"Cen Ji, are you in there?" Yan Ying asked in a low voice.
It's already so late, Cen Ji can't have not returned yet. He wants to stay in the sect to accompany Mu Siyue, so he will definitely not take the initiative to cause trouble.
If an outer disciple is caught by patrolling disciples not returning to his residence after curfew, he will be punished.
"Cen Ji, am I coming in?"
There was still no movement in the room. Yan Ying pushed open the door and walked in.
With the help of moonlight, Yan Ying came to the bedside.
There was a person lying on the bed. The moonlight shone through the window onto the person on the bed, making his faded underwear look a little blue.
Cen Ji lay on his side on the bed, his arms resting on the pillow, his waist curved downward, and his long legs curled up without a blanket covering him.
Cen Ji faced the direction where Yan Ying was standing. He seemed not to hear any sound and was sleeping very soundly.
Yan Ying walked to the bedside and tentatively tried to touch Cen Ji's forehead.
She remembered that Cen Ji was unconscious with a fever last night, and she was worried that he would be the same tonight.
Yan Ying's hand was just about to cover Cen Ji's forehead.
Cen Ji's pair of deep and dark eyes suddenly opened.
Yan Ying immediately retracted her hand. Her heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and she was so scared that she almost screamed.
"Cen Ji, you didn't sleep, I thought..."
"Get out." Cen Ji said coldly.
Yan Ying looked at Cen Ji's cold eyes in confusion, wondering what was wrong with him? Hadn't Cen Ji been trying to trust her these past few days? Why had he suddenly become disgusted with her again?
"Can't you hear me?" Cen Ji raised his eyes and looked at Yan Ying.
Cen Ji had just exhausted most of his energy repairing his spiritual roots. He was now exhausted and his spiritual roots felt a strong burning sensation, which made him feel even worse.
"Today, I found out that my spiritual root attribute is thunder." Yan Ying said softly, as if she didn't hear Cen Ji's words. "Master will guide me in my cultivation, so I will go to Sunset Peak to practice tomorrow morning."
Cen Ji still looked at Yan Ying coldly, his eyes full of annoyance.
"I came here to tell you that I went to Sunset Peak to practice. I won't do anything bad to your sister, and I have no interest in bullying or harming her." Yan Ying squatted beside the bed and looked at Cen Ji at eye level.
Cen Ji said nothing, looking very impatient, with his brows slightly furrowed as if he really didn't want to listen to Yan Ying.
Did she coax Wu Bai and now she was coaxing him? Did she really think he was just a nobody?
He thought she had suddenly developed other feelings for him, which was why she had been acting so abnormally these days, but he didn't expect that she was the same way towards others.
"I don't believe you." Cen Ji said.
Yan Ying clung to the edge of the bed, staring at Cen Ji intently, trying to figure out what was driving him crazy.
[System: There is a new task, host, please check! ]
New mission: Make silence happy.
Yan Ying sniffed. To make Cen Ji happy? Cen Ji's face looked as ugly as it could be. How could she make him happy? Was this the ultimate joy of sorrow?
"Didn't you say you would try to believe me? Why don't you believe me now? Did I disappoint you?" Yan Ying asked softly.
"How many words of a person like you can be true?" Cen Ji said indifferently.
What kind of person is she?
"I didn't lie to you."
When did she lie to him? She cared so much about him, why didn't he believe her?
"Cen Ji, the selection for new disciples will be held in a month. I want you to pass the selection and enter the inner sect." Yan Ying looked at the person lying on the bed eagerly. She decided to say something else to prevent Cen Ji from exploding.
"I already understand the content of the selection. It's not difficult. You just need to..."
"Who else do you want to help enter the inner gate?" Cen Ji asked in a cold and unfriendly tone.
"I...only have you." Yan Ying didn't understand what Cen Ji said for a moment.
Did he see her go find Wu Bai? But Wu Bai didn't need her help. Wu Bai had let him go last time, so this time he should definitely be able to enter the inner gate.
"Heh." Cen Ji sneered.
He still wanted to strangle her to death, because if she died she wouldn't lie to him.
If she died, he would pull out her tongue, chop it into pieces and burn it into charcoal, so that she would never be able to lie in her next life.
"You mean Wu Bai? He deliberately lost to other disciples last year. This time, as long as he gives his all, he can enter the inner gate without my help." Yan Ying explained with a pout.
"Were your spiritual roots damaged? Have they recovered now?"
Cen Ji's eyes darkened, and some emotions arose in his heart.
What did Yan Ying mean by that? Wu Bai didn't need her help, but he did? Was Yan Ying looking down on him? Did she think he was useless?
"It has nothing to do with you. I will pass the selection."
"If you hadn't cancelled my place last year, I would have been an inner disciple now." Cen Ji snorted coldly.
"Have your spiritual roots recovered?" Yan Ying lowered one eyebrow and looked at Cen Ji tentatively.
This person is a habitual liar. She is obviously pale and looks uncomfortable, yet she still brags to her without worrying about catching her tongue.
"It will be of no benefit to you if I enter the inner sect to practice."
Yan Ying pursed her lips, ignoring Cen Ji's threatening tone. "That's not necessarily true."
"Why not?" Cen Ji lowered his voice.
"You've changed a lot. Before, you wanted to strangle me whenever you saw me, and you hated me to bits. But now you can stay awake and listen to me calmly."
Cen Ji sat up, and Yan Ying was still squatting on the ground. She raised her head and looked at Cen Ji's movements in confusion.
Cen Ji sat on the edge of the bed, bent down, and stretched out his hand to Yan Ying.
