Chapter 405 The Students' Journey

Chapter 405 The Students' Journey

Yuan Hongqu had just finished eating and went to the side of the boat to get some fresh air, but she decided against going to the stern.

Daiyu is fine, but the other students might feel a bit uncomfortable and restrained while playing.

Although Yuan Hongqu really didn't want to be the one making them feel uncomfortable, whenever she appeared, the students would noticeably become more reserved and less relaxed than before.

After all, throughout history, very few students have been able to maintain their original playfulness in front of the "principal."

Yuan Hongqu didn't want to be the one to spoil the fun.

A gentle breeze rippled across the water, sweeping away the daytime heat and dispelling the slight stuffiness that had been lingering in Yuan Hongqu's heart.

A kingfisher swooped across the water and landed on Yuan Hongqu's arm in a flash.

Yuan Hongqu raised her arm. The kingfisher was very small, no bigger than an egg when it folded its wings.

Isn't this kind of bird supposed to be most afraid of people? How come it flew onto me?

As she was wondering, she suddenly felt as if the monk and the Taoist priest had appeared before her. The Taoist priest said...

"The curse on the Tenth Prince has been lifted. We are going to the Rongguo Mansion in the capital to find the reincarnation of Shenying Attendant and discuss the matter of repaying the debt of tears."

After the monk and the Taoist finished speaking, the illusion vanished, and even the kingfisher turned into mist.

Yuan Hongqu didn't take this to heart at all. They even came to tell her. Were they showing off their superior magic?

The afterglow of the setting sun spread across the water, turning it golden. At first glance, the water looked as if it were covered with a layer of gold, which was very dazzling.

"Sir, sir..." A group of students carrying paintings walked over from the stern of the boat. Daiyu, who was leading the group, saw Yuan Hongqu gazing at the water in deep thought by the side of the boat and couldn't help but wave and call out excitedly.

Yuan Hongqu smiled gently.

"What painting did you draw? Let me see it too."

Upon hearing this, the girls behind him looked somewhat embarrassed, and some even tried to hide the paintings they were holding behind their backs.

It's just like a student who didn't do their homework and was then randomly checked by the teacher.

They were in an even worse situation; the principal would have to check their homework.

"Sir, you'd better not look at it. The sunset only lasts for a short while, there's no time to paint it. We'll show it to you after we get back and finish the finishing touches."

Daiyu, on the other hand, was quite frank, well, quite frankly led the way in lying.

Yuan Hongqu knew there was something fishy about those words, but she didn't press the matter.

"Go back and wash your faces quickly, you've gotten paint all over them."

The girls had a lot of paint on their faces and clothes, making them look quite disheveled, but they were full of energy.

"Yinduo, get a few bars of mutton fat facial soap for everyone. This pigment is probably hard to wash off. If it settles on your face, it can take several days to disappear."

Yuan Hongqu turned around and gave instructions to Yin Duo.

The group of girls, who had been exchanging knowing glances and giggling after Yuan Hongqu turned away, fell silent upon hearing this. As soon as Yuan Hongqu walked away, they immediately surrounded Yin Duo.

"Good silver, isn't it very effective? I just got a purple stain on me, and it would have looked awful if I couldn't wash it off."

"Yinduo, Yinduo, can you take a look? Is it deep here? Will it be impossible to wash off...?"

"We'll be arriving in Jiangnan in a few days. We're representing female students from the capital. If the women from Jiangnan see female students from the capital looking like this, they'll probably laugh their teeth out."

"Sigh, it's all because I got a little carried away playing earlier. Who started it?"

"But the paintings we make with our hands are also very interesting!"

"Look how calm Daiyu is, she'll definitely be able to wash it off, so don't worry!" Finally, a girl saw that Daiyu wasn't anxious at all.

Daiyu herself had a patch of pale yellow smeared on her face, but her clothes were covered in various paint spots.

The lighter color of her dress made the paint stains more noticeable.

However, the otherwise subdued outfit became quite lively after being adorned with these paints.

Hearing her classmates' concerns, Daiyu chuckled softly.

"Don't worry, the teacher is just teasing us. The paints we use are made from flowers, plants, and trees. We use very little mineral paint. When we have painting class, if these paints get on our hands, we can just wash them off with lanolin soap. The teacher gave us cleansing soap because she saw our little tricks and knew we were being naughty. She's just afraid we won't be able to wash them off and will end up with a face full of graffiti."

The group then recalled Mr. Yuan's expression earlier, and it seemed that he was mostly joking, so they were all relieved.

“Daiyu, let’s change our clothes in a bit and go to study together. Let’s each write a couple more large characters. The teacher didn’t say anything, but since we understand it, we can’t take it as wrong.”

One of the oldest female students said.

"No need, right? We're not in the academy, and the teacher isn't that strict," a girl who didn't want to write muttered.

Two pages of large characters, it will take a long time to write!

I used to write two pages every day, but now I have to write more, which I really don't want to do.

"Whatever you want, I'm going to write it anyway, since I went a bit too far today."

After discussing it, the group unanimously looked at Daiyu.

"Sister Yu'er, do you think the master will punish us again?"

"I'm not a teacher, how would I know?" Daiyu smiled slyly.

“But you and your husband have always been close, haven’t you? You’re still living with him now. If you talk to him, you can save two large bills, and then we’ll have more time to do other things.”

"I don't have much to do in the evening, so it's nice to write a couple more pages."

"But we were planning to play checkers with you, a six-player game."

Daiyu's eyes lit up, and she immediately nodded.

"The teacher won't punish us. When have you ever seen her punish a student?"

"It seems that's really the case."

"The mutton fat soap has been delivered to everyone's rooms. Why don't you all hurry back and wash up?" Yin Duo stepped forward and reminded them.

The group then scattered in all directions.

"Where should we play checkers later?" Daiyu called out.

“Let’s go to the hall; that’s the only place big enough,” said the student who was lagging behind.

Daiyu then returned to her room. She glanced around and didn't see Yuan Hongqu, but she didn't ask any further questions.

Zijuan and Xueyan came over to help her wash and change her clothes. Just as they were about to take the clothes out to wash, Daiyu stopped them.

"Zijuan, is there any way to keep this paint on the clothes?"

The colors on the clothes were quite interesting, and even though Daiyu would never wear them again, she couldn't bear to wash off the paint.

"Young lady, this isn't dye for clothes. Even if you don't wash it, the color will fade before long."

Daiyu thought for a moment and said,

"You can leave it there. I'll ask Granny later; she'll definitely have a good idea. By the way, did Granny just come back?"

“Miss, Mr. Yuan was called away again before he could come over.”
