Chapter 74 Taking in Stray Animals

Not long after Shen Miao left, Jiu Ying, who was huddled in the corner, opened her eyes.

He got up, tiptoed out of the house, and headed straight for the abandoned stone house at the back. After the tribe's beastmen refused to accept the sick beasts anymore, they had no choice but to live there together.

Erbao saw this in the room and asked Dabao, "He ran away, are you really not going to stop him?"

Da Bao said expressionlessly, "Why stop him? He left on his own, so the bet doesn't count."

"But Mother will definitely be angry."

"I don't know, did you see him leave?"

Erbao was stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized and said with a smile, "Dabao, you are so cunning. I always thought you were steady and reliable, but you are much smarter than me."

Da Bao curled the corners of his mouth slightly, without arguing.

When Jiuying arrived at the abandoned stone house, his companions were sitting together. When they saw Jiuying, they all stood up and asked in surprise, "Jiuying, what brings you here? Did that female beast also drive you out?"

Jiuying did not answer that question. Instead, she glanced at all the orcs with a solemn expression and asked, "Are they all here?"

Despite not understanding, everyone nodded.

Knowing they would go berserk, the orcs were unwilling to accept them anymore. If it weren't for Shen Miao's guarantee, the orcs wouldn't have even wanted them to stay in the tribe.

They're just being herded into the abandoned stone house for now. If Shen Miao can't develop a cure within three months, they'll still be driven away.

“Alright, listen to me, let’s leave here and go somewhere else.” Jiuying got straight to the point.

Upon hearing this, all the beastmen were shocked. Some even thought he was ill and talking nonsense. One beastman scolded, "Nine Infants, what nonsense are you talking about? We finally have a place to stay. You are not allowed to say such things again."

Jiuying said sadly, "It is precisely because they took us in that we cannot repay kindness with enmity. Let's leave and not become such ungrateful beastmen."

"Nine Infants, shut up! If you want to leave, leave yourself. We're not leaving!" the beastmen said angrily.

They thought Jiuying had gone mad.

However, Jiuying knew that if they didn't leave, it would cause trouble for Shenmiao.

That female beast was so kind, how could they be so selfish?

Jiuying's attitude hardened: "You must leave. You all must leave. Don't lose your basic conscience for a little comfort. I despise you."

"What did you say, Jiuying? Say it again."

Enraged, the beastmen surrounded Jiuying, as if they would beat him up if he said another word.

Jiuying raised his head and said, word by word, "I say you are despicable, taking advantage of other people's kindness. You are not worthy of being beastmen. Beastmen are not as cowardly and weak as you."

No sooner had he finished speaking than a beastman's fist slammed into Jiuying's face, knocking him to the ground.

"You dare to talk nonsense? I'll teach you a lesson for talking nonsense!"

Nine-Headed Serpent showed no fear, a contemptuous smile playing on its lips: "Cowards, cowards."

A group of people rushed forward.

They punched and kicked Jiuying, but Jiuying was no match for their four hands and was forced to curl up on the ground. Soon, Jiuying was beaten black and blue and covered in injuries.

The orcs who hadn't started the fight pretended to be good people and came over to mediate: "Alright, alright, we all came together, there's no need to make it like this, what's going on? Stop fighting, Jiuying, get up too, hurry back, stop saying those things, everyone has a hard time, if you let everyone leave, you're cutting off their path to survival."

While seemingly helping Jiuying, they were actually criticizing him, feeling that he shouldn't have meddled in other people's business.

Nine-Headed Serpent was filled with grief and indignation. He got up, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and glanced at the ferocious orcs. He sneered, "You won't leave? Fine, I'll leave."

After saying that, he turned around and headed towards the back of the mountain.

"Hey, Jiuying, where are you going? You've gone the wrong way. The way back to the tribe is this way. Come back."

Jiuying ignored the shouts behind her, straightened her back, and took each step with great determination.

Inside the stone house, the orcs watched his figure, and for a moment no one spoke; it was very quiet.

After a while, a young orc sneered, "What an idiot, pretending to be so high and mighty. He thinks people will be grateful to him for leaving, but they'll just think he's stupid."

Immediately, someone chimed in, "Exactly, there's no need at all. That female beast already said she could cure our illnesses, but he insisted on leaving. He must be out of his mind."

As the beastmen talked, they realized they were making a lot of sense, and the atmosphere warmed up again.

No more orcs paid attention to the figure walking alone into the back mountain.

A bolt of lightning suddenly streaked across the sky, followed by muffled claps of thunder on the horizon.

A heavy rain is coming.

When Shen Miao came out of Lin Shousheng's house, she found that the sky had suddenly turned dark. She was startled and quickly quickened her pace, rushing home.

After arriving home, Shen Miao walked towards the room where Jiu Ying was, intending to talk to him about the treatment.

He pushed open the door, only to find the room empty except for the rope binding him hanging there.

Shen Miao searched the house but couldn't find anyone, so she went to look for the children. The children were playing a game of cops and robbers behind the house, a game that Shen Miao had taught them.

She asked the children where Jiuying had gone, and Da Bao calmly replied, "Uncle Jiuying has left."

"Where did he go? Why didn't you stop him?" Shen Miao asked anxiously. In this weather, why was he still running outside? What was he thinking?

Da Bao blinked his eyes: "We can't stop her, Mommy, we're still little babies."

Erbao chimed in, "Yes, Uncle Jiuying is so powerful! Didn't you tell us not to go near him, Mom?"

At that time, Jiuying went berserk, so Shenmiao naturally didn't let them get close to him.

But it seems like there's nothing wrong with what the kids say.

"Then do you know which way he went?"

"Hmm, this way then," Da Bao pointed in a direction.

Erbao shook his head: "No, no, it's this way. Uncle Jiuying went this way."

Shen Miao looked at the two completely opposite directions and fell silent.

Da Bao glanced at her expression and said weakly, "Mother, I remember Uncle Jiu Ying went in this direction. Di Er Bao is mistaken."

"I didn't remember wrong, you're the one who's wrong, Mother. I have the best memory. Uncle Jiuying left the tribe and went this way," Erbao argued indignantly.

"No, Uncle Jiuying is still in the tribe, he hasn't gone out at all."

Shen Miao raised her hand to stop them from arguing further and said in a deep voice, "I understand. I will go to the tribe to look for it. You two should go back inside quickly. It will rain soon, so don't linger outside."

The children quickly said, "Mommy, it's raining, why are you still looking? Don't look anymore, Uncle Jiuying will come back on his own."

"Mother will go and take a look, she'll be back soon."

After saying this, Shen Miao quickly left.
