"And I clearly saw the crab first!"
"My family has meat. Who says that if you have meat at home, you can't come to the beach to collect crabs?"
Upon hearing that her son was incompetent, Granny Chen immediately stood up.
"My son is incompetent? The reason we don't have meat at home is because of your stepmother!"
"She's over forty years old and pregnant, yet she still dares to think about giving birth. I have to take care of two pregnant women every day, plus two old men. Even if my son earns a mountain of gold and silver, it won't be enough to feed them!"
Xiang Wanwan could tell that Granny Chen had been suppressing her feelings for a long time.
He originally thought that by finding Xiang Shuxue as his daughter-in-law, he could get close to Lu Jingnian and gain some benefits.
As a result, not only did I not get any benefits, but I've now been reduced to a nanny, having to serve the entire Xiang family.
Wang's wife, who was standing nearby, couldn't help but laugh and joked:
"Hey Granny Chen, you were the one who wanted to marry him in the first place, and now you're complaining? Isn't that a bit inappropriate?"
"The Xiang family has a principal and a teacher, so in the end, your son is marrying above his station."
"Pooh!"
"What good is a school principal?!"
"Old Mrs. Chen said with a cold face."
Some onlookers couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Old woman Chen, you have no conscience! Principal Xiang gives money to buy groceries every month, haven't you seen that at all?"
"Exactly, they've bought from me several times!"
Granny Chen rolled her eyes at the person who was speaking.
"What's the use of just vegetables? Where's the meat?"
How can we live without meat?
Xiang Wanwan sneered, "Meat? How many families on this island can eat meat whenever they want? I have meat at home, but it's from pigs I raise myself."
"You want to eat meat without putting in any effort?"
Granny Chen was speechless.
If only she had raised pigs earlier, she might be able to eat meat freely now.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, so she took her anger out on Xiang Shuxue, who was standing next to her.
"You jinx! Ever since my son married you, my family hasn't had a single good day."
"If it weren't for your pregnant belly, I would definitely make my son divorce you!"
Xiang Shuxue was already feeling wronged, and now that Granny Chen was talking to her like this, she couldn't stand it anymore.
"You old hag, your son is useless and you're blaming me!"
"Do you believe I'll take your grandson and jump into the sea?!"
"Go ahead and jump! My grandson? Who knows if he's even a member of the Yan family? Maybe he's some man's bastard!" Granny Chen retorted.
Xiang Shuxue showed no remorse and continued to argue with Granny Chen.
Xiang Wanwan sneered inwardly.
It seems that Granny Chen still holds a grudge about what happened before and still has doubts about Xiang Shuxue's pregnancy.
No wonder she didn't give Xiang Shuxue a friendly look!
I'm afraid Li Jinglan isn't having an easy time either!
Pregnancy at this age is already quite difficult, especially with poor nutrition and Granny Chen complaining every day at home.
This family's life must be amazing!
Seeing the two arguing so fiercely, Xiang Wanwan couldn't be bothered to watch them fight any longer. She picked up her small bucket, turned around, and left with Aunt Wang and Aunt Wu.
Without Xiang Shuxue keeping an eye on her, Xiang Wanwan picked up quite a few more good things.
We collected quite a few razor clams, crabs, groupers, and clams.
They didn't turn back until all three of their buckets were full.
As soon as they reached the entrance of the courtyard, they heard the sounds of Chen Pozi and Li Jinglan arguing, along with clanging and banging noises, coming from the Yan family's house.
"The Yan family is really lively!" Sister Wang said with a smile.
Xiang Wanwan chimed in, "I wonder how Lieutenant Yan handles his mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationship every day when he gets home?" (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
