Chapter 89 Sarcastic and Uncomfortable
The two went straight to the inpatient department's administrative desk, gave Nan Ke's name, and asked for her room number.
The nurse glanced at the figure from behind and muttered, "He looks kind of familiar."
Just as I was about to take a closer look, the two of them had already disappeared from sight.
Tu Chaoxi and Tu Yao went straight to the top floor. Just as they were about to go over, they heard a commotion in the next ward.
"We're supposed to forgive you just because you went to the wrong backstage area, delivered the wrong item, or bumped into someone by mistake?"
“My child was personally selected by Mr. Cormier as a guest performer. If he affects next month’s concert, can you afford the consequences?”
Soon, the two men in suits were ushered out.
The two men were managers of a company that was in charge of stage installation. There was a small hall in the concert hall where Nan Ke was, and a play was going to be performed this week. They were in charge of the backstage setup. However, when they delivered the equipment to the backstage of the main hall, they accidentally bumped into someone and injured them.
All four guest performers sustained injuries of varying degrees.
The two cursed under their breath for being ungrateful, and went to the next ward, where, unsurprisingly, they were kicked out again.
They went to several hospital wards in a row, but failed to reach a settlement.
Finally, they entered Nan Ke's hospital room.
Tu Chaoxi and Tu Yao exchanged a glance and roughly understood the ins and outs of the accident.
Over the course of two hours, the progress bar rose at a slow pace.
Tu Yao breathed a sigh of relief... so this was an accident.
Just as the two were about to push the door open and enter, the man's voice, apologizing from earlier, came from inside the ward.
"Sir, I am so sorry, this was our mistake."
Nan Ke lay half-reclined on the hospital bed, his face pale, his calves bandaged tightly, as if he had just woken up, holding a broken cell phone in his hand and trying to turn it on.
They paid no attention to the two strangers who had barged in.
Unlike the other patients in the ward who had family members to care for them, Nan Ke lay alone in the empty ward, looking somewhat lonely.
Having likely experienced so many failed mediations, and seeing that the family members were not present, the two managers became increasingly impatient and unrestrained.
“We’ve reviewed your medical records. Your injuries aren’t serious. The most serious issue is your low blood sugar. We’ll cover your medical expenses, and you can sign a settlement agreement, okay? We didn’t do it on purpose.”
"Besides, there was no security or warning signs at the entrance of your concert, and there were so many people backstage. How were we supposed to know what kind of concert was going to be held here? You can't blame us."
Outside the ward, Tu Chaoxi's face had darkened. Tu Yao reached into her pocket, pulled out two masks, and handed them to him.
He said seriously, "Brother, put it on."
Otherwise, if rumors spread that Tu Chaoxi assaulted someone in the hospital room, all that work will have been for nothing.
Seeing that Nan Ke was ignoring them, the two became even more impatient.
"Will you sign or not? If you don't, don't blame us for being impolite! Our patience is limited, so don't..."
Before he could finish speaking, the ward door suddenly burst open with a bang!
Tu Chaoxi and Tu Yao stood at the door, both wearing masks.
Nan Ke looked over upon hearing the sound, and was momentarily dazed.
The next second, Tu Chaoxi rushed over aggressively, ready to punch someone: "What did you just say?! Say it again! Who are you going to be rude to?!"
"I'll be rude to you first!"
The two middle-aged men were so frightened that they backed away, shouting, "Who...who are you! What do you want? What right do you have to hit people!"
"So what if I beat you up? I'll beat you until you're crippled, or I'll change my surname to yours!"
"Hitting someone is illegal!"
Tu Yao, hands on her hips, declared: "My brother is mentally ill, and it's not illegal for mentally ill people to hit others!"
"I'm mentally ill too, it's not illegal for me to hit people!"
The two men turned pale with fright: "You! You guys! Don't be so unreasonable! He only looks seriously injured; he was just cut a few times by shards!"
Tu Chaoxi laughed in exasperation: "If it's not serious, why is it wrapped up like this?"
Tu Yao grabbed something from next to the cabinet, saying, "Then I'll scratch it for you too!"
After saying that, he rushed over!
The two were so frightened that they quickly dodged and hid, and hurriedly ran towards the door!
The person in the hospital bed looks gentle and kind, but the two family members are like evil dragons, with deadly destructive power!
The ward quickly returned to quiet.
Tu Chaoxi flung off her mask, slammed the door shut, and walked to the bedside. "What happened?"
Tu Yao threw down the medicine box she had grabbed at random and ran over to see him.
Nan Ke stared blankly at the two people in front of her, a sudden lump forming in her throat: "...Why are you here?"
He quickly explained, "I just woke up, and my phone is broken. I was trying to call you."
"...Those two people were right, my foot was only cut by the shards."
If you hadn't dodged it, the impact of a mirror weighing dozens of kilograms falling on you would have been unimaginable.
Tu Yao frowned: "So the low blood sugar part isn't wrong either."
When did you start experiencing low blood sugar?
Two worried faces suddenly leaned closer, and Nan Ke was momentarily speechless.
Before he could speak, the ward door was knocked on again.
Nan Ke was taken aback: "Mr. Cormier?"
Tu Yao turned around and saw that the person who had come was none other than Cormier.
With his signature beard and blond hair and blue eyes, he frowned and walked straight toward Nan Ke, speaking in a deep London accent: "How is it? Is it serious?"
"Sorry, I should have had them put up signs in the back so they wouldn't accidentally wander in."
Upon glancing at Tu Yao beside him, his face lit up with surprise, and he switched to fluent Mandarin.
"Little mascot, you're here too?"
"Thanks to your reminder in the video this morning, everyone dodged and didn't get hurt any more seriously. You really are a lucky charm."
He simply switched languages and turned to continue apologizing to Nan Ke.
"I knew I shouldn't have prepared a hundred outfits for you. I'm giving you back all the time you had this morning. You can rest now and then continue rehearsing."
As soon as she finished speaking, Tu Yao and Tu Chaoxi's faces both darkened.
Cormier is still self-destructing.
"Let's cancel the evening rehearsal activities as well. You've all worked so hard these past two weeks, practicing until 2 a.m. every night. But the results are pretty good, right? I can feel that your fingering has made a qualitative leap."
Cormier himself is a perfectionist and has high expectations of his team members, but he is also very easygoing in other aspects.
For example, the back-end system is messy and disorganized, and security is rudimentary.
Soon, Cormier noticed that the girl who had been quite enthusiastic towards him in the video was not happy at the moment.
"Hey, little mascot, what's wrong? Are you in a bad mood?"
Tu Yao: "I'd be quite happy if you didn't make Nan Ke change a hundred outfits."
Cormier's eyes lit up immediately.
"Isn't this what you call 'sarcasm' or 'odd' in Chinese idioms?"
