Chapter 187 Hunting

Soon, the sharp-eyed Liuzi excitedly lowered his voice and shouted, "Look, there's a pheasant!"

Everyone looked in the direction he pointed, and saw a pheasant with colorful feathers leisurely strolling in the grass.

This pheasant has a nimble body and sharp eyes. It looks like a veteran who has experienced many battles in the mountains.

It seemed to sense something strange, and raised its head alertly, with the feathers on its neck slightly standing up.

Several young men in the village could not contain their excitement and were about to rush forward, but the pheasant suddenly spread its wings like a flash of lightning and flew low over the ground, trying to escape.

Everyone looked at the pheasant flying away, their faces filled with annoyance and frustration, except Uncle Hu, who still had an excited smile on his face.

Uncle Hu bent down slightly and picked up two stones from the ground. His eyes instantly became focused and sharp, like a cheetah locking onto its prey.

He just shook his wrist lightly, and the stone flew out as fast as an arrow, drawing two sharp arcs in the air.

With two muffled "puff" sounds, the stone hit the pheasant's head accurately.

The pheasant didn't even have time to make a sound before it fell from the sky like a kite with a broken string and landed heavily on the ground.

The annoyance on Liuzi's face instantly turned into ecstasy. He cheered, ran over quickly, carefully picked up the pheasant, and held it high. In the sunlight, the pheasant's feathers sparkled with colorful light. Seeing this, everyone burst into cheers and applause.

"Wow, Uncle Hu, you're so awesome!" Da Zhuang held the pheasant tightly in his hand, his face flushed with excitement, his eyes full of respect and admiration for Uncle Hu.

"Yeah, it looks like we won't be short of meat today!" The big tiger next to him also grinned, revealing a row of white teeth. As he spoke, he rubbed his hands together, as if he had seen a sumptuous wild game feast in front of him. His mouth-watering look caused a burst of laughter from the people around him.

"Okay, everyone, go somewhere else and look for other prey. Don't gather together." Uncle Hu looked at this group of energetic young people, and a sense of pride surged in his heart.

He quickly divided the more than 20 people into three teams based on their physical fitness and personality characteristics.

The first team included several agile and quick-reacting young men, led by Dahu, who were instructed to explore the eastern area where the forest was denser; the second team selected several people with good eyesight, patience and meticulousness, led by Su Wenjun, and asked them to head south where there was a stream; the third team was led by Uncle Hu himself to search the open area on the west side.

Uncle Hu looked at the three teams with a determined gaze and said loudly, "Everyone, be careful and stay in touch. We will meet here in an hour."

After saying that, the three teams quickly dispersed in their respective directions and disappeared into the mountains and forests.

In the blink of an hour, the hunting team gradually appeared in everyone's sight.

They were all in good shape, and each of them was holding at least two pheasants or rabbits.

Uncle Hu was even more heroic. He shot a fawn by himself. Although the fawn was no longer alive, its graceful and agile posture could still be seen.

The villagers who stayed in the camp were originally sitting or lying down bored, but when they saw the hunting team returning with a full load, their eyes suddenly lit up with surprise and excitement, and they all gathered around.

"That's great, we finally have meat to eat!" A child jumped happily, clapping his hands excitedly, and his clear laughter echoed in the camp.

The village chief also came over after hearing the noise. Looking at the dazzling array of prey in everyone's hands, he smiled so much that the wrinkles on his face seemed to be smoothed out by this joy.

He said with emotion: "This south is really good. Look around here, it's full of lush greenery. Not only is the scenery pleasant, but there are also plenty of prey. It's much better than our north."

After saying that, he quickly directed everyone: "Come on, don't just stand there, hurry up and clean up the prey. We still have to continue our journey in the afternoon, so be quick."

So everyone got busy, some were responsible for skinning, some were responsible for cleaning, and the camp was lively and cheerful.

Uncle Hu held the fawn steadily in his hands, his eyes lingering on it for a moment, but his mind couldn't help but emerge with the few cooking experiences he had in the past. The images of the meals he had made horribly flashed through his mind one by one. His poor cooking skills really made it difficult for him to cook this fresh prey.

He thought for a moment, then looked up and saw Su Wenjun not far away. He strode over, handed the deer in his hand to Su Wenjun, and said, "Wenjun, my son and I are not good at cooking, so I'll leave this deer to you. When you're done, just give us a share."

Su Wenjun looked at Uncle Hu's sincere and slightly helpless eyes, then glanced at the plump little deer. A cheerful smile appeared on his face, and he agreed without hesitation: "Okay, Uncle Hu, don't worry, I'll send it to you when it's done."

Su Wenjun carried a deer and a pheasant steadily and walked back to his camp.

As soon as I got home, my family members looked at me with shock and curiosity. Everyone gathered around and talked about it.

Su Wencheng's eyes widened, and he asked in disbelief, "Wenjun, you actually shot a deer?"

Su Wenjun panted slightly, a faint blush on his face. He shook his head gently, carefully placed the prey on his shoulder on the ground, and explained: "No, this was caught by Uncle Hu. Uncle Hu is really amazing!

But Uncle Hu said that neither he nor Master Lu could cook, so he gave the deer to me to handle. Uncle Hu also told me to send them a portion once it was ready.
