Chapter 76 Encountering Danger

Fire Tiger returned dejectedly.

Jiuying rushed forward and asked anxiously, "How is she? Has she left?"

He didn't follow Shen Miao when she ran away, afraid of being discovered.

Seeing Huo Hu return, Huo Hu could no longer contain himself. He was somewhat dejected, and his beast eyes glanced guiltily at Jiu Ying. Then he walked to the side, first banging his big head against a tree, and then his body went limp and fell down.

Jiuying looked on in confusion: "What are you doing?"

Fire Tiger was anxious, so he got up and performed it again.

Jiuying observed carefully for a while, then suddenly her expression changed: "You mean, she's injured, fainted? Or something else?"

Huo Hu lowered his head, not daring to speak.

"Take me there quickly!" Jiu Ying's face was as dark as the sky before a storm.

Huo Hu obediently led him to where Shen Miao had fainted. As soon as Jiu Ying saw the person lying on the ground, he rushed over, carefully helped her up, checked Shen Miao's breathing, and breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that she was still breathing.

But seeing the large rat beside her, she became furious. "Didn't I tell you not to hurt her? Why didn't you listen to me?"

Huo Hu was dejected and felt very wronged after being scolded.

It didn't hurt her; she bumped into the tree herself.

"Don't pretend to be wronged. Pretending won't hide the fact that you hurt her," Jiu Ying said seriously.

Fire Tiger hung its big head and remained silent.

Jiuying was also worried and scolded Huohu a few times. Then he became worried about Shenmiao's condition, so he carefully picked her up and took her to a nearby cave.

When Shen Miao woke up, she was still a little groggy. Jiu Ying came close to her and asked with concern, "You're awake. Is anything bothering you? Does your head hurt?"

Shen Miao looked at the savage in front of her and subconsciously leaned back.

Jiuying touched his face, which was covered in stubble and had long hair. He felt a little helpless and swept his hair back to reveal his familiar features.

"Nine Infants?" Shen Miao exclaimed in surprise, then scrambled to her feet. "I've been looking for you for so long, I've finally found you! Come back with me right now."

Jiuying chuckled awkwardly and shook her head, saying, "I'm not going back..."

Shen Miao said sternly, "Why don't you go back? I haven't settled the score with you for running away without permission yet. You have to come back with me."

“Chen Miao, I know you mean well, but I can’t drag you down with me,” Jiu Ying said, lowering her head.

Shen Miao raised an eyebrow: "Why is it that I'm being dragged into this? Oh, I see. You think that if I can't develop a cure for you in three months, I'll have to die with you, right?"

Jiuying remained silent, tacitly acknowledging that this was his opinion.

Shen Miao was both amused and exasperated: "Do you think I'm stupid? The fact that I dared to make that bet with them means that I can definitely do it. I would never joke with my own life."

"Really?"

"Of course, okay, you don't need to think too much about it, just stay put, this is my business."

Jiuying hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, "Alright, I'll go down the mountain with you tomorrow."

Shen Miao became happy: "That's more like it."

At home.

The children were extremely anxious, as Shen Miao had been on the mountain for several days and had not yet returned.

The rain kept them from going out a few days ago, but as soon as the rain stopped today, the kids immediately decided to go up the mountain to look for their loved ones.

Qingchen stopped them: "You're not allowed to go."

"Father, what if something happens to Mother?" the children asked anxiously.

Qingchen looked at the sky outside and said indifferently, "She is an adult female beast, while you are just cubs. If something can happen to her, then the chances of something happening to you when you go out are even greater."

This sentence is a bit awkward, and the kids didn't understand it.

Qingchen didn't explain, but simply ordered the children not to go out for the next few days.

The children were heartbroken, but they dared not disobey Qingchen's wishes.

Compared to the children, Qingchen found all of this absurd.

The female beast had been pretending for so long, but she finally couldn't keep up the act any longer. She hadn't returned for so many days, and only the cubs, not understanding, would believe that she was still on the mountain.

She probably planned this all along; once she leaves, she'll likely never come back.

Qingchen sneered, but as he laughed, he felt the wound on his leg hurt even more.

Inside the cave.

Shen Miao lay on the dry grass, feeling very sleepy. Although the cave was not as comfortable as home, Jiu Ying had made it very comfortable. The ground was covered with dry grass, and it was not cold at all; in fact, it was quite warm.

For the first time in a long time, she could sleep peacefully.

Before falling asleep, Shen Miao still reminded Jiu Ying with concern: "Come back with me tomorrow morning. You promised yourself, so don't go back on your word."

"Okay, go to sleep now, I won't cheat." Jiu Ying smiled, but the smile was somewhat strange.

But because of the dim lighting, Shen Miao didn't notice.

She was very tired and soon fell into a deep sleep.

I slept soundly until dawn.

Shen Miao sat up and stretched. A breeze blew in from the cave entrance, making her feel much more awake. She was about to call Jiu Ying when she discovered that the place where Jiu Ying had been lying last night was now empty.

There was only a large leaf nearby, with a few wild fruits nestled in it.

Shen Miao understood after a moment's thought, and instantly burst into a rage, cursing, "Jiuying, you bastard! You lie without even thinking! I trusted you so much! If you have the guts to leave, then at least leave no trace behind!"

That way she can act as if nothing happened yesterday.

Shen Miao was furious. She grabbed a fruit, took a big bite, and almost lost her teeth from the sourness.

She left the cave and searched the surrounding area, but couldn't find anyone. She was a little disappointed. Of course, she couldn't find him. If Jiuying wanted to leave, she could just hide somewhere nearby and she wouldn't be able to find him.

Shen Miao walked listlessly to the riverbank, bent down to wash her face. The water was a bit murky, probably because of the heavy rain. Suddenly, a fish leaped up in front of her, splashing water all over Shen Miao.

"Damn it, even a fish dares to bully me! I'm going to catch you and roast you today!"

Shen Miao rolled up her sleeves, ready to catch fish with great momentum, but she slipped and fell headfirst into the water, swallowing several mouthfuls of water in the process.

Ugh, she can't swim! Shen Miao instinctively started to struggle, but the more she struggled, the faster she sank.

Shen Miao was already in despair, cursing Jiu Ying in her heart for being unreliable, and her body slowly sank down.

Just then, a figure rushed over, plunged into the water, lifted Shen Miao up, and swam towards the shore. Shen Miao was no longer fully conscious, but she still remembered to hold on tightly to the person.

"You're not leaving again, Jiuying, you untrustworthy bastard, your words are like farts." Shen Miao accused him, her words muffled.

Jiuying assumed she wasn't talking about herself, took her to the shore, and left before Shenmiao could fully regain consciousness.

Her arm was gripped tightly, and a weak voice sounded from behind her: "Where do you think you're going again?"
