There are limited things you can do on a snowy day, so Shen Miao simply made a few pairs of ice skates and took the kids to skate on the frozen river.
At first, none of the kids knew how to skate and fell several times. But after they gradually mastered the tricks, they became more and more skilled at skating. They even learned some difficult moves on their own, as if they were putting on an ice skating show.
More and more orcs from the tribe came out to watch, each one filled with astonishment.
"Oh my god, what are those? Why don't they fall down?"
"Dabao and the others are having such a great time, Daddy, I want to go up there and play too."
"We can't go. Didn't you notice their shoes are different? It's strange, I've never seen shoes like that before."
The beastmen discussed among themselves, their faces filled with envy.
The kids, in particular, kept pestering their dad to let them go ice skating, but unfortunately, they didn't have skates like Da Bao and the others.
The children were overjoyed and deliberately performed some difficult moves, eliciting gasps of surprise from the onlookers on the shore.
Seeing this, Shen Miao couldn't help but laugh and shake her head.
However, they didn't stop it.
The kids played on the river for a few days, and a group of little kids gathered there. They would come to watch Da Bao ice skate every day. Fu Lu was very envious and wanted to play too.
Da Bao wanted to lend the ice and snow to Fu Lu, so he came back to ask Shen Miao for her opinion. Shen Miao told him that ice skating was dangerous, and without an adult to supervise, it was easy to get injured the first time you played.
Da Bao thought Shen Miao's words made sense, and then explained the reason to Fu Lu. Fu Lu waved his hand to indicate that he understood.
The weather is getting colder and colder, but the ice still won't melt.
Shen Miao is afraid of the cold and rarely goes out. She stays at home warming herself by the fire and doesn't allow the children to go ice skating on the river anymore, as it's not safe without an adult watching them. However, she allows them to go out to play, but they can't go too far, or they won't be allowed to go out if she finds out.
The kids agreed and obediently wandered around the neighborhood.
Everything they saw was new and exciting. In previous years, during the snow season, they could only stay at home because their animal skins were too thin and they might freeze to death if they went out.
This year was different. Shen Miao prepared thick animal hides for them early on, and even used the foxes she had hunted to make a fur coat for each of the four cubs. They weren't cold at all when they wore it.
The little ones can run around freely.
"Wow, this tastes like the sweet candy Mommy gave me."
The cubs pointed to a block of ice that no orc had ever been to and exclaimed in surprise.
Beneath the ice was a patch of green grass, frozen together, looking very much like a green candy.
"I wonder if it's sweet. If it is, that would be great. We could have lots of candy to eat," Xiao Sibao said longingly.
Erbao didn't care: "Whether it's sweet or not, we'll know once we lick it."
Everyone agreed that it made sense.
Da Bao volunteered, "I'll lick it. If it's sweet, we'll take it all back for Daddy and the others to eat."
"Yay!" Little Sibao clapped his hands and cheered.
Da Bao lay down on the ground and gently licked the ice cube.
It's so cold, but I can't taste anything.
The children eagerly asked, "How is it? Is it sweet?"
Da Bao was about to try again when he suddenly realized that he couldn't retract his tongue. What was going on?
Da Bao panicked and tried to pull back with all his might, even hurting his tongue, but he still couldn't pull it back.
Now, the other little ones are getting anxious too.
"Da Bao, push harder!" Er Bao said anxiously.
Da Bao was on the verge of tears. He knew he had to try, but it was no use.
Sanbao squatted down, examined it carefully, and said, "No, Dabao's tongue is stuck to the ice."
"What? Does that mean Da Bao won't be able to eat without a tongue?" Xiao Si Bao's eyes turned red with fright as he looked pitifully at his older brother.
Erbao said with a serious expression, "Dabao is too weak on his own, let's help him together."
The kids thought it made sense, so they all reached out, one pulling Da Bao's waist, one pulling Da Bao's head, and one pulling Da Bao's tongue.
Da Bao was in so much pain that tears immediately welled up in his eyes.
"No, no, Da Bao seems to be in a lot of pain, he's crying." San Bao quickly told his two younger siblings to stop.
Little Sibao stomped on the ice in anger and cursed in his childish voice, "It's all your fault! Give me back my big brother's tongue!"
Erbao's eyes lit up; he had an idea.
"Let's move this block of ice away, so Da Bao's tongue can come out."
His thinking was simple: if Da Bao's tongue couldn't be pulled off, then he would move the ice block away.
The kids all thought it made sense.
They bent over, sticking their buttocks out, and pushed the ice blocks with all their might.
"Push harder, and you'll be able to push it open soon!" Erbao cheered everyone on.
"I'm out of energy," Xiao Sibao said, feeling wronged.
"Hang in there, Sibao, you'll succeed soon."
A moment later, Sanbao exclaimed in surprise, "Erbao, I can't get my hand off!"
Sibao responded, "Me too."
Erbao's face was deathly pale, and his hands were stuck to the ice.
Now, none of the four little ones escaped; they were all stuck to the same piece of ice.
"Mmm mmm mmm."
Da Bao, whose tongue was stuck, was furious. "Idiots! They're all idiots!"
Erbao said with a long face, "Dabao, stop talking. We can't understand what you're saying."
Da Bao: "..."
I'm so angry, and my tongue hurts too.
The four little ones looked around, but there wasn't a soul in sight. After staying in one place for a while, they started to feel cold.
The cold wind was howling, and thick clouds were piling up in the sky.
"Waaah, I miss my mother so much."
Someone muttered something under their breath, and the other kids couldn't hold back any longer. Except for Da Bao, they all shouted loudly.
"Mother, help me!"
"Sibao is so cold, Mother, come quickly and save Sibao."
"Waaah, I never want to eat candy again."
The cries of several children calling for their mother formed a symphony in the wind and snow.
Ya Ling followed the sound and found several little ones sticking out their little bottoms, getting intimately acquainted with the ice in strange ways.
she:"……"
"What are you doing?" Ya Ling asked curiously.
Are they playing some new and interesting game again? Ya Ling suddenly became interested and wondered if she could join in.
Erbao ignored her, turned his head and snorted.
Only Xiao Sibao answered her, saying aggrievedly, "Our hands are stuck to the ice, and Da Bao's tongue is stuck too. We can't walk."
Ya Ling was taken aback by this unexpected turn of events.
"You, you, you, don't worry, I'll go find your mother." Ya Ling ran off in a flash.
A short while later, Shen Miao came over carrying a kettle of boiling water.
She poured boiling water on the ice, and the ice slowly melted, freeing the men's tongues and hands.
Erbao ran over and asked, "Dabao, is your tongue alright? Erbao, Sanbao, Sibao, are your hands alright?"
