Chapter 33 Cold-Hearted General 2

Time flies like an arrow, and more than half a month has passed in the blink of an eye.

Sometimes Ah Li would hunt wild animals in the mountains and forests, and then go into the village to see if anyone was looking for her. If not, she would go back to find Yan Siming.

Yan Siming's injuries were healing day by day. He even made his own bow and arrows and tried them out in front of Ali several times. Each time, he was able to hit pheasants and rabbits with his bow and arrows.

Yan Siming would sometimes stare blankly at his throbbing wound, and other times he would call Ali over and say, "Let me teach you some martial arts."

Ahri didn't know why he had such thoughts, but Ahri shook her head and said, "I can protect myself, so don't worry about me. The most important thing is to recover from my injuries."

Ah Li knew that Yan Siming was a general, and he himself had no intention of hiding it from him.

Ah Li flipped over the roast chicken in front of her, watching the heat carefully, and said as if chatting casually, "The village has been very peaceful lately. No outsiders have come, and there are no strangers."

However, in the original owner's memory, someone would have already come looking for Yan Siming by this time.

Ah Li thought that perhaps it was because she saved the person that the butterfly effect was triggered.

Yan Siming, who was still tightening the bowstring, didn't say anything more after hearing this.

After they finished eating, Yan Siming followed behind Ali and said, "Let's go hunting together. I'll teach you how to make some traps later, so you won't have to go looking for prey every day."

Ahri smiled and said, "We still have to look for them, otherwise what prey would be so foolish as to run into a trap?"

Yan Siming didn't say anything; he simply arrived at a spot and started digging a hole.

Ahri was also thinking of putting up some markers nearby to prevent other people from accidentally wandering in.

Yan Siming stopped her, saying, "No need. People who frequently enter and leave this deep forest can usually spot these kinds of traps."

"You stay here and do this, I'll go pick some mushrooms." Ahri said, then slung her small basket over her shoulder and left.

Yan Siming, on the other hand, left a unique mark on each tree, hoping that those who would come looking for him would find it.

Ah Li was aware of his little tricks. After all, Yan Siming was no ordinary person; he was a general. If the general didn't appear for too long, it would shake the morale of the army.

Because Yan Siming hunts with him, Ah Li has a huge headache every day, as he can't possibly finish all the food.

Hearing Ah Li's mutterings, Yan Siming picked up the prey and said, "I'll go down the mountain to exchange it."

"Huh? Should we take it to exchange?" Ahri quickly followed.

Yan Siming said, "We need to prepare some more clothes for both of you."

Ali looked at his clothes, which were washed until they were faded, with patches on his arms and knees. He also noticed that Yan Siming was wearing clothes that Ali had asked someone in the village to exchange for him. They didn't fit well and were a bit short, which was indeed quite inconvenient at times.

Ah Li followed Yan Siming, and the two entered the village one after the other.

After asking several households, they finally managed to exchange their prey for the other animals.

"Silly girl!"

An old man at the entrance of the village saw the two of them and called out, "Ali!"

Ah Li quickly ran up and sweetly called out, "Grandpa Wang." After calling out, she even patted his shoulder.

Grandpa Wang said, "You've lived in the mountains for so long, and you've hunted good game. Tomorrow, come with me to the nearby town, and you can exchange some money for some things."

The house where Ah Li is currently living is the temporary residence that Grandpa Wang sometimes stays in the mountains when he goes hunting. He happened to meet Ah Li and Yan Siming when he went into the mountains that day.

Ah Li briefly recounted how she rescued Yan Siming, and since the village was full of curious and gossipy people, she didn't bring him back to the village.

Grandpa Wang always doted on the simple-minded girl, and he hoped that she would have someone to help her in the future. So even though Yan Siming's demeanor clearly indicated that he was no ordinary person, Grandpa Wang still helped take good care of him.

Grandpa Wang was still thinking that although the silly girl looked simple-minded, she was still pretty.

These two might develop feelings for each other through their interactions.

Yan Siming didn't speak, but Ali said, "Grandpa Wang, we've already given all the prey to the villagers today."

"Then let him continue fighting up the mountain."

"right."

Ali nodded in agreement, and then looked at Yan Siming with Grandpa Wang.

When these two looked at Yan Siming, they felt that he was no longer a general, but a hunter.

"Yan Siming, I want to go to town."

Ahri whispered, "The candied hawthorns in town are delicious."

Yan Siming looked into Ah Li's expectant eyes and said, "Okay, I'll go back and hunt more game."

"Yan Siming, you're so kind!"

Ah Li walked up to Yan Siming with a grin and said to Grandpa Wang, "Grandpa Wang, Yan Siming and I are going up the mountain first. We'll come back to see you tomorrow."

"Okay." After feeding the cow the grass in his hand, Grandpa Wang went back with his hands behind his back.

After returning, Yan Siming didn't rest. He first went to check the traps he had set earlier, and then, before it got dark, he caught several large pheasants and even found a nest of wild eggs.

Ali caught a few fish and planned to make grilled fish and fish soup; that would be enough for dinner tonight.

Yan Siming turned his head and saw Ali sitting quietly by the fire, his head down as he continued doing his own thing.

After Ah Li finished cooking, she immediately called out to Yan Siming, "Come and eat!"

Yan Siming has finished tying the knot in his hand. Tomorrow, he can tie the wild animal up and take it down the mountain.

Ali placed a grilled fish into Yan Siming's hand, and then she drank the delicious fish soup herself.

After eating, Ali went straight to sleep. Before falling asleep, she said to Yan Siming, "Yan Siming, you should go to sleep early too. We have to get up early tomorrow."
