Chapter 5 Yuan Hongqu's Urgent Matters
Yuan Hongqu discovered that the crops produced in the space were of much better quality than those grown in ordinary fields.
Due to her own circumstances, she had to dispose of all the chickens, ducks, geese, and a pond of aquatic products she raised in the garden before the Lunar New Year.
After settling down at the Lin family's house, she tried bringing living creatures into the space, but found that they were all in a drowsy state, so she stopped trying.
However, on her way from Yangzhou, she fished on the boat in her spare time and surprisingly caught quite a lot.
Later, they all got tired of eating it. When Yuan Hongqu caught fish again, she would throw some of them into the sink in the kitchen, intending to process them and put them away at night.
When she went to her space to process the catch, she found that the fish in the tank were swimming happily.
On a sudden impulse, she scooped up the fish again and threw it into the pond in the garden, where the fish swam even more happily.
Yuan Hongqu thought to herself: Could this space really be upgraded? And I haven't done anything?
The biggest change is the map; it's moved from Yangzhou to the capital. So, is the map change the key element for spatial upgrades?
Along the way, whenever Yuan Hongqu had the chance, she would throw living creatures into her spatial dimension.
Now, besides the garden of fruits, vegetables, and grains, the space also contains a pond of fish and shrimp, twelve chickens, four mandarin ducks, six wild ducks, two geese, and two dogs...
Led by the geese, they all behaved themselves and did not haphazardly damage the crops in the space.
While the daily egg production isn't an incredible two eggs a day, the quality is absolutely top-notch.
I don't know if it's because of the land, or because of the blessing of the gods, but the crops produced in this space not only taste good, but also have more significant medicinal and edible properties.
For example, rock sugar pear and white fungus soup made with pears produced in the space is much more effective at relieving coughs and soothing the throat than soup made with ordinary pears!
The eggs produced in this space are all a size larger than regular eggs.
Simple boiled eggs have a fragrant aroma in the egg white and a delicate, soft yolk that won't make you choke.
Even though Daiyu didn't like eggs before, she happily ate two boiled eggs after seeing them made into cute bunny or goldfish shapes by Granny Yuan...
In order to ensure that Daiyu could continue to consume the crops produced in her space, Yuan Hongqu picked a batch of relatively durable space crops in advance before coming to Rongguo Mansion and brought them to the capital by ship.
But those things will eventually run out.
Although she could prepare the food in her space and then bring it out for Daiyu to eat.
But this is not a long-term solution.
When she was at the Lin family's residence, Yuan Hongqu would occasionally go out, pretending to buy groceries, but in reality, she would use crops from her spatial storage instead. This might not be as easy to do at the Rongguo Mansion.
Yuan Hongqu was unwilling to turn Daiyu, who had just grown from a small green bean sprout into a small yellow bean sprout, back into a small green bean sprout!
These days on the ship, with so many eyes watching her, it's not very convenient for Yuan Hongqu to do anything.
That batch of ingredients was almost used up, and even if there were still some left, Yuan Hongqu felt they weren't very fresh and didn't want to give them to Daiyu anymore.
Therefore, on her first night at the Rongguo Mansion, taking advantage of the fact that Daiyu and Xueyan would be sound asleep due to their fatigue from the day, Yuan Hongqu simply entered her spatial dimension.
She was busy in the space, first going to the strawberry field to pick a basket of strawberries.
She planned to make a strawberry-flavored pastry for Daiyu. However, since they were in the Rongguo Mansion, they had to be careful. Since strawberries couldn't be served, she decided to make some strawberry jam instead.
Yuan Hongqu looked at the corn whose husks had already been split open, and a thought struck her.
Although this stuff is rough, it's still good for children's health if they eat some occasionally.
Yuan Hongqu then picked two more ears of corn, and then picked two small pumpkins the size of a palm.
She carried a few things into the kitchen of the small building.
The small building inside the space now has normal access to water, electricity, and gas.
Yuan Hongqu also went to the back of the small building to check the water and electricity meters, but no matter how she used them, they wouldn't turn.
Occasionally, Yuan Hongqu would think: She's gotten a good deal. If she can go back in the future, no one should come to check on her and make her pay the outstanding water, electricity, and gas bills, right?
