Chapter 235: Terrifying Night on the Train

Shen Junyan asked, "What is your dream?"

Huang Wanzhen picked up a piece of butter date cake, took a big bite, and said incoherently, "My dream is so great, none of you can compare to it."

Shen Junyan didn't believe it. "Yanzhi and I's dream is to relieve patients' suffering through medicine."

Huang Wanzhen seemed to have not eaten. She took another big bite of the date cake and looked at Shen Junyan with her head half tilted up. "Everyone is equal, there is no class distinction, and we want to achieve happiness and a pleasant life for the Chinese people. Is this comparable to your greatness?"

Shen Junyan curled his lips, "So weak."

Huang Wanzhen smiled and pushed Shen Junyan.

"Ouch, you bumped into me." Huang Wanzhen saw that her push had caused Shen Junyan to bump into Gao Caixue, and she quickly apologized, "Sorry, Professor Gao."

Shen Junyan stood up, turned around, and apologized, "I'm sorry, Caixue."

Gao Caixue ignored him and looked at Huang Wanzhen. "Ms. Huang's dream will come true one day. Let us work together."

After saying this, he sighed, "Some workers and students who originally supported the revolutionary army are still imprisoned. I've visited quite a few of them recently, and the new government actually says they're disrupting public order and won't release them until they pay a fine. It's truly chilling."

Shen Junyan advised him, "How can you save so many people by yourself? You should organize a donation to the school."

Huang Wanzhen is no stranger to donations. Since she started school, the school has organized several donations every year, some for refugees and some for relief centers. In this era, there are too many things that require donations.

Perhaps Shen Junyan's proposal worked. A few days later, the school organized a donation. Huang Wanzhen followed the crowd and donated five dollars. She thought this matter had nothing to do with her.

After the final exams, Huang Wanzhen decided to take advantage of the summer vacation to go to Shanghai. On the one hand, she wanted to accompany Song Wenyin and help her gain a foothold in Jixiangtang. On the other hand, Huang Dongshi had expressed her dissatisfaction many times, and Huang Wanzhen had to go back to see her.

Song Wenyin will be staying in Shanghai this time, so she has a lot of luggage. Not only are her two bodyguards covered with it, but even the maids and servants have a lot of it too.

Huang Wanzhen was dumbfounded and asked, "Why don't you check it in?"

Song Wenyin waved her lace-gloved hands in the air twice and said, "Yes, these are not suitable for checked baggage."

Huang Wanzhen silently took her suitcase from Huang Dachui. Without any instructions, Huang Dachui stepped forward and took the two suitcases from the two bodyguards.

"Let's go, get on the bus first."

Mrs. Song arranged soft sleeper cars for everyone. Huang Wanzhen and Song Wenyin shared one compartment. The compartment had a door that could be opened and closed. Huang Dachui and the bodyguards were in the front compartment, and the maids and servants were in the back compartment. Normally, this configuration would not go wrong, but just as the train whistle sounded, two men rushed in. Huang Wanzhen pulled Song Wenyin behind her and quickly drew a gun from her waist.

"Ms. Huang, it's me!" Gao Caixue was sweating profusely and his voice was hoarse. If Huang Wanzhen hadn't looked carefully, she would have had no idea who he was.

Gao Caixue immediately took off his wig, revealing his square face, "Ms. Huang, save us."

Huang Wanzhen's face was full of sternness as she pointed her gun at the man who had fainted on the ground. "Who is he?"

Gao Caixue hurriedly said, "Professor Li from the Department of Sociology at Peking University, someone wants to kill him, please save him."

At this time, Huang Wanzhen had already heard the noise outside the carriage. Without bothering to ask for details, Huang Wanzhen handed the gun to Song Wenyin behind her and quickly climbed onto the upper bunk. "Give it to me."

By the time Huang Wanzhen hid Professor Li behind the luggage on the upper bunk, the sounds of an argument between the bodyguards and others could be heard outside.

Song Wenyin tugged at Huang Wanzhen's sleeve and asked in a low voice, "Do you know her?"

Huang Wanzhen tilted her head and whispered in her ear, "Professor Gao from the Department of Literature at Yenching University."

Song Wenyin raised an eyebrow, "Save?"

Huang Wanzhen nodded slightly, "Save."

Song Wenyin held the gun, glared at Gao Caixue, walked past him, pushed open the door, and walked out. After a while, she shouted, "You are so bold that you even dare to check my bodyguard's car. It's full of my valuables. If you break them, can you afford it?"

Huang Wanzhen gave Gao Caixue a look and walked out as well. "Who are you?"

The first man, wearing a black Mao suit, said bluntly, "We are from the Special Branch of the Military Police Headquarters. We suspect you are harboring a fugitive."

Song Wenyin smiled coldly, "Is the Military Police Headquarters' Secret Service Department so great? My father is from the Peking Security Bureau! My father's name is Song Yongsheng, and my name is Song Wenyin."

Behind the man in black, a man in a gray coat came forward and whispered something in his ear. The man in black gave Song Wenyin and Huang Wanzhen a deep look and said, "So it's Miss Song. Nice to meet you. We are arresting two fugitives. If you see any suspects, please send someone to carriage 7 and let them know. I will be very grateful."

Song Wenyin ignored her, rolled her eyes, turned around and pulled Huang Wanzhen back to the private room. The loud sound of the door closing seemed to slap the man in black in the face, making his eyes suddenly become gloomy.

After the noise outside died down, Huang Wanzhen waited for another quarter of an hour before quietly asking Gao Caixue, "Where are you getting off?"

Gao Caixue shook his head.

Huang Wanzhen frowned, "What do you mean? You won't get off the car?"

Gao Caixue explained hoarsely, "They're watching us closely right now, so we can't get out of the car for now. Let's wait until three in the morning and then jump out the window."

Huang Wanzhen looked out the window and asked, "Do you want to wrap yourself in a blanket?"

Gao Caixue shook his head, "Don't move the things here. If they are found, it will cause trouble for you."

Song Wenyin finally couldn't help it, "You also know that this will cause us trouble? There are so many carriages, why did you go to our carriage?!"

Gao Caixue lowered his head in shame and said, "I'm sorry."

Song Wenyin curled her lips and said, "Don't do such things that will let others down in the future!"

Gao Caixue lowered his head a little more.

It was the first time that Huang Wanzhen saw a student scolding a university professor like a grandson, but she did not speak up for Gao Caixue. This time, she was lucky to have Song Wenyin there, otherwise she would have been in real danger.

However, Huang Wanzhen still respected this professor who had helped her out many times. She not only prepared food and drinking water for him, but also let him rest early at night.

"You're carrying someone. If you don't sleep, I'm afraid you won't be able to bear it. Go to sleep. I'll keep watch for you. I'll call you at 2:45 in the morning."

Huang Wanzhen turned on the lights in the car and read until ten o'clock, then turned off the lights and closed her eyes to rest.

After a while, Huang Wanzhen covered herself with the quilt, secretly turned on the flashlight, and looked at her pocket watch. After not knowing how many times she had peeked at it, it was finally 2:40 in the morning.
