The next day, Li Haotian had no memory of the incident. He clearly knew how he had plowed the land the night before, and he also deeply realized that there is no such thing as land that is ruined by plowing, only oxen that are exhausted to death.
However, he was a man of his word, and as soon as he got back, he sent his father, the village chief, to Su Yuhuan's house to propose marriage.
The day of their wedding coincided with Li Huaijin's.
Li Haotian also said to Li Huaijin, "See how loyal and good friends we are, getting married on the same day as you?"
Su Yuhuan watched Li Haotian with a smile. This guy is really... Oh well, he's the one I've set my sights on, and it's already a done deal, so let him be.
However, after Li Haotian finished speaking, he turned to Su Yuhuan and grinned foolishly. He didn't tell anyone that the two of them had slept together beforehand because he wanted to protect her. He also realized that he had already fallen in love with the girl in front of him, the kind of love at first sight.
He also wanted to love her and be together for the rest of his life.
?
That being said...
Ali and Li Huaijin went home together. Li's father was already up, holding the slingshot that Li Huaijin used to play with when he was a child.
Li Haotian and Su Yuhuan weren't there; it was Li's father who called them back.
Li Huaijin first put Ali down, and then said, "Father, we're back."
Mr. Li looked over with a smile and said, "It's good to be back. Have you eaten?"
Li Huaijin said, "Not yet, I'll go make it."
Ali followed Li Huaijin and said, "Dad, I'm going to help too."
"Okay, go ahead."
Mr. Li coughed twice and noticed that Ali and Li Huaijin had entered the kitchen hand in hand. He murmured, "That's nice."
In the kitchen, Li Huaijin cooked and stir-fried dishes over a fire, without needing Ali to help at all.
Li Huaijin would occasionally lean his face closer to Ali and say, "You're sweating."
"You're annoying."
Ah Li playfully scolded him while planting a kiss on his cheek.
When the meal was ready, Li Huaijin went to call his father over and solemnly told him, "Dad, Ali is pregnant."
Mr. Li said with a face full of joy, "Great, great! Our Li family has an heir."
Mr. Li was very happy and gratified; he even ate an extra bowl of rice than usual.
That night, Li's father gave Li Huaijin a box containing his life savings and said, "You two must take good care of yourselves from now on."
Li Huaijin and Ali did not return to their room that night, but instead stayed with Li's father.
That night, Li's father didn't let them go home to rest early. Instead, he asked Li Huaijin to help him change into a clean and tidy set of clothes, saying, "You all need to be well. Don't be sad or upset."
A gust of wind blew from somewhere and made the candlelight flicker.
Just as Li Huaijin stood up to close the door, his father fell asleep.
The room was so quiet that only the crackling of the candlelight and the occasional chirping of night birds could be heard from outside the window.
Li Huaijin handed the box his father had given him to Ali. Ali was slightly surprised. Li Huaijin said, "Keep it safe. I'll give you all the money I earn from hunting later."
Ahri pushed the box back and said, "Dad gave it to you, so keep it. Besides, what's yours is mine, and I don't need it now."
Li Huaijin smiled as he looked at Ali, and pulled her into his arms. He said, "You know what? I was really scared just now, afraid that my father would just leave like this."
Everything seemed like a final burst of energy before death; he was given his savings, new clothes, and an extra bowl of rice.
