However, that person did not tell Ahri the answer.
Instead, they said, "Don't ask too many questions about things you shouldn't know, otherwise knowing too much will harm you."
Ah Li picked up the silver from the ground and left.
However, after an incense stick's time, Ahri followed the masked person to a separate courtyard.
The man even looked behind him before knocking three times.
The door opened, and not long after the person went in, another person walked outside, looked around, and then went in and closed the door.
Ahri climbed over the courtyard wall and then walked along the wall in the shadows.
When she noticed the light not far away, she hid on the beam of the corridor outside the house and listened to the sounds inside.
"Master, that person should be dead."
Ahri recognized the words as coming from the person she had just met.
"Um."
One of the men responded, then added, "Can I relax now?"
As Ah Li listened, she felt that the voice sounded familiar, as if she had heard it before when she was in the Eastern Depot.
"Thank you, Second Prince. I only just learned about my background and don't know who to turn to..."
Ah Li recognized the woman inside the room as Yang Shuhuan's voice; the original owner of the body knew that voice.
Soon, Ah Li overheard the gist of it outside the house.
It turns out that Yang Shuhuan had learned about her true parentage and was crying inside, explaining that her mother and biological father had been misunderstood because of the machinations of the Seventeenth Princess's mother. That's why her mother left her father while pregnant with her.
Ah Li overheard this from outside, then spat it out, saying it was pure fabrication, made out of thin air.
The seventeenth princess's birth mother was just a lowly concubine, and she died in childbirth after giving birth to the seventeenth princess.
How could a mere concubine, who could barely even see the emperor, possibly scheme against those outside the palace?
Therefore, Ahri came to the conclusion that the Second Prince might not be very smart, or he might be just love-struck.
Otherwise, Yang Shuhuan would use him as a tool every time, and he would fall for it every time.
However, after Yang Shuhuan's voice subsided, Ali heard the door open.
The second prince came out and said to the people inside, "It's getting late, you should rest first, I'll come to find you again tomorrow."
The person inside responded, "Okay."
Ah Li didn't stay any longer; instead, she followed the Second Prince from a distance.
After leaving the courtyard, the second prince stopped.
The person who just met with Ahri has reappeared, and she's even taken off her mask.
"master."
Are you sure that the Jin princess in the Eastern Depot is dead?
"Yes, it was Leng Si who made the move."
"What about Leng Si?"
"He took the money and left. I told him to be careful lately."
The Second Prince continued, "I wonder how that mad dog from the Eastern Depot is doing now. The people there said that he treated the Princess of Jin differently. I wonder if he'll go even crazier now that she's dead. I also wonder if my good father will be furious and take his head if he can't hand over the Princess of Jin tomorrow?"
However, no one answered him.
Ah Li knew that the assassin was sent by the Second Prince, and now it seemed that the reason for killing her was to avenge Yang Shuhuan.
However, as he just said, he seems to have his own motives, and it's possible that they just happened to run into each other.
She didn't stay there any longer.
Since Yang Shuhuan enjoys hiding behind men and letting them become the knives in her hands, then she'll play along with her.
The banquet to welcome the envoys began the next day.
Xu Zhi sat in his seat, and Qin Ke sat opposite him, constantly looking in his direction.
Xu Zhi pretended not to see it.
The emperor, seated at the head of the table, said, "It's been a long time since I've seen the Princess of Jin. Why haven't I seen her today?"
Xu Zhi stood up and left his seat, then said, "Last night, assassins came from the Eastern Depot. Princess Jin was assassinated. I am ordering people to do their utmost to capture the assassins."
Qin Ke's wine glass clattered onto the table as he shouted, "Say that again!"
Xu Zhi looked over coldly and said again, "If the Qin envoy does not believe me, he may come back to the Eastern Depot with me after the banquet."
Qin Ke endured it, his eyes red, and said, "Of course I'll go."
At the same time, Qin Ke knelt heavily before the emperor, his voice filled with sorrow, "Your Majesty of Liang, my princess of Jin was assassinated in your country and tragically died. I implore Your Majesty to provide a reasonable explanation for this matter."
The Emperor of Liang was also very troubled; how could this man have died at such a crucial moment?
"Xu Zhi, this matter is entrusted to you. Find the murderer as soon as possible and give the State of Jin an explanation."
The Emperor of Liang spoke very slowly; at this moment, he had no interest in appreciating the song and dance.
After all, a princess had just died, so he still had to put on a show.
Xu Zhi said, "Yes, Your Majesty, I will spare no effort to find the murderer as soon as possible."
The Emperor of Liang waved wearily and left.
After the banquet ended, Qin Ke followed Xu Zhi closely, repeatedly saying, "I want to see the princess!"
Xu Zhi didn't say anything, and led his men to the Eastern Depot.
In the morgue of the Eastern Depot, Qin Ke walked up to the corpse, looking like he wanted to cry but couldn't. He asked in grief, "When did this happen last night? Who killed him? Were there any witnesses?"
"Last night at midnight, I don't know, there wasn't."
Xu Zhi had several more ice basins brought in and placed around the area.
Qin Ke then looked at Xu Zhi and asked, "Where are you? Why didn't you save her!"
Xu Zhi also wanted to know why he hadn't realized she was in danger back then, leaving her to face the assassin alone.
