Chapter 419 Building a Workshop

It was already late, so Mr. Li said to his eldest grandson, "Go find two thick clothes and wrap these two children in them!"

Li Jianmin advised: "Master, it's cold now, let them sleep here, and you can come and pick them up tomorrow morning!"

Old Master Li shook his head: "Go and get it!" After all, his grandson works in a restaurant. If he has to get up early tomorrow morning to work, these two children sleeping here will somewhat delay his eldest grandson's work.

Mr. Li took the cotton-padded jacket from his grandson and handed one to Zhou Dalang: "I'm really sorry for not taking good care of the child today!"

Zhou Dalang lifted his son from the warm bed, took the thick cotton-padded jacket that Old Man Li handed over, and wrapped him in it. "I'm also responsible for this! How can I blame you?"

Tietou was picked up from the warm bed in a daze. He opened his eyes confusedly and found that it was his father. Then he fell asleep again with peace of mind, but murmured: "Dad, don't forget my rabbit lamp!"

Although the little guy had experienced that incident, he still held the rabbit lantern tightly in his hand. This was the first time that a friend gave him something, and Tietou cherished it very much.

It was already late at night, and the group did not delay any longer. They picked up the sleeping child and set out on their journey home under the faint moonlight.

The next day, when the family heard about what happened last night, they all felt relieved that they had survived the disaster.

Wu quickly cut a piece of meat and packed a bag of snacks, then handed them to Li Dalang: "Take the things and take this naughty boy with you to thank them!"

He poked his grandson's head as he sat by the charcoal stove, saying, "If Madam Liu hadn't stopped that kidnapper yesterday, you wouldn't be sitting here leisurely warming yourself by the fire today. Let's see if you dare to disobey me next time!"

Maomao walked to his father with a guilty conscience. It was indeed because of his playfulness that he almost got caught by the kidnappers. Now when he recalls it, the little guy is still very scared!

When Li Yan came to visit, she happened to see Maomao walking out with his father with his head down.

Li Yan curiously asked Wu who was standing by the door: "Grandma, what happened to Maomao?"

Mrs. Wu waved her hand nonchalantly, "It's just a childish temper. I've already scolded him."

Li Yan followed Wu into the house: "Grandma, where is my grandfather? I want him to help find someone to build a tofu workshop!"

Old Master Li, who had been frightened for most of the night, was resting in his room. Upon hearing his granddaughter's words, he immediately jumped out of bed, quickly put on his clothes, and shouted, "I'm here, I'm here. What are you looking for me for, little girl?"

Li Yan smiled and said, "Grandpa, the tofu my aunt made was very popular before the New Year, so I wanted to build a tofu workshop and raise more piglets!"

Li Yan detailed her plans to the two of them: "Don't worry about the pig feed. I've thought of everything. The bean dregs from the tofu workshop will be used to feed the pigs. We're going to reclaim wasteland this spring, and I've had Old Man Zhao pile up the animal manure to use as compost. It's really killing two birds with one stone."

The old couple looked at each other and did not refute. They had seen their granddaughter's way of making money in the past six months, and they thought this method was not bad.

Mr. Li asked, "When do you plan to start construction? Have you decided where to build the workshop?"

Li Yan said sweetly, "Of course, the sooner the better! Grandpa, I want to build a tofu workshop next to my house. When the time comes, we'll break through the wall and dig a well in the yard. That way, we'll have more water at home!" Right now, the family is relatively free. When spring comes, Li Yan will start busy planting forsythia cuttings, potatoes, and sweet potatoes! This is a big deal for Li Yan and can't be delayed.

"Okay, it won't take many people to build a workshop. I'll go to the village to find four more people. Together with your uncle and I, it will be enough!" After saying that, he put his hands behind his back, hummed a little tune and went out to look for people.

After Mr. Li left, Li Yan said to Mrs. Wu, "Grandma, we got too few chicks last time. I was worried about my lack of experience, so I didn't dare to raise them on a large scale. Now these chickens are growing well. It's a pity to only raise so few chickens in such a large area at the foot of the mountain!"

Mrs. Wu said, "You can raise them, but there's no need to buy them. The hens at home will hatch chicks in the spring. By then, the weather will be warmer, and the chicks will be more likely to survive!"

Li Yan shook her head and insisted, "Nana, the incubation time is too long. We can incubate and buy at the same time. This way, when the bigger ones are sold out, the smaller ones will have grown up!"

"You have a point. I'll go to Kangfang and take a look tomorrow!"

Now that there is some spare money at home, Li Yan starts to plan and make some money in her free time.
