Chapter 42 Bullying

Li Yan first walked to the boat dock, but did not find Zhou Bo, so she asked the boatmen around her how to get to his home.

An old boatman said: "Zhoujiazhuang is easy to find. Just walk along this road for half an hour and you will see a small village. That is Zhoujiazhuang."

Li Yan thanked the old boatman and walked in the direction he pointed. Not long after, she really saw a small village with about twenty households scattered around.

When Li Yan reached the entrance of the village, she smelled a fishy smell in the air. She was about to ask someone where Mr. Zhou's house was when she saw a group of children surrounding a younger child, pushing and shoving, and laughing.

When Li Yan got closer, she saw Tietou being ridden by a child of seven or eight years old. His little face was buried in the ground, and he was trying hard to get up with his limbs. However, the child was much stronger than him, and no matter how he struggled, it was of no use.

Li Yan's eyes immediately turned red, as she seemed to recall the scene of being bullied when she was young.

He ran forward a few steps, pulled the child off Tietou's body, and helped Tietou up.

The little guy seemed to have not expected that someone could save him. He was still in a daze. When he found out that it was the big sister who gave him the buns, his eyes turned red with grievance.

He brushed the dirt off the little boy and asked the older ones, "Why are you bullying him?"

The older children said: "He is a calamity star. He killed my mother, and now he is going to kill my father too."

Li Yan couldn't imagine what kind of person could say that about a child, and she retorted loudly, "Those who call others disaster stars are the real disaster stars. They have vicious words, evil intentions, and are as cruel as snakes and scorpions."

The children seemed to be frightened by her aura and ran away.

She gently touched Tietou's head and said, "Ignore them. Tietou will take my sister to your home!"

The little guy really couldn't hold it in any longer and started to cry. The more he cried, the sadder and more aggrieved he felt.

Li Yan felt sad when she saw this. She gently hugged Tietou in her arms and patted his back lightly.

Zhou Erlang was late because he went to buy medicine for his brother. As soon as he entered the village, he heard Li Yan scolding the children. He stood there in a daze, watching the little girl defending his family. A warm feeling filled his heart.

Seeing his nephew gradually calm down in his arms, Zhou Erlang hurried forward and wanted to take his nephew from the girl's hands.

Li Yan was just wondering how to get to Zhou's house when she saw Zhou Erlang coming in with a medicine bag. She said to him, "I can carry him. You lead the way."

The Zhou family’s house is actually not far away. It’s on the far right side of the intersection. It’s the first house along the path.

Standing at the door, Li Yan could take in the entire house. This family's house looked even more dilapidated than the Li family's. Made of yellow mud, only the main hall was intact. The west wing had half collapsed, and the kitchen was a makeshift shed made of thatch.

Li Yan followed Zhou Erlang into the house and saw Zhou Bo sorting out the fishing nets. After not seeing him for a while, Zhou Bo seemed to have aged a few years and his hair seemed to have turned a lot whiter.

Seeing Li Yan coming in with Tietou in her arms, Mr. Zhou was startled and quickly stood up to take Tietou.

Tietou had just cried and was too embarrassed to face Li Yan. After being picked up by his grandfather, he buried his face and didn't want to see anyone! "This child..." Zhou Bo touched his head dotingly.
