't mind. She said goodbye to the orc one last time and then prepared to leave.

The orc tried to persuade her to stay, saying, "Why don't you wait until Xue Mo wakes up before you leave? Besides, your injuries haven't fully healed yet, so you can rest a bit longer."

Shen Miao was in a hurry to go home, and feeling that she was no longer seriously injured, she did not want to stay any longer.

The orc had no choice but to send her away.

Meanwhile, Xue Mo woke up not long after Shen Miao left. As soon as she woke up, she saw an uncle from the tribe and couldn't help but call out to him.

"You're awake? You woke up pretty quickly."

Xue Mo propped himself up with his hands, feeling a little dizzy. He couldn't help but reach out to support his head.

The orc walked over and asked, "Your head hurts. Don't rush to get up. You were swept far away by the flash flood and almost didn't survive. Get some rest and don't do anything rash. Wait, what are you looking for?"

Xue Mo didn't speak, but looked around aimlessly. Not seeing anyone, she jumped off the bed and ran outside to search. The orc followed behind, shouting, "Xue Mo, are you crazy? What are you looking for?"

"Gone, gone." Xue Mo seemed not to hear the orc's words, only muttering to herself.

He remembered that after he jumped into the flash flood, he was swallowed by the flood. Later, he managed to grab onto a piece of driftwood, and then it seemed that Shen Miao also jumped in.

He was too weak to speak at the time, so he couldn't stop him even if he wanted to.

Later, a wave came and they were all submerged by the flash flood.

He has been rescued, but Shen Miao is not here, so Shen Miao was swept away by the flood?

Xue Mo took off running towards the flash flood. The orc reacted and quickly stopped him, scolding, "What are you doing? Don't you want to die? You just woke up and you're already running away. Do you want to die? If you wanted to die, I wouldn't have saved you in the first place!"

He was given a severe scolding.

Xue Mo seemed to have lost her soul, crouching on the ground with her head in her hands, crying out in anguish, "It's me, it's all my fault, I was too willful, why wasn't it me who was swept away by the flash flood!"

After listening for a while, the orc vaguely understood something and asked, "What did you say? You were swept away by the flash flood?"

Xue Mo suddenly realized what was happening and jumped up, grabbing the orc and asking, "Uncle, tell me, did you see the female beast that fell into the flood with me?"

"Look, I see it."

The orc was made apprehensive by Xue Mo's actions. He slapped Xue Mo's hand away and walked away a little while closer, fearing that Xue Mo would rush over again.

Xue Mo was overjoyed and was about to rush forward again, but the old man was frightened by Xue Mo and hurriedly said, "Stand there and don't move. Just talk, don't touch me."

"Okay, I'll tell you properly, Uncle. Please tell me where Shen Miao is now. She's alright, she must be alright, right?"

"Yeah, it's okay. She woke up even earlier than you and left as soon as she woke up," the orc uncle said irritably.

Xue Mo stared wide-eyed in disbelief. Shen Miao had actually left ahead of schedule?

"Uncle, you're lying to me, aren't you? Are you just making this up to comfort me because you don't want me to be sad?" Xue Mo said in a daze.

The orc uncle glared at her, then pulled Xue Mo into the house, pointing to the pile of food Shen Miao had left behind, saying, "See that? That's what the female beast left."
