Chapter 53 Eating Watermelon

Bai An looked down at his equipment, nodded, and said to Lu Jinan: "Brother, you start cutting from that side, and I'll start from the other side."

Lu Jinan agreed, but he was worried about Bai An who was standing beside him, "If you feel tired, just stop."

"No need." Bai An looked at the wheat waves in front of him, intending to show off his skills. "It's just a small piece. I can still do it. Brother, don't think of me as too weak."

But the fact proves that Bai An is indeed a little weak.

In just a short while, Bai An was already sweating profusely, his waist was so sore that he couldn't lift it, and his arms gradually began to become weak.

Bai An looked up with difficulty and saw that Lu Jinan had already cut the wheat to the average line she had drawn, with a cold face still expressionless, as if he was the only one who was tired in the process of cutting wheat.

"Brother!" Bai An shouted, "Cut slower, I'm a little slow here."

Hearing Bai An's voice, Lu Jin'an looked up and saw that Bai An's whole face was abnormally flushed, with beads of sweat sticking to her cheeks, forehead, and nose tip, then rolling down her neck and into the hidden collar.

Even though Bai An was sweating profusely, there was no greasiness on her body. Instead, she felt as refreshing as a lotus flower emerging from clear water.

"take a break."

...

...

"Okay!" Bai An agreed with both hands. She really had no strength left now.

Lu Jinan opened the water cup under the shade of the tree and handed it to Bai An, "Drink slowly."

Lu Jinan took the towel off Bai An's neck and gently used it to wipe the water stains that Bai An accidentally left because of his anxiety.

But when the towel touched Bai An's chin, Bai An suddenly stepped back, waved to Lu Jinan, and continued to drink water.

Lu Jinan's hand was just hanging in the air, his heart was filled with turmoil, but he didn't show it on his face. He just slowly took the towel back.

After waiting for Bai An to eagerly finish the water in his cup, he put his face in front of Lu Jinan.

When Lu Jinan saw the face approaching, the anger in his heart disappeared instantly. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly and he gently wiped the water stain.

"Brother, let's rest for a while." Bai An looked at the little wheat left in front of him and said, "How about I take care of the rest while you rest."

Lu Jinan looked at Bai An who was leaning on his shoulder, raised his eyebrows, and said jokingly: "Aren't you tired? Why are you still thinking about harvesting wheat?"

"Ah." Bai An sighed helplessly and said, "Originally I wanted to share it with you in half, but now you have already cut off your half, and the rest is mine."

Lu Jinan looked at the wheat in front of him and said, "In that case, I'll leave first."

When Bai An saw Lu Jinan getting up and about to leave, he quickly grabbed his sleeve and said pitifully, "You're really leaving."

"No, I'm just teasing you." Lu Jinan pulled Bai An up from the ground, "Come on, I'll help you."

"Yeah!" Bai An reorganized his equipment, helped Lu Jinan to tidy up his equipment, and then walked towards the wheat field.

Bai An hadn't been cutting for long when Lu Jinan came up to her while cutting wheat. Under Bai An's confused look, Lu Jinan also cut the small handful of wheat in front of her.

Lu Jinan put away the harvested wheat, turned to Bai An and said, "Go back and tell Dad first, and then we'll see what to do next."

Bai An responded and followed Lu Jinan towards home.

"Dad!" Bai An's voice had already reached the house before he even entered the door.

Wanqing heard the voice, wiped her hands and came out of the kitchen, smiling and said, "You're back. Dad went out and might come back in the evening."

"By the way, I put your books on Jin An's desk."

Lu Jinan smiled at Wanqing, "Thank you, Mom?"

Bai An also took Wanqing's hand and said with a smile: "Mom is so nice."

"You are just sweet-talkers." Wanqing pretended to be mysterious and whispered to the children, "Guess what I prepared for you?"

"What?" Bai An leaned his ear closer and whispered, "What is it?"

Lu Jinan looked at Wanqing's appearance, and looked into the kitchen with a premonition, and saw the watermelon on the table.

At this time, Bai An was still asking curiously what it was.

Seeing this, Wanqing smiled dotingly and said, "Come in and take a look."

As soon as Bai An entered the house, he saw the big red watermelon on the table.

"It's a watermelon!" Bai An asked happily, "Where did the watermelon come from?"

"Dad saw you guys harvesting wheat today, so he bought them specially." Wanqing said as she handed Bai An the reddest piece of watermelon.

Lu Jinan also picked up a piece of watermelon and handed it to Wanqing, then took one for himself.

Bai An likes to eat watermelon, but he can't eat much. Just like now, after eating a piece, he doesn't want to eat anymore.

"Bai An, eat more." Wanqing took a piece of watermelon that looked smaller and handed it to Bai An again.

Bai An shook his head and said, "I'll eat when Dad comes back. I can't eat now."

"Okay, then I'll cover the remaining watermelons with the basket first." Wanqing said to Bai An.

After a while, Wanqing seemed to have thought of something and said, "A boy just came to see you, Bai An, did you know?"

Bai An looked up blankly, "I don't know."

"Really?" Wanqing pointed in front of her, "That boy is very tall, about the same height as your brother, with thick eyebrows and big eyes. He smiled when he talked to me, and was shy. Is he your classmate?"

Before Bai An could speak, Lu Jinan frowned. According to Wanqing's description, he had a hunch that he must have seen that boy before.

But Bai An thought about it and couldn't figure out who it was, "Is it Da Zhuang?"

"No, I still remember Da Zhuang, not him." Wanqing recalled the boy's appearance and couldn't help saying, "He's quite handsome, Bai An. He said he'll come to see you later. You wait at home for a while."

Bai An nodded, but still didn't understand why he had to come to her specifically.

In the afternoon, Bai An was reading a book and writing under the guidance of Lu Jinan. A clear voice came from outside the door, accompanied by a knock on the door.

"Aunt, is Bai An at home now?"

Listening to the sound outside the door, Bai An felt somewhat familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before.

Wanqing heard it and said quickly, "Here, I'll open the door for you first."

When Wanqing opened the gate, the young man outside greeted Wanqing hurriedly and looked behind her impatiently.

Bai An just looked up and met his eyes outside the yard.

Before Bai An could see his face clearly, the boy lowered his head as if frightened. Bai An could only vaguely see his red ears and neck.
