Chapter 11 Thoughts

Li Yan nodded thoughtfully: "Brother, where is the shopkeeper here?"

"The shopkeeper has been troubled by this matter recently and has gone to the capital to discuss countermeasures."

Li Yan didn't keep the conversation a secret when she heard this and whispered to her cousin, "I know a recipe that goes really well with rice. Do you want to know?"

Li Jianmin looked at his cunning cousin suspiciously and couldn't help asking, "Could it be that Second Sister is teasing her brother?"

Li Yan whispered to her cousin, "Brother, are you waiting for your boss to come back? Let's do this..."

Li Jianmin couldn't help but blush with excitement after hearing this, no longer showing the dejection he had just shown when he was bullied: "Boss, come back tomorrow!"

After the two of them discussed it, Li Yan took out ten coins to pay the bill. Li Jianmin stopped her and said, "Brother, please eat!"

Li Yan looked at the thin boy standing straight in front of her. The burden of life had already been placed on this fourteen-year-old child. She silently took back the copper coin.

The two of them left the restaurant and walked towards the pork stall. They saw a stall selling steamed buns next to the market. Li Yan walked up to it and asked, "Boss, how much are the steamed buns?"

The man said, "Meat is two cents each, and vegetables are one cent each."

Daya pulled Li Yan, and Li Yan said, "I think my brother might not be eating well there. Let's buy him some meat buns to try."

Daya lowered her head. Yes, she saw that her brother had become thinner and had just been bullied!

Li Yan bought ten meat buns and divided them into two portions of five each. She told Daya, "Sister, give this one to your brother, and have your brother give the other one to the fat guy!"

Daya didn't quite understand, but she felt that her cousin had a point. She took the package and rushed to the restaurant like a gust of wind.

Li Yan ordered ten meat buns and ten vegetable buns, planning to take them back as a snack for everyone.

He took out his purse from his bosom, counted out fifty copper coins and handed them to the boss. Seeing that they bought so much at once, the boss of the bun shop readily gave them two vegetable buns as a gift.

Li Jianmin was surprised to see the girl coming back.

Daya quickly handed over the bun in her hand and said, "Sister Erya asked me to bring it to you. It's a meat bun. This one is for you to give to the fat man just now." After saying that, she ran away like a gust of wind without waiting for her brother to reply.

Li Jianmin stared at the paper bag in his hand in a daze. A warm breath came from his hand, and his eyes couldn't help but redden.

Hearing the sound of footsteps behind him, Li Jianmin quickly gathered his attention and hid a meat bun.

At this time, Fatty Wang stomped into the front hall. Li Jianmin said with a smile, "My sister just brought some buns. Brother Wang, try some too." He then handed it over.

Fatty Wang looked him up and down and said, "The last time I asked you to treat us, I was giving you face. You should be sensible like this in the future!" After saying that, he took the buns and went back to the kitchen.

Li Yan waited for Daya here, and the two went to the meat market.

The butcher shop was almost sold out by then. When the two of them arrived at the second shop, Li Yan asked, "Excuse me, is this Uncle Zhu? My brother, Li Jianmin from Piaoxianglou, bought two pounds of meat here for us to take home."

Upon hearing this, the big man took out a piece of pork belly with fat and lean strips from the basket behind him and handed it to them: "The best pork belly, uncle saved this for you!"

Li Yan took the meat and said, "Thank you, uncle. How much are the pig heads and offal in the basket behind you?"

Butcher Zhu said, "Half a pig's head weighs three pounds. You can give me thirty coins. There's nothing much to be had from the offal. You can take it all for five coins!"

Li Yan nodded quickly to indicate that she wanted to buy it. Butcher Zhu quickly helped them pack it up.
