Chapter 2 When Gods Fight, Little Demons Suffer

Mo Yuhua, holding a long spear, roared, "Xie Ning, disregarding the great kindness the master has shown you, you not only harmed the master but also tried to hunt down my mother and me. You are a wolf in sheep's clothing, ungrateful and treacherous."

A man in his early twenties rode out on horseback, sneering, "He treated me with great kindness? I'm ungrateful? What did he say back then? He said he'd adopt me as his son, and that the family business and military power would all be mine. Who knew that he'd have a son late in life and then kick me out, making me take that little kid's place? I've worked diligently for years, endured so much hardship and suffering, and in the end, I've only made a wedding dress for someone else. How can you expect me to accept this?"

"Xie Ning, whether you accept it or not is a personal grudge, but you actually colluded with rebels and acted in concert, causing the people under your jurisdiction to suffer from war. Do you plead guilty?" Mo Yuhua's voice was clear and fearless.

Xie Ning's face twisted in a ferocious grimace. "Even if I didn't rebel, do you think he could hold out for more than a few days? Traitor? Right now, there's a severe drought in the north, refugees everywhere, and unrest in many parts of the south. It's been over two hundred years since foreign invaders occupied our Han land. Who's the traitor is still uncertain!"

As he spoke, Xie Ning lost his patience. He noticed that the enemy's numbers had dwindled considerably, and the woman seemed to be stalling for time. So he roared, "Brothers, charge! Capture this woman and her son! There will be a hefty reward!"

With over two hundred knights charging forward, the disparity in numbers was already significant, and half of them had taken the young master and fled. How could the remaining half possibly withstand the onslaught?

But they were fearless in the face of death, and were skilled fighters in one-on-one combat. Some of them, despite suffering multiple wounds, continued to fight until they were on their last breath...

The villagers in the bushes by the roadside dared not utter a sound. Although they had fought and killed many people along the way to protect their food and water, they had never encountered anything like this before.

These people, one side of whom appeared to be highly skilled martial arts guards, and the other side to be a well-trained army, were all quite different in number, but this did not prevent the battle from being particularly fierce and brutal.

"Please don't get in our way, God bless us, Buddha bless us!"

Aunt Wu, standing beside Chenxi, kept chanting Buddhist prayers in a very low voice, her body already trembling.

Even for Shenxi, a person living in a peaceful era, encountering such a situation unexpectedly would make one tremble in the heart. If things went wrong, it could implicate them, and they would certainly not be able to survive!

This must be what they mean by "when gods fight, little devils suffer!"