However, Lin Ruhai's salary was really good, especially since she came to Rongguo Mansion with Daiyu. He even gave her three years' worth of salary in advance, and double it.
She can afford to pay the water, electricity, and gas bills!
......
Most children are sleepy, except for Daiyu.
She was raised as a boy from a young age. From the time she learned to read, she had to get up early every day to read and practice writing. Unless she was too sick to get out of bed, she never missed a day.
However, this habit was changed after Yuan Hongqu became Daiyu's governess.
What kind of parents would make their first-grade daughter get up at 5 a.m. to write a page of large characters and then memorize an article?
This is child abuse!
Lord Lin Ruhai, are you really Lin Daiyu's biological father? How can you be so inhumane!
This is your own daughter. She was already in poor health and was constantly plagued by illnesses.
Doesn't Lord Lin know that the best way to maintain health is through sleep?
As the saying goes, good food, good sleep, and good health!
In other words, sleeping and eating are equally important.
Lin Ruhai was bombarded with a barrage of words from Yuan Hongqu. He remembered that his wife had always had trouble sleeping, especially in the months before her death, when she barely slept, only getting an hour or two a day in total.
He felt that what Yuan Hongqu said made a lot of sense, and that nothing was more important than his daughter's health than reading and writing.
From then on, Daiyu no longer needed to get up early to study and could sleep until she naturally woke up every day.
A few days later, her complexion had improved significantly.
Now that they've arrived at the Rongguo Mansion, their accommodations aren't very convenient, so Daiyu can no longer sleep in until she naturally wakes up.
In the morning, there was movement in Jia Baoyu's room, which was in the outer room, and Daiyu also struggled to open her eyes.
When Daiyu saw that there was only Xueyan in the green gauze wardrobe and not Yuan Hongqu, she couldn't help but mutter:
"Xueyan, where is Granny Yuan? I want Granny Yuan back."
“My dear girl, Granny Yuan borrowed the small kitchen from Second Madam Lian yesterday and went there to work before dawn.”
Xueyan helped Daiyu up, and once again sighed in her heart:
How can her daughter be so beautiful!
Although she had just woken up, her hair was a little disheveled, and her eyes were still a bit drowsy, her adorable appearance and the fact that she already showed signs of becoming a stunning beauty at such a young age made one want to offer her all the most beautiful things in the world, just to make her smile.
As Xueyan swiftly dressed and washed Daiyu, she said:
"Granny Yuan said that we should make something in private so as not to interfere with the normal use of their small kitchen."
Upon hearing this, Daiyu's eyes lit up:
"I wonder what delicious food Granny will make for me. I didn't dream about anything last night!"
Upon hearing this, Xueyan giggled.
"Who could be as lucky as this girl, whose dreams come true every day? It's a pity that all she dreams about is food."
The fact that Daiyu had a dream was not kept secret; Lin Ruhai and the people who served Daiyu in the Lin family all knew about it.
Everyone treated it as a joke, teasing Daiyu and Yuan Hongqu about it, and they didn't get angry.
Yuan Hongqu thought that since many people were talking about it and she didn't take it seriously, naturally no one would care or pay special attention.
Daiyu, being a child at heart, found it amusing that her dream was just like the food she ate in reality, and couldn't help but boast about it.
The servants talked about it a lot, and they also saw that the young lady and Granny Yuan had a good relationship, just like a mother and daughter.
Then it was rumored that the two might have been mother and daughter in a previous life, which is why they have such a connection in this life.
That's why whatever the girl dreams about, Granny Yuan will make it up the next day!
It has to be said, their imaginations are incredibly rich; they can make up things that Yuan Hongqu herself wouldn't even dare to imagine...
Xueyan finished dressing Daiyu, but Yuan Hongqu had not yet appeared, and Daiyu became a little anxious.
"Xueyan, go quickly and see if Granny is lost. This Rongguo Mansion is so big, what if Granny gets lost?"
Daiyu was young, but she had a lot on her mind.
“Miss, don’t worry. Granny is an adult, she won’t get lost. I heard that the main kitchen in this mansion is a bit out of the way, so it’s probably because the journey is too far that Granny is late.”
