Guess what's behind it~ "Uncle, this is my wife Lu Tian. I brought her to see you." Meng Jingdong held Lu Tian's hand. The temperature of his big palm was neither warm nor hot, but dry and comfortable. His palm was against the back of her smooth hand.
Lu Tian kept smiling and followed Meng Jingdong in calling him "Uncle".
"Hello, Lu Tian." Lu Chengyang's eyes slid across her face cherishingly. He sat up, wearing a hospital gown that was neat and had almost no wrinkles, as if it was specially prepared.
Lu Tian looked him over calmly. Lu Chengyang had already asked Meng Jingdong to bring two chairs. The two of them sat together in front of the bed and talked to Lu Chengyang.
Most of the questions were directed at Lu Tian, asking about her school life and how happy she was. Lu Tian's answers were formal and methodical, not much different from when she met Mr. and Mrs. Meng. However, Lu Chengyang still looked very satisfied. Although the red envelope he gave to Lu Tian as a meeting gift was a thin layer, it was definitely something like a check.
"I watched Jingdong grow up. He has a calm personality, is steady and focused in his work, and has a good temper. The two of you are definitely a perfect match."
Lu Tian continued to smile and glanced at Meng Jingdong secretly, and found that he was still calm, so she listened to Lu Chengyang's praise of her without any guilt, if she could ignore the slightly strange look in Professor Lu's eyes.
However, the two did not sit for long. The main purpose of their visit today was to do a bone marrow matching test. Meng Jingdong had already contacted the doctor. Lu Tian stood up and said that she could do it. She followed the nurse and left, leaving Meng Jingdong to continue accompanying Lu Chengyang.
As soon as she left, Lu Chengyang breathed a sigh of relief, but stared at the door: "Jingdong, there's nothing unusual about my behavior, right?"
After weighing the pros and cons, Meng Jingdong answered frankly: "A little more enthusiastic than my parents."
"...That's okay." He slowly relaxed and leaned back on the pillow. He had been keeping his back straight and was actually a little tired.
"Are you planning to keep this secret forever?"
Lu Chengyang smiled bitterly: "Should I suddenly appear in front of her and tell her that I am her father who has been missing for more than 20 years? She hates me so much, she won't want to see me. If... If I can survive this time, I will definitely tell her."
Meng Jingdong remained silent, and no one knew what the result of this bone marrow matching was.
——
Lu Tian was still resting after having her blood drawn when she suddenly received a call from Tian Jing.
"Where are you?" Tian Jing's voice sounded a little unusual.
"In the hospital, accompanying Meng Jingdong to visit a relative of his." Lu Tian was very sensitive to the emotions of the people around her. She could even hear Tian Jing's unstable breathing through the receiver.
Tian Jing asked which hospital it was, and she replied obediently. After a while, she mentioned the news forwarded in her circle of friends.
"What's up with that Professor Lu you forwarded? Mom used to be good friends with him, but we haven't been in touch since. I only found out about this from your Moments. I have to go visit him."
Lu Tian's heart moved: "Mom, the person I accompanied Meng Jingdong to the city hospital to see today is Professor Lu. You also know him, what a coincidence."
"Really? That's a coincidence." Tian Jing concealed her excitement and told Lu Tian, "Be good. Don't disturb him and don't tell him about me for now. I'll find time to visit him."
"I know."
Tian Jing breathed a sigh of relief and asked her how to get back to school.
"Meng Jingdong should take me back." Lu Tian said uncertainly. Even if Boss Meng didn't take me back, there was still money for a taxi back.
Meng Jingdong stood behind her and listened to her say her name very smoothly. He felt strange, but it was not a good idea to eavesdrop from behind, so he coughed lightly to remind her.
Lu Tian suddenly turned around and said goodbye to Tian Jing on the other end of the phone.
"Shall I take you home?"
"Aren't you going to say goodbye to your uncle?"
Meng Jingdong looked at her deeply and nodded: "Just say it and leave. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." After traveling through time, Lu Tian started running to maintain her health. She was determined to take good care of her body. Drawing some blood did not prevent her from continuing to be full of energy.
The two walked side by side towards the ward. There were three or four office workers in suits and ties in the ward. They were holding reports and notebooks in their hands. When they saw the two, they stopped at the same time.
Lu Chengyang was wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, and his hospital gown did not affect his demeanor at all. However, when he saw Lu Tian, he couldn't help but soften. When he heard her say that she was leaving, he actually threw off the quilt and got out of bed to see them off. Lu Tian was too late to stop him, so she could only walk to the door and wave goodbye to him.
Meng Jingdong explained, "My uncle is a rather old-fashioned and polite person. Don't take anything he does wrong to heart."
"How could that be? Professor Lu is a very nice person."
"Do you know him?" Meng Jingdong asked in surprise.
"Of course I know. Isn't he a visiting professor at our school? I've heard classmates mention him."
"I see."
On the way back, Meng Jingdong remained silent. Only when they got off the car did they hear him say goodbye. Lu Tian didn't care. She was destined to be someone else's cannon fodder ex-wife anyway, and she didn't plan to return home with her husband.
When she returned to the dormitory, only Peng Yangyang was there, eating instant noodles. When she smelled the aroma of braised beef, Lu Tian realized belatedly that lunch time had passed and Meng Jingdong had not even mentioned lunch. She was so nervous that she didn't even feel hungry.
"Yangyang, can you give me a bucket of instant noodles?" Lu Tian's mouth was watering.
Peng Yangyang generously shared a bucket of instant noodles with her. Lu Tian's hands were a little excited as she tore open the package. How could she not try instant noodles after having a healthy body? She followed Peng Yangyang's instructions, pouring hot water over the noodles, adding the seasoning, and then placing the textbook on the instant noodle bucket, waiting quietly for a few minutes for the noodles to soften.
