Chapter 334 Crushed

Heavy snow continued to fall throughout the day, and Li Dalang had to climb onto the roof from time to time to clear the snow.

After receiving instructions from the clan leader, the villagers of Lijia Village also got busy. The men carefully climbed onto the roofs using wooden ladders to clear the thick snow, while the women and children swept the snow in front of and behind the houses to make it easier for their families to pass through!

As she was thinking about the livestock at the foot of the mountain, Li Yan went down the mountain after clearing the snow in front of and behind the house.

When Li Yan arrived at the foot of the mountain, Old Man Zhao was busy shoveling snow off the roof with his son. Seeing Li Yan, he hurriedly greeted her, "It's freezing and snowy here! Why are you here, young lady? If you have anything to do, go home first. I'll be right down!"

Li Yan: "Old man, please be careful. Let's talk after you're done!" Li Yan followed the path cleared by the women and went to see Zhao Da's wife and children first. Seeing that they were dressed quite warmly, she felt relieved and then went to Guo's house.

When Li Yan arrived at the Guo family's house, the two daughters-in-law were sewing shoe soles with their mother-in-law. Seeing Li Yan coming, they quickly put down their work and came forward to greet her. "It's freezing cold out here, is there anything I can do for you? Just send a message and let us go. Why did you come here in person?"

Li Yan: "Nothing, it's snowing so heavily, I came to ask if there's any food shortage at home."

"Miss Lao is worried about us. We have everything we need at home!"

Li Yan gave her mother-in-law and daughter-in-law a few more instructions. At this time, the voices of Zhao's father and son calling her came from outside the door!

Li Yan walked out and saw the two people covered in snow. "Why don't you wear a straw raincoat? But we don't have any here."

Old man Zhao waved his hands quickly: "It's okay, girl!"

Li Yan: "This is my fault. I forgot to prepare a raincoat for you. Come with me and get two later! It's cold today, don't get sick!"

The father and son nodded repeatedly in gratitude!

Li Yan thought about the purpose of her trip and asked, "It's been snowing for so long. Are the livestock at home doing well?"

Old Man Zhao nodded repeatedly. "Don't worry, young lady. My son and I drove the livestock into the pen before the weather changed yesterday. We laid out clean grass inside. I went to feed them this morning, and they were all very energetic!"

After hearing what Old Man Li said, Li Yan finally felt relieved: "You guys have to work hard these days. Animals can't stand the cold just like humans!"

Old Man Zhao: "Don't worry, girl, I saved it!"

Since the animals were safe, Li Yan led Zhao Da back home. When they reached the door, they suddenly noticed several sturdy timbers behind it. Li Yan stopped and asked, "Are these timbers left over from the last time we built the house?"

Zhao Da nodded in agreement!

It is difficult to travel on snowy roads. Now that we have livestock at home, we can make a sled, which makes traveling much more convenient!

Seeing the thick wood, Li Yan couldn't help but ask, "Can you make a sled?"

Zhao Da agreed: "Not to mention how well it's made, it's perfectly usable for travel. In my hometown, we mostly use sleds for travel on snowy days!"

Li Yan didn't expect that she had asked the right person. She said happily, "Uncle Zhao, please help me make a simple sled!"

Zhao Da waved his hands repeatedly: "No trouble, there's nothing to do in winter!"

Zhao Da followed Li Yan back home, took two raincoats and started making a sled with his father!

During these three days, heavy snow has been falling continuously. At the order of the clan leader, the villagers of Lijia Village went up to the roofs from time to time to clear the thick snow. Fortunately, no houses in Lijia Village collapsed during this heavy snow because of the timely cleaning.

Compared to the luck of Lijia Village, other villages did not have such luck. Not to mention the distant ones, in Liujia Village, the house collapsed in the middle of the night because the snow on the roof was not cleared in time. It hit the sleeping elderly couple. When the villagers pulled them out, they were already dead!

Liujia Village had a total of ninety-three households, and over thirty of them were affected by the disaster, including my aunt's family. Fortunately, the only house that collapsed was the kitchen, so the family escaped unharmed. The old patriarch, Liu, had been exhausted from three days of traveling and finally fell ill!

The entire Liujia Village was immersed in a sad mood. If there were only one or two families encountering such a thing, the patriarch might be able to provide relief, but one-third of the families in the village were affected to varying degrees, and even if they wanted to, they were powerless!

With nothing to do on a snowy day, Li Yan started writing his storybook again. He promised to go look for Zheng Hui after finishing the work at hand. He never expected that it would be delayed for another ten days. He didn't know why this girl was angry with him!

To make amends to Zheng Hui, Li Yan spent the past three days in her room, apart from eating, sleeping, and monitoring her father's injuries, writing a storybook. After finishing the last paragraph, Li Yan stood up, blew away the ink, straightened up, stretched, and then walked out the door.

Li Yan looked at the vast expanse of white outside the house. The heavy snow that had fallen for three days had finally stopped!

I just don’t know how much disaster this heavy snow has brought to the people in the northwest!
