Most of these shells are empty, just hollow shells with no meat inside.
She remembered that when she was a child, she always liked to string seashells together to make wind chimes and hang them on the window. When a gust of wind blew, they would tinkle and jingle.
Seeing these seashells, she couldn't help but want to relive the joy of her childhood.
Xiang Wanwan picked out the brightly colored and pretty shells from the seashells, as well as those that were about the same size.
After taking it out, she will string it together and hang it on the pavilion in her yard. It will definitely have a unique charm.
After collecting the seashells, she saw that it was getting late and prepared to head back.
On the way back, Xiang Wanwan slowed down and started trying her luck to see if she could find anything else.
She was lucky; she soon found two stranded octopuses in a small puddle.
Xiang Wanwan has always liked spicy food. Octopus with some onions and chili peppers is especially fragrant when stir-fried.
However, it seems that the people here don't eat spicy food, so there were no chili peppers in the supplies.
She would ask Lu Jingnian later if he had any chili seeds, so she could plant some herself.
Although seafood should be enjoyed for its natural freshness, she thinks it tastes even better when stir-fried with chili peppers.
Octopus 2
Just as they were about to leave the beach, Xiang Wanwan suddenly discovered a lot of long, thin snails in a puddle.
"It's quite big."
It was as thick as her little finger, with eight or nine small segments on it.
This stuff is also delicious when stir-fried; it's a great dish to have with drinks.
She picked up the shovel again and dug out all the snails from the puddle. There were several kilograms of them, which was the most of any kind of snail she had gathered that day.
This trip was definitely worthwhile!
Xiang Wanwan's bright and beautiful eyes narrowed into slits with joy, like a crescent moon in the sky.
With all the snails put into the bucket, her beachcombing for the day was completely over.
As I walked out of the beach, I ran into a woman who had just come to gather seafood at this time.
"Comrade Xiang is going back! Hey, you had a good haul today, so many snails!"
There were three of them together. They must have already had lunch and deliberately chose to come to the beach when there were fewer people.
With a smile on her face, Xiang Wanwan greeted everyone: "Hello, sisters-in-law, I'm having a pretty good day."
"Are you going to replace these snails?"
One of the slightly plump women asked.
She had never run into Xiang Wanwan before, but this time she finally did, so she definitely wanted to get some seafood to take home and eat.
She couldn't possibly find so many good things on her own.
The leader's wife is a well-known expert at beachcombing in this area; whenever she goes out, she always returns with a full catch.
Xiang Wanwan still had a smile on her lips and said gently, "I won't change it this time. As you all know, I have two piglets at home, and this stuff isn't enough for them."
As soon as she said that, everyone suddenly understood.
"Oh right! I forgot about that. How are your piglets growing? We're waiting to eat them!"
Everyone looked on with anticipation.
"Not bad. We can slaughter it and eat meat by the end of the year. I'll definitely save some for my sisters-in-law then."
"Sisters, I'll head back for dinner now. We'll talk later."
"Okay, take it easy!
Everyone said goodbye with smiles.
Xiang Wanwan hadn't walked far when several women began whispering behind her back.
"Chief Lu's wife is truly remarkable; she can do everything from beachcombing and vegetable growing to raising pigs."
"That's right! I used to think that the wives of leaders were all pampered young ladies who never lifted a finger, but I didn't expect them to speak so gently and act so gracefully."
"That's right, let alone Chief Lu, even I, a woman, would like him."
The women went about their business, chatting about the people and events on the island... This chapter has been completed (please click to continue reading the next chapter!).
