Chapter 31 Help

When Manager Qian came out of the private room, Li Yan hurriedly asked her cousin to sit down. Her cousin had obviously been in much better spirits these days.

Li Jianmin placed the braised meat, stir-fried pork slices, fried eggs with ginger and scallions, and winter melon soup on the tray one by one and sat down next to Li Yan.

Li Yan picked up a piece of braised pork with chopsticks and said to her cousin, "The price of rice in the city is too low right now. No one wants to sell it at a low price! I came here to consult with Shopkeeper Qian."

Li Jianmin heard his cousin say this and asked anxiously, "What should we do? Is the tax money enough?"

As he spoke, he reached into his pocket and took out his purse: "I still have one tael and one qian of silver here, which the shopkeeper gave me some time ago. I don't have time to go back either, so you can take these back for emergencies!"

Li Yan stopped him: "Shopkeeper Qian has already promised me that Piaoxianglou will buy food from our village. Big brother, you should keep this money for yourself first."

The two of them ate and chatted about their recent situation. After eating and drinking, Li Yan followed her cousin to the back hall.

At this time, the kitchen was already busy, with people rinsing and cutting vegetables, making a lot of noise.

He led his cousin into the kitchen and said to one of the chefs, "The shopkeeper has two new dishes. Let her come and cook them for you to try first."

Li Yan went forward to greet the chef, and then said to the waiter who was looking at her, "Brother, please prepare a piece of pork belly, a piece of pork tenderloin and some dried vegetables for me."

The young man couldn't help but listen to Li Yan's instructions, turned around to prepare, and soon took the ingredients and placed them in front of Li Yan.

Li Yan first cut the pork tenderloin into strips, marinated it with salt, cooking wine and ginger juice and set it aside. Then she cut the pork belly into squares and soaked the pickled mustard greens in warm water.

Boil water and blanch the pork belly. Add the scallions, cooking wine, and ginger slices. Remove from heat and smear soy sauce on the pork belly to color it.

Heat oil in a pan, put the pork belly into the pan and fry it over high heat for a while, then remove the meat and let it cool for later use.

Squeeze the soaked pickled mustard greens to remove moisture, add seasonings and stir-fry until combined.

Finally, cut the cooled pork belly into thin slices and place them on the preserved vegetables. Take out the steamer, place the preserved vegetables and pork belly in it, and steam over low heat for half an hour.

After finishing the braised pork with dried vegetables, Li Yan prepared the sweet and sour pork tenderloin.

Pour the starch into the marinated tenderloin so that each tenderloin is coated with starch.

Heat oil in a pan, pour the tenderloin into the pan and fry until golden brown.

Finally, leave a little oil in the pot, add sugar, white vinegar, and a little starch water and boil until thick and bubbly, then add the pork tenderloin, stir-fry evenly, sprinkle with white sesame seeds and serve.

After the sweet and sour pork tenderloin was ready, the braised pork with dried vegetables was served. Everyone in the kitchen gathered around. Li Yan picked up the chopsticks and handed them to the chef, saying modestly, "I'm an amateur when it comes to cooking. Please taste it and help me improve if there's anything wrong."

Upon hearing this, the chef picked up his chopsticks and tasted the sweet and sour pork tenderloin. It was sweet and sour and very appetizing. He then took another bite of the braised pork belly. The pork belly was soft, tender and fragrant, fat but not greasy. The chef nodded continuously in agreement.

At this time, Shopkeeper Qian came over smelling the aroma. Seeing the new dish made by Li Yan, he hurriedly picked up his chopsticks and tasted it. While he was eating with satisfaction, he thought to himself, "This little girl is really lucky."

After teaching the kitchen chef, Li Yan left Piaoxianglou.

She also had to go to the embroidery shop to deliver the handkerchief her mother had given her to Madam Zhou.
