Chapter 154: Questioning
"Granduncle, please have some tea."
Yinreng picked up the tea and took a sip, and did not forget to greet Soetu.
Soetu Erzhang was puzzled. He always felt that the prince was acting strange today, but he couldn't tell what was wrong. He could only take things one step at a time and followed the prince's instructions, picking up the tea on the table and taking a sip.
Suo Etu put down the tea bowl and praised it with great interest: "Good tea!"
"If my great uncle likes it, I'll take some back later." Yinreng said lightly. After all, the thing he had the most was these material possessions.
"Then I would like to thank Your Highness the Crown Prince for his kindness." Soetu stood up to express his gratitude.
Seeing that the prince was as respectful to him as ever, Soetu felt relieved and picked up the tea and took another sip.
Seeing that Suo Etu had not yet realized why he had called him here, Yinreng spoke casually, "Granduncle, do you think I am not doing a good job as the crown prince?"
Suo Etu was startled and stood up quickly. "Your Highness, who said that? Did the Emperor call you to tell him about it?"
Who was it? The eldest prince? Or Concubine Jin? Otherwise, the prince would not ask such a question for no reason. Suo Etu suspected everyone he could in his mind.
The anxiety on Soetu's face could not be faked; he cared about this matter more than Yinreng himself.
"Granduncle, don't panic. It's not what Khan Ama said."
Before Suo Etu could breathe a sigh of relief, Yinreng continued, "I just feel that there are always people acting under my name, and trying to keep me in the dark. What do you think my uncle should do with such people?"
Suo Etu was furious, "Who is so bold? How dare he deceive His Royal Highness the Crown Prince!"
"Granduncle, you don't have to care who it is. Just tell me how to deal with it."
Yinreng insisted that Soetu give an answer, but Soetu hesitated and stammered, unable to speak.
"What? Doesn't your great uncle know?" Yinreng raised his eyebrows and looked at Soetu coldly.
Now, even if Soetu was slow-witted, he knew that he had made the prince unhappy at some point.
Suo Etu immediately knelt on the ground and said, "I deserve to die... Please forgive me, Your Highness!"
"What crime did my great uncle commit?"
"This..." Soetu really didn't know what he had done wrong.
"My great uncle couldn't even say it, so why should I forgive him?" Yinreng's voice was already tinged with ice, showing that he was about to get angry.
Yinreng sat on a chair, and Suo'etu knelt on the ground. The harmonious atmosphere in the study just now disappeared.
Yinreng looked at Soetu coldly. He had learned how to be a king since he was young. What he disliked most were those who were clever and thought they could get away with it.
"What? Uncle, you haven't remembered it yet? Do you need me to remind you?"
Suo Etu shook his head repeatedly, "No, no..."
Could it be that he accepted the tribute money from his subordinates and the prince knew about it? Or was his plot to frame a good official exposed?
But this shouldn't be the case. He also handed over a portion of the tribute money he received to the prince, and the officials he suppressed were not from the prince's faction. Why did the prince do this?
Soetu had long forgotten about the fact that he had framed the Juechan family. After all, in Soetu's eyes, if the Juechan family had not been lucky enough to have Concubine Jin, the Juechan family would not have been in his eyes at all. How could he remember this matter?
The prince was disappointed when he saw that Soetu still did not repent.
He threw the bag that Yuying had given him to Suo'etu, "Uncle, take a look at it yourself!"
Soetu took the bundle and knelt on the ground to look through it.
