The children knew that the biggest hero of the night was the little snow wolf, and they all rushed forward to hug the little snow wolf and wouldn't let go.
The little wolf cub spun around in the arms of several other cubs, its beautiful, aggressive eyes narrowing.
The little guy seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself.
Shen Miao smiled and told the children to go to bed.
The children, however, were wide awake and kept pestering Shen Miao, saying they couldn't sleep. Afraid that they would disturb Qing Chen, Shen Miao simply took them out.
"Mommy, where are we going?" Erbao asked excitedly.
Shen Miao glanced at him and said, "Let's go up the mountain to see the shooting stars."
Erbao asked in confusion, "What is a shooting star?"
You'll find out soon enough.
Shen Miao just noticed that there have been shooting stars streaking across the sky all night, but the terrain in the tribe is not very good, so they are not clear. The view is better from the top of the mountain.
The children, seemingly out of nowhere, were full of excitement and energy. Before long, the mother and her five children had climbed to the top of the mountain.
They were lucky; just as they reached the mountaintop, they were caught in a dense meteor shower. It was the first time the kids had ever seen such a sight, and they excitedly shouted.
"Mother, it looks so good, so good."
Little Sibao tugged at Shen Miao's clothes, his chubby face flushed with excitement.
It was the first time Shen Miao had ever seen so many meteors in such a dense array, and she was momentarily stunned. As she silently watched the meteor shower, she inexplicably thought of her past life.
The things that happened to her felt like a dream. Sometimes, she didn't even know whether the person she was now was real, or the person she was in her past life.
"Mother, I want a shooting star."
The deep and beautiful feelings didn't last long before Erbao's loud shout brought her back to reality.
She was speechless: "Do you think your mother is a goddess? Wanting a shooting star? Go ask for it in your dreams."
"No, no, I only want one. I want to take it back to show my daddy," Erbao said stubbornly.
Shen Miao had no choice but to coax him: "Alright, alright, the meteor shower is over. Let's go back and get some sleep. Mom will get you a meteor shower the next day."
Erbao was very excited.
When we got home, it was already past midnight. The kids were finally exhausted and fell asleep as soon as they lay down on the bed.
Shen Miao wasn't sleepy at all, and only closed her eyes briefly as dawn approached.
The next day, the babies were indeed unable to get up. Taking advantage of this time, Shen Miao made several star-shaped cakes out of flour. When the babies woke up, they saw them, excitedly rushed over, each grabbing one and starting to gnaw on it.
Only Erbao still remembered what happened last night and earnestly asked Chen Miao, "Mommy, where's my shooting star?"
Shen Miao calmly replied, "It's in your mouth."
Erbao quickly touched his mouth, only to find it covered in oil, all from the pancakes smeared on his face. He angrily said, "Mommy is lying, there are no stars at all."
"You're eating stars, aren't they exactly the same?" Shen Miao said seriously, trying to fool him.
Erbao had already taken a bite, but after looking at it from left to right, he still couldn't figure out what the cake had to do with stars. Based on his little intuition, he said, "That's not how it works. Shooting stars shine, but this one doesn't."
Shen Miao made up a lie: "I used up all my energy last night to glow, so I won't be able to glow today."
Erbao refused to accept this fact. He jumped off the stone bench and said angrily, "That's not how it is. Mother is wrong."
After saying that, he ran outside.
Shen Miao hurriedly asked, "Where are you going?"
Erbao ran off quite fast, leaving behind the words, "I'm going to find the stars, Mommy, don't worry about me." He disappeared in no time.
Shen Miao chased after her for a few steps, then stopped.
Fine, let him look for it if he wants. He'll come back when he can't find it.
Erbao was gone for most of the day, and Shen Miao finally couldn't stay calm any longer and decided to go find him. Just then, Erbao came in from outside, carrying a huge rock and panting.
"Erbao, where did you go? We were so worried about you."
"Yes, Mother is looking for you. Where did you go?"
"What are you holding? Hey, isn't this a rock? Wow, this rock looks like a honeycomb."
The children swarmed around it.
Erbao put down the stone, wiped his sweat, and although he was panting and looked very tired, his voice was very excited: "I'm going to find the stars."
"What? Where are the stars?" Sanbao asked in surprise, looking left and right as if the shooting stars had been hidden away.
Erbao turned his head to show him the stone on the ground and announced, "This is the stone; it's the shooting star from last night."
The children were stunned. The fourth child asked, bewildered, "But Mommy already gave us the shooting star to eat this morning."
"Hmph, that's not it, that's food, not a shooting star at all. This is the real shooting star."
The children all looked at Shen Miao.
Helpless, Shen Miao touched her nose, walked over, stared at the meteorite on the ground, and asked Erbao curiously, "Zai, where did you find this?"
"Never mind that, are you lying to us? Why did you say the pancake was a shooting star, this is the real one, you big liar!" Erbao said angrily.
"Um," Shen Miao was at a loss for words, racking her brains for an excuse, when the other children also realized what was going on and said in unison, "Mother, you're so mean! You actually lied to us! We're never going to talk to you again!"
Shen Miao hurriedly said, "No, listen to me..."
Hmph, I won't listen!
The children turned around and ran away, giving Shen Miao no chance to explain herself.
Looking at the four arrogant little figures, Shen Miao felt like crying.
Now I finally understand what it means to dig your own grave.
How could this be? Is this really a five-year-old? Erbao, that little devil, he's just here to sabotage us.
The kids are quite principled; they'll ignore you if they want to. Even the youngest of the four, when he sees Shen Miao, will look at her with a reproachful gaze.
Seeing this, Shen Miao felt incredibly guilty and regretted countless times why she had lied to these little brats.
To appease the little one, Shen Miao went to great lengths, making honey osmanthus cake and two dishes she had never made before: squirrel-shaped mandarin fish and stir-fried beef.
The taste, which they had never experienced before, instantly won over the hearts of the little ones.
Enjoying the meal, she forgot all about the "grudge." Little Sibao even snuggled into Shen Miao's arms without realizing it. Shen Miao picked her up and fed her a few bites of meat.
The other cubs affectionately called out "Mother," and Shen Miao chuckled inwardly. Sure enough, no one could resist the temptation of delicious food, and the cubs of the beastman world were no exception.
Under Shen Miao's care, Qingchen ate and slept well, but the melancholy in his eyes grew deeper day by day.
Several times, he looked at Shen Miao with a hesitant expression, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.
After Shen Miao discovered it, she pretended not to see it and just wanted to see when he would say it.
Finally, on this day, Qingchen spoke.
