Chapter 77 Fish seek fish, shrimp seek shrimp, turtles seek tortoises (2/2)

Of course not!

Granny Chen glanced at Li Jinglan beside her, her face full of resentment.

I thought the principal and teachers would take up a lot of supplies, but it turned out there weren't many at all, and they were all gone in less than half a month.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been eyeing the vegetables in Xiang Wanwan's yard.

But she can't afford to lose face like that!

She raised her chin slightly and said smugly, "Farming and raising pigs are things for uncouth people. My son is a second lieutenant, and my daughter-in-law is a teacher. How could I do such things?"

Li Jinglan chimed in, "Yes, even if we're shameless, we still have to think about the men in our families."

"It's so embarrassing to have a school principal, a teacher, whose family members are farmers!"

Upon hearing this, everyone looked at each other in bewilderment, and then couldn't help but laugh:

"That's really something! Even Commander Lu personally goes to the fields, so what's wrong with your son, a mere second lieutenant, not being able to farm?"

"I never expected that Granny Chen would be so clueless, and that the in-laws she found are the same."

"That's why they say fish find fish, shrimp find shrimp, and turtles find tortoises!"

Everyone burst into laughter.

Xiang Wanwan couldn't help but laugh along.

They're almost starving, yet they still can't take off Kong Yiji's long gown!

I wonder who was competing with her for wild chrysanthemum greens before, but now they're acting all high and mighty.

She looked at the two of them coldly and said, "Fine, since you look down on us vegetable growers so much, then you'd better not grow vegetables at all!"

When Li Jinglan saw that everyone was laughing at them, she immediately turned around and left.

Granny Chen snorted coldly and followed them back.

Seeing that there was nothing exciting to see, everyone dispersed.

Looking at their retreating figures, Aunt Wang said to Xiang Wanwan, "This family is going to have a good show to watch from now on. If they don't grow vegetables, what will they eat?"

"Although we can't eat meat more than twice a month now, the seafood we collect and the vegetables we grow ourselves are enough for my two children and me."

"To be honest, it's all thanks to you for setting the good example. Now everyone is following your lead in growing vegetables, and their lives are gradually getting better."

Xiang Wanwan smiled faintly, "Isn't it great now? No one has to worry about not having enough food."

"That's right!"

Aunt Wang took a basket of chili peppers back, and then filled a basket full of chives for Xiang Wanwan.

"Take it home and use it to make dumplings or scrambled eggs; it's so tender."

"Okay!"

After taking the chives home, Xiang Wanwan brought out the wine she had brewed earlier; it should be about time.

She carried the bottle out and placed it on the stone table in the pavilion. Because it was made from green grapes, the wine was a light blue color and looked quite clear.

Xiang Wanwan quickly poured herself a glass and put it in her mouth, taking a small sip first.

The wine has a strong aroma, followed by the sweetness of grapes, and it doesn't burn your throat at all.

Delicious!

She took several more big gulps, clearly enjoying it.

"It's just too little."

This time there were only about twenty bunches of grapes, enough to make just one small bottle, not even enough for her to drink alone.

Xiang Wanwan lay alone in a chair, drinking one glass of wine after another.

She remained asleep until her cheeks were slightly flushed and she felt a little tipsy.

When Lu Jingnian returned, he saw this scene.

Xiang Wanwan lay on the chair with her face flushed, a wine glass and a small bottle of wine next to her on the table.

He smiled indulgently, a slight curve to his lips.

Then he picked up the wine glass on the table and poured himself a glass as well.

The moment he tasted it, he was pleasantly surprised.

He had drunk quite a lot of alcohol before, but this alcohol was different from the ones he had drunk before. It was sweet and not spicy.

No wonder my wife drank so much!

He bent down, preparing to carry the person into the room. Just as he picked her up, Xiang Wanwan opened her eyes.

"Honey, you're back!"

Lu Jingnian was stunned.

This was the first time Xiang Wanwan had called him that. (This chapter has been finished. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
