Chapter 266 Buying a Donkey

Gradually losing hope, Lin Feng and Zhou Da sat on a stone bench by the street to rest, feeling somewhat helpless in the face of the predicament before them. Suddenly, Zhou Da looked up and saw the familiar restaurant and said to Lin Feng beside him, "Why don't we go in and ask?"

Worried that Lin Feng was unwilling, Zhou Da continued to explain: "I am quite familiar with this shopkeeper. All the prey I hunted in the past were sold here!"

Lin Feng, who was feeling disappointed, quickly stood up after hearing Zhou Da's idea and said, "Let's go and ask."

When the two arrived at the restaurant, the owner was checking the accounts for the day. He heard someone come in, looked up and saw that it was Zhou Da. He dropped the account book in his hand and asked, "Why are you here to collect swill so early today?"

Zhou Da immediately waved his hand and explained, "I came here to ask you where I can find mules for sale. You've been running a shop in this town for a long time, so you must be more informed than us!"

The shopkeeper heard this and asked, "You want to buy a horse or mule? I'm afraid there aren't any in this town! But in ten days it will be the fifteenth, and there will be a livestock market then. Maybe we'll find some then!"

After hearing what the shopkeeper said, Lin Feng couldn't help but feel disappointed. He couldn't wait for ten days.

Looking at the two silent people, the shopkeeper said, "There are no mules in this town, but there are donkeys! Although there are some differences between donkeys and mules, using donkeys to pull goods is no problem. At least it's better than having no animals at all."

After hearing what the shopkeeper said, Lin Feng weighed the pros and cons in his mind. Time was running out and he couldn't wait any longer. Thinking of this, Lin Feng stepped forward, clasped his fists in greeting, and asked, "Excuse me, shopkeeper, where is this donkey?"

The shopkeeper thought for a moment and said, "It's not far, but the price that man asked for is 10% higher than the ordinary donkey, so he never sold it!"

Lin Feng was delighted when he heard this and said, "Could you please tell me where that person lives now?"

The shopkeeper said: "Go out, turn right and walk to the entrance of a small alley. The first house you go into is here!"

The two men excitedly said goodbye to the owner of the restaurant and came to the man's door. Lin Feng stood outside the door and knocked, and an old man opened the gate.

Lin Feng asked the old man if he had any donkeys for sale.

The old man was stunned. He looked Lin Feng up and down and said, "I'll sell it, but I want to increase the price of this donkey by 10%. Are you willing?"

Lin Feng smiled and said, "I wonder if you could take us to see this donkey first. If it's suitable, there will be no problem!"

The old man nodded and led the two men into the courtyard. He pointed at the donkey that was eating grass and said to them, "Look at this donkey of mine! I'm not exaggerating, but I'm afraid there's no other donkey in this town that's more energetic than this one!"

Lin Feng followed the direction of the old man's finger and saw a tall and burly donkey with smooth hair and bright and powerful eyes.

Lin Feng approached the donkey, patted its back gently, and then carefully observed its hooves. He noticed that the donkey's paws were strong and hard. While touching the donkey's body, Lin Feng noticed that it was very docile, and Lin Feng was very satisfied.

Lin Feng said to the old man, "Old man, please name a price for this donkey. I want it!"

When the old man heard Lin Feng said he wanted to buy it, he was delighted: "Young man, you are a straightforward person, then give me eight taels of silver!"

Lin Feng paid the money promptly and led the donkey out the door.

Considering that they were going to set off tomorrow, Lin Feng asked Zhou Da to take him to the food store and prepare some food for the journey.

Lin Feng put two large bags of food on the mule's back, and then the two of them hurried back.
