"Hold my arm and let's go in." Zheng Yusang's voice brought Huang Wanzhen back to her senses. She quickly lowered her eyebrows and reached out to hold Zheng Yusang's arm.
Huang Wanzhen thought to herself that she must remain calm in her next performance and not let the sign of "lack of knowledge" be written all over her face like she did just now.
The two of them walked into the hall. Zheng Yusang was shocked by the high ceiling. Huang Wanzhen had already calmed down. Seeing him stunned, she did not urge him. Instead, she looked up and admired the giant crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
"Sir, Madam, how can I help you?" A waiter in a long white coat came over.
"Take us to the Western restaurant." Huang Wanzhen said softly, and Zheng Yusang glanced at her unhappily.
Huang Wanzhen retracted her arm and adjusted her cuffs. "What? Am I wrong?"
Zheng Yusang turned back to look at the waiter and repeated, "Take us to the Western restaurant."
Huang Wanzhen secretly complained in her heart, isn't this kid too petty?
The waiter led the two to the Western restaurant, where Zhu Tingzhou was already waiting.
Upon seeing the two of them, Zhu Tingzhou greeted Huang Wanzhen first. Huang Wanzhen nodded and replied, "Good afternoon."
After the greetings, there was a brief silence. Zhu Tingzhou took the initiative to pull out a chair and said, "Sister-in-law, please sit down."
Although Huang Wanzhen felt that his behavior was inappropriate, Zheng Yusang did not move like a fool. Huang Wanzhen did not expect Zheng Yusang to pull the chair for her, so she sat down directly and turned her head to thank Zhu Tingzhou.
"Yusang, let's sit down too." Zhu Tingzhou didn't understand why Zheng Yusang stood there motionless, so in order to avoid being rude, he suggested with a smile.
Zheng Yusang pulled up the corners of his mouth, revealing an uneasy smile, "Okay, sit down."
"Tingzhou, take a look at what you want to eat. I'll treat you today." After Zheng Yusang sat down and saw the menu, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"The steak here is delicious. I have to order one." Zhu Tingzhou smiled and asked the waiter for a medium-rare steak. He turned around and recommended it to Huang Wanzhen, "Sister-in-law, why don't you try it too? Their filet mignon here is very famous."
Huang Wanzhen nodded and ordered a medium-rare steak from the waiter. She then ordered cheese, toast, and coffee.
Zheng Yusang glanced at the price and secretly glared at Huang Wanzhen. Huang Wanzhen pretended not to notice and turned to talk to Zhu Tingzhou, "Aren't you going to order a drink?"
Zhu Tingzhou said, "Oh!" and said, "I almost forgot. Please give me another glass of wine."
"Would you like a glass, sister-in-law? The wine here is all shipped from France."
Huang Wanzhen waved her hand, "No, thank you, I don't drink."
Zhu Tingzhou smiled and said, "It's good to try it occasionally."
"I think my sister-in-law's suit is really beautiful. It's even better than the suits sold by that foreign company."
"By the way, look at the suit I'm wearing. Does it look familiar?"
Huang Wanzhen had already noticed that the suit Zhu Tingzhou was wearing today was made by her. "Hmm, it looks familiar. I made it, how could it not look familiar?!"
Zhu Tingzhou smiled good-naturedly, "Last time you hosted a dinner, I wanted to talk to you about this suit, but I never got the chance."
"To be honest, my father was one of the first group of students to study abroad, and he loves wearing suits. We younger generations have also picked up his habit and have been wearing suits since we were young. This suit is tall and well-fitting, and the details are also well-made. I would like to hire you as a tailor for the suit shop. What do you think?"
Huang Wanzhen smiled without saying anything, thinking that he was daydreaming and that she was crazy to work as a tailor in his shop.
"Oh, sister-in-law, don't misunderstand. Although I'm a tailor, your salary will not be less. How about one hundred dollars a month?" Zhu Tingzhou said confidently.
Huang Wanzhen smiled and shook her head, "Besides my busy studies, I also have to contribute to the Xinmin Daily. I really don't have the time."
"Oh? My sister-in-law is contributing articles to the Xinmin Daily? I haven't heard Yusang mention it." Zhu Tingzhou finally remembered that the classmate from the other side was coming.
But Zheng Yusang was destined to disappoint Zhu Tingzhou. Zhu Tingzhou did not get any useful feedback from Zheng Yusang, but only saw a confused face.
"You contribute to the Xinmin Daily? How come I didn't know that? Are you bragging?"
Huang Wanzhen lowered her upturned lips, resisted the urge to roll her eyes, and said to Zhu Tingzhou, "I'm sorry, I really don't have time. Please find someone else."
Huang Wanzhen's coffee arrived just in time, and Zhu Tingzhou quickly stood up and helped her take it off the tray. "It's nothing. From the suit you're wearing today, I can see that you're different. You're talented, even better than some of my female classmates in college. I admire you very much."
"Sir, your wine."
Zhu Tingzhou was not angry at the interruption. He smiled and tapped twice on the table near him. The waiter placed a wine glass where his finger pointed.
"I'm very curious, who is my sister-in-law's master?" Zhu Tingzhou asked Huang Wanzhen with a smile, his hands crossed on the table.
"Oh! I know this. She studied under Miss Shen from Daji Lane, Mule and Horse Street." Zheng Yusang spoke hurriedly when he saw that he had finally mentioned something he knew.
Huang Wanzhen did not refuse Zheng Yusang's face, and nodded with a smile, "Yes, Shen Junru, the second daughter of the Shen family, is my teacher."
A hint of amusement flashed across Zhu Tingzhou's eyes. "Oh? It's the Shen family with three branches? No wonder..."
After the steak came, Zhu Tingzhou stopped talking about the suit and switched to food topics, such as how to fry the steak and how well done it should be. Huang Wanzhen also had something to say, and for a moment the atmosphere at the table was very harmonious.
When I said goodbye to Zhu Tingzhou, it was already getting dark.
On the way back to Zheng's house, Zheng Yusang suddenly became interested in Huang Wanzhen's daily life and kept asking her questions.
"Are you really contributing to the Xinmin Daily? Why haven't I heard you mention this before? What kind of articles are you writing about? I'll buy a copy next time to check it out."
Huang Wanzhen didn't want to pay any attention to him. It was already dark. Who knew what she said would upset the young master and he would complain to Zheng Liushi later. If Zheng Liushi punished her for her precious son, how could she sleep well at night?
"Honestly, one hundred dollars a month is a lot. If you want to go, I can help you with my mother."
Huang Wanzhen was afraid that he would really talk too much in front of Zheng Liushi, so she couldn't help but speak, "No, thank you."
Amid Zheng Yusang's noisy voice, the two returned to the Zheng Mansion.
Since they were having dinner outside, Zheng Yusang took Huang Wanzhen to the front hall to report in, under the pretext of saying goodnight.
Zheng Ruqing was fine, but Zheng Liushi asked Huang Wanzhen, "Didn't you embarrass Brother Sang?"
