"You and Veterinarian Lin are both my saviors," the beastman said earnestly.
Shen Miao smiled.
The orc quickly presented the gifts he had brought, saying, "This is a small token of my appreciation; please accept it."
Shen Miao looked down and found that the orc was really generous. The gift he brought included not only a pile of specially selected high-quality meat, but also a bag of beast crystals.
"There's no need for that," Shen Miao declined.
The orc insisted that she accept it, and seeing that he was sincere, Shen Miao didn't stand on ceremony. The orc breathed a sigh of relief, and as his gaze shifted, he saw what Shen Miao had been working on.
The snow-white substance, resembling salt, immediately caught his attention.
The orc took a step forward and asked in surprise, "What is that?"
"I made the salt myself."
The orc found it unbelievable; where could salt be so white? He didn't quite believe it, so he dipped his hand in it and tasted it. Sure enough, it was salt, salty and fragrant, without that bitter taste.
This is much better than the salt they eat now.
The orc immediately perked up, his eyes sparkling as he looked at Shen Miao: "How much of this salt do you have?"
Shen Miao thought about the vast ocean for a moment, smiled, and said, "You can have as much as you want."
The orc was stunned for a moment, then burst into uncontrollable excitement.
He suppressed his emotions and tried to remain calm, but a hint of urgency still crept into his voice: "Shen Miao, can I make a deal with you? I'll buy this salt from you, and we can sign a beast agreement."
The Beast Agreement is the contract in the Beastman world.
Shen Miao sized up the orc, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "You want to sell the salt elsewhere?"
"Yes, every tribe is short of salt," the orc said honestly.
Shen Miao agreed.
She made salt to help the people here, so there's no need to hide it.
The two readily signed the agreement, agreed on a time for the orcs to come and collect the salt, and left satisfied.
Shen Miao didn't hide anything from Qing Chen and told him about the trade with the orcs. Qing Chen didn't say much, but he admired Shen Miao's business acumen.
...
On the mountain.
Shen Miao moved nimbly through the mountains and forests, tracking a wild deer.
The wild deer was very alert and began to flee after spotting Shen Miao. The forest was its domain, and Shen Miao had some difficulty chasing it, but she had already spent so much time and didn't want to give up.
So they continued their pursuit.
The deer suddenly stopped, and Shen Miao stopped just as quickly. She quietly crouched down, gripping the stone spear tightly in her hand, hoping for a fatal blow...
"hiss."
Shen Miao suddenly felt a sharp pain in her wrist.
She turned her head to look and saw a snake hanging down from the tree, biting her hard. The snake's head was triangular, and Shen Miao's scalp tingled.
She reached out and swung her hand away, forcefully swatting the hanging snake away, her heart pounding wildly.
He quickly recalled first aid methods for snake bites, deftly tore off a piece of animal skin, and tied it above his wrist to slow the flow of venom and buy more time for treatment.
Having done all this, Shen Miao began to walk back.
After returning to the tribe, she went straight to Lin Shousheng. The two had previously worked together to capture wolf beastmen, and their relationship had become quite familiar.
Upon seeing the veterinarian, Shen Miao immediately extended her hand: "I was bitten by a snake, can you take a look at me?"
Lin Shousheng's originally nonchalant expression immediately turned into astonishment and shock upon hearing these words. Without thinking twice, he began to examine Shen Miao's wounds.
Because Shen Miao treated the wound properly, the toxin did not spread much, but her bitten wrist did swell up and turn slightly blue.
The veterinarian looked grave. He first squeezed out the venom from Shen Miao, then applied some herbs and bandaged her up. He said, "That's all I can do. Your fate is in your hands now. If there are no problems after two days of observation, you'll have escaped this ordeal, but this hand is definitely beyond saving."
Shen Miao: "!!!"
She's going to become a cripple in the beastman world?!
Who would raise her cubs? Absolutely not. She might as well just die.
Shen Miao was completely devastated. She hadn't been this distraught even when she was bitten by a snake. After leaving the veterinarian's house, she disregarded everything else, found a secluded spot, retrieved a serum from her healing space, and injected it into herself.
I hope you've saved your hand.
Shen Miao thought with lingering fear, "This world is too terrifying. There are all sorts of ways to die, and you could die if you're not careful."
Although the serum was injected, the medicine didn't work very quickly, and Shen Miao's hand was still very swollen.
She returned home empty-handed. The children were overjoyed to see Shen Miao back and didn't notice her strange hand. It was Qing Chen who immediately noticed something was wrong.
What happened to your hand?
Shen Miao was surprised that even though she had tried her best to hide it, Qing Chen still noticed it, and she couldn't help but sigh at how good his eyesight was.
Having been discovered, Shen Miao didn't try to hide anything. Gu Yan said in a nonchalant tone, "She was bitten by a snake, but it's nothing serious."
Unexpectedly, as soon as she finished speaking, Qingchen and the children's expressions changed.
"How did you get bitten by a snake?" Qingchen asked anxiously.
This was the first time Shen Miao had ever seen him so out of control, and she was momentarily stunned.
She didn't want to, but the snake just bit her.
Qingchen gritted his teeth and said, "You still don't take it seriously? Do you know that 70% of people who are bitten by venomous snakes don't survive?"
Shen Miao blinked. Was it that serious?
That's true. There's no serum in this world, so treatment depends entirely on luck, and survival also depends entirely on luck.
"Waaah, Mommy's been bitten by a poisonous snake! Is she going to die? Waaah, I don't want Mommy to die!"
When the children heard that Shen Miao was going to die, they all burst into tears.
The four little ones clung to Shen Miao's legs, crying so hard they flooded Jinshan Temple.
The children knew that if they died, they would never see each other again, and the thought of never seeing Shen Miao again made them heartbroken.
Shen Miao glanced at Qing Chen, signaling him to stop talking, then bent down and patiently comforted the children.
“My little ones, listen to me, things aren’t as bad as you think. Mommy has already seen the vet, and the vet said I’ll be fine in a couple of days, so please don’t cry, okay?”
"Really? It'll be better in just two days?" the kids sobbed.
Shen Miao nodded solemnly.
He glanced at Qingchen again, signaling him to say a few words quickly.
Qingchen reluctantly agreed, saying, "She's right."
Shen Miao: "..."
For the next two days, the children and Qingchen were very worried. Although Qingchen's face didn't reveal anything, every time Shen Miao came over, his eyes would focus on her hands.
They probably wanted to protect the babies if she died; this was a roundabout way of showing concern, Shen Miao thought with a bittersweet smile.
