Chapter 40 Red Dates

He followed her all the way without saying a word, just staring at Su Wenxuan's back. His eyes looked as if he wanted to stare two holes in Su Wenxuan's back.

As Su Wenxuan walked, she felt as if a pair of eyes were staring at her from behind. She couldn't help feeling uneasy, and an indescribable strange feeling came over her.

She couldn't help but stop and turned around suddenly. When she turned around, she saw the greedy little cat Su Mingfan following behind her. Looking at his appearance, Su Wenxuan instantly understood what was going on.

However, she didn't intend to point it out. She just smiled slightly, pretending to be ignorant, and said softly: "Mingfan, what are you doing? Are you here to help your aunt light the fire?"

"Yes, I'll help my aunt light the fire." Su Mingfan responded loudly as soon as he heard it, a bright smile on his face, and then he ran to the stove and squatted down.

He first picked out a piece of firewood of appropriate thickness from the pile of firewood next to him, held it tightly with both hands, and stuffed it into the stove with force. His movements were quite professional.

After stuffing the firewood into the pot, he held his chin with both hands, staring at the pot without blinking, without saying a word, hoping that something delicious would come out of the pot soon.

Seeing Su Wenxuan about to put the red dates in her hand into the pot, Su Mingfan finally seemed to be unable to suppress his curiosity. He pretended to be particularly interested, blinked his big eyes, and asked in a baby voice: "Auntie, what is this red thing? Is it delicious?"

"This is called red dates. It's so sweet and delicious!" Su Wenxuan replied with a smile. Looking at Su Mingfan's greedy look, she felt that he was so cute.

The air was filled with a rich aroma of dates, and the sweet scent was like an invisible hand, gently plucking Su Mingfan's heartstrings.

Su Mingfan sniffed hard, and the tempting fragrance went straight into his nose, instantly making his saliva overflow uncontrollably in his mouth and flow down along the corners of his mouth.

He couldn't help it any longer, and hurried over to Su Wenxuan, grabbed the corner of her clothes, tilted his little face up, looked at her eagerly, and said in a baby voice, "Aunt, can you give Mingfan a red date to try?"

As he spoke, he did not forget to use his sleeve to wipe the saliva that had been flowing for a long time, but it seemed that the saliva could not be wiped away. Just as he wiped some off, it flowed out again.

His big eyes were full of anticipation and desire for red dates, and he hoped that Su Wenxuan would nod and agree to him immediately.

Su Wenxuan found his greedy look so funny and cute that she couldn't help but chuckle. Then she deliberately lowered her voice, leaned close to Su Mingfan's ear, and whispered, "Okay, give us two, Mingfan. But don't tell anyone else. This is our little secret."

When Su Mingfan heard that he could get two red dates, he was so happy that he was about to speak loudly, but suddenly remembered that his aunt had told him not to tell anyone else. He opened his little mouth, then quickly closed it, and then nodded continuously, his little head nodding like a chicken pecking at rice, for fear that his aunt would think he didn't remember.

Looking at his cute appearance, Su Wenxuan felt that the child was more and more likable.

She smiled and reached out to carefully pick out two large and plump dates from the pile of red dates. She handed them to Su Mingfan and said gently, "Okay, take them and go play."

Su Mingfan took the red dates and held them carefully in his hands.

He first put the red dates under his nose and sniffed them hard. The sweet smell made his eyes squint. Then he slowly put a red date into his mouth and took a light bite.

In an instant, the unique sweet taste of red dates spread in his mouth. The taste was so wonderful!

Su Mingfan's eyes suddenly widened, his face full of surprise, and he mumbled incoherently: "Wow, these red dates are sweet, just as sweet as the candies grandma gave him!"

He was reluctant to finish both red dates at once, so he carefully put the other red date into his pocket and patted his pocket gently, as if to comfort the red date, muttering: "Red date, red date, you must stay here obediently."

After he finished, he remembered to thank his aunt. He quickly raised his head and said to Su Wenxuan with gratitude: "Aunt, the red dates are really delicious. Thank you."

After expressing his gratitude, Su Mingfan turned around and left, skipping like a happy little rabbit.

Su Wenxuan stood there, watching his back as he skipped further and further away with a doting look on her face. She shook her head gently and raised her voice, "Mingfan, don't run too far. It's time to eat!"

"I understand, aunt!" Su Mingfan's clear and loud response came from a distance, and the voice was full of happiness.

After a busy time, tonight's sweet potato feast was finally devoured by everyone.

Su Wenxuan quickly cleared the dishes and turned around to come out with a big pot of steaming red date soup.

The aroma of the sugar water drifted with the hot air, instantly filling the entire camp, and the sweet smell went straight into people's noses.

Yao Qingshuang greeted everyone with a smile: "Come on, everyone, you must be exhausted after running around for half a month. Let's drink some red date syrup to replenish our qi and blood."

As she spoke, she took the bowl beside her and prepared to scoop sugar water for everyone.

But when Su Wenjun heard about the red date syrup, he immediately frowned. Like a willful child, he waved his fist and shouted, "Mom, my energy and blood are sufficient. I won't drink this woman's stuff. It makes me feel weak all over!"

The tone was full of disgust, as if the red date syrup was a bitter medicine that was difficult to swallow.

Zhou Shitou, who was standing by, also echoed, "Mom, I don't like sweet things. You guys drink, I won't join in the fun for now."

He scratched his head with a somewhat innocent smile on his face.

Yao Qingshuang couldn't help but roll her eyes inwardly, secretly complaining, "Humph, if you don't want to drink it, then don't drink it. Who cares about you! This red date soup was originally prepared mainly for us girls. You just got a share of it, and you're still being picky!"

However, she didn't say much, and just replied unhappily, "I know."

Seeing Yao Qingshuang agreed, Su Wenjun secretly winked at Zhou Shitou. There was a tacit understanding in his eyes, as if to say, "Hey, let's leave quickly, so we don't have to be nagged here for drinking this sugar water."
