The four heads were mangled and bloody because the woman didn't have enough strength to chop them properly.
But the woman wasn't afraid at all. She found some ropes, grabbed the four heads, and went outside.
The two children even went to fetch stools to help their mother hang the four heads on her door.
Ah Li looked at the elderly woman and called out her name: "Grandma Yun?"
The old woman immediately knelt down, her head bowed, still wondering: How did this person know she was Granny Yun?
The young woman, Yingniang, returned with two children, both of whom had blood on their hands.
Ahri glanced at them and said expressionlessly, "Someone sent a bride to Ghost City, saying that she was going to take the lives of the four of you, so the people from Ghost City came."
Yingniang's blood-stained hands trembled uncontrollably. She knew who it was—that heartless man. She had supported his studies and his journey to the capital for the imperial examinations. But after he became the top scholar, he lied and claimed he had never married, instead marrying the third princess of the dynasty.
When she heard the news, she didn't think of taking her child to find him; she assumed he was dead somewhere. But he sent people to kill them and to rape them.
How utterly hateful!
Ah Li walked to Ying Niang's side, reached out and lifted Ying Niang's chin, "Did you think that the heartless man sent someone to kill you? No, it was the princess. The princess discovered you. Only the princess would send the most beautiful and delicate woman, and that woman even entered the city lord's mansion."
Yingniang pulled her two children and knelt down before Ali again. She knew that Ali must have had her reasons for telling her all this.
Ah Li chuckled twice; she liked Ying Niang's cleverness.
Ahri said, "I will arrange for you to work in the city lord's mansion. You two keep a close eye on that woman, and you don't need to do anything else."
Granny Yun trembled uncontrollably. The Ghost City Lord's Mansion—was that a place a living person could enter?
Without a second thought, Yingniang replied, "Okay."
Ahri looked at the two children and said, "You two seem to envy me. Aren't you afraid of me?"
"Um."
These two children are twins and look very alike.
Ah Li laughed again. She touched the long whip at her waist and said, "This is the first time anyone has been unafraid of me. You are all very good. Then I will have someone teach you music, chess, calligraphy, painting, and all eighteen martial arts. Are you willing?"
Upon hearing Ah Li's words, Ying Niang looked at Ah Li with great excitement, her lips trembling, unable to utter a single word.
If her two daughters can truly master martial arts, then they won't have to be like fish on a chopping board, at the mercy of others, as they are today.
The two children said in unison, "We want to, we also want to learn how to crack a whip."
Ah Li's smile faded, and she said thoughtfully, "Learning to use a whip, you know? In Ghost City, if someone uses a whip, it means they want to replace me. Do you want to replace me too?"
Yingniang quickly pulled the two children back and said to Ali, "Benefactor, the two children will not learn to wield the whip anymore. They will not replace you!"
The two girls remained silent; they simply wanted to learn how to use a whip.
Ah Li didn't care. She said, "You're not considered people of Ghost City yet. You can learn to use whips if you want, but the master who's willing to teach you will definitely have other things too. You can go and take a look."
Yingniang looked at Ali with great gratitude, and knelt down with her two children before Ali, saying, "Thank you, benefactor."
"Once you've arranged for the two children to learn martial arts, you can go to the City Lord's Mansion. Of course, you can still come and go as you please at the City Lord's Mansion. Just tell the steward in the front courtyard, and you can still go out to see the children."
"good."
Yingniang agreed.
Ah Li also asked Ying Niang to take the two children to wash up and tidy up, and then she would leave with them now.
Granny Yun remained kneeling in place. She didn't want to leave; she didn't want to go. But someone had died in the cellar, and there was a large patch of dark red blood and a corpse in the courtyard. She dared not stay.
At this moment, Ah Li took out a blue porcelain bottle and walked towards Granny Yun.
When Ah Li stopped in front of Granny Yun, Granny Yun dared not move.
After waiting for a long time without hearing Ahri speak, she finally looked up at Ahri tremblingly.
Ah Li looked down at Granny Yun and threw the porcelain bottle in her hand in front of her. "This is bone-dissolving water. Pour it on those people and I guarantee it won't leave any marks. Only the person who sent you to kill you will think that the four heads outside the door are yours."
Grandma Yun didn't want to die, and she didn't want to live in fear of being killed every day.
Granny Yun reached out and picked up the porcelain bottle. She stood up awkwardly, clutching the bottle tightly, and walked toward the four headless corpses.
"Remember to cover your mouth and nose, this smells terrible."
Granny Yun was very obedient. She covered her mouth and nose, opened the blue porcelain bottle, and poured the liquid inside onto the corpse.
A corrosive sound rang out, and white smoke rose up wherever the liquid passed.
Granny Yun dared not look at how the corpses had turned into what they were; she wanted to pour out all the bone-dissolving water from the porcelain bottle.
Ahri then added, "Oh, and take care of the one in the cellar too."
Granny Yun then put away the porcelain bottle and headed towards the cellar with a pale face.
Ahri said, "Remember to clean it up properly."
"good."
Granny Yun went into the cellar alone.
Not long after, Granny Yun rushed out of the cellar, covering her mouth, and ran to the side, dry heaving.
Ahri wasn't surprised at all. She turned to look at the dark red bloodstains on the ground. There was no corpse there, and even the clothes had been completely corroded.
