Chapter 623 Tasted Again and Again

Li Yan took the tofu and went straight to the kitchen to prepare stewing it.

She first asked her mother to boil water, and then prepared the onions and garlic that would be needed later.

When the water is hot, pour the cut tofu into the hot water and blanch it, then remove and set aside.

Heat oil in a pan, add chopped scallions, dried chilies, and crushed garlic into the pan and stir-fry until fragrant. Li Yan only added one chili pepper because she was worried that everyone might not be very receptive to it.

When the oil temperature rises, a spicy smell fills the kitchen.

Lin and Li Xiaomei had never smelled such a pungent smell, and they couldn't help but sneeze several times.

Li Xiaomei rubbed her itchy nose, moved away from the stove, and asked suspiciously, "Why does this smell so pungent?"

Li Yan smiled without saying a word, but continued to put the pickled bean paste into the pot. When the sauce became thick, she added water, poured in the blanched tofu, and finally added salt, sugar, soy sauce and other seasonings.

Stew over high heat. When it is almost time to serve, pour in starch water along the edge of the pot until the soup becomes thick. Serve in a bowl and sprinkle with chopped green onions.

When Li Erlang returned home and just walked into the yard, he smelled a strange smell coming from the kitchen. When he was about to go to the kitchen, he bumped into his daughter walking out with a bowl of rich food.

Li Yan said happily, "Dad, you're back just in time. The meal is just ready. I'll go give some to grandpa and grandma first. You can eat first without waiting for me!"

Before Li Erlang could ask what he wanted to ask, his daughter left in a hurry!

He walked to the kitchen door in two or three steps and wanted to ask his little sister what she had cooked.

Seeing that she was only focused on drinking water with her head down, she had no time to answer him, so Li Erlang turned his gaze to his wife who was smiling.

Lin carried the food and said to her husband with a smile, "The kitchen is stuffy, let's go to the main room to talk!"

Li Erlang stepped forward, took the big bowl from his wife's hand, and turned to go to the main room.

Li Yan walked into the courtyard carrying tofu. Maomao jumped in front of her second sister, tiptoed and asked eagerly, "Second sister, what delicious food did you make?"

Li Yan took two steps back and avoided the little guy's collision.

Daya hurried forward to pull the younger brother away, "Be careful, the bowl in my hand is hot."

Li Yan took a few quick steps and placed the bowl in her hand on the small table in the courtyard. She called out to the three people who were busy working in the courtyard, "Grandpa, Uncle, and Brother, come and try this tofu and see how it tastes."

When Maomao saw that his second sister brought tofu, he stopped asking to taste it.

This thing is eaten from time to time at home, so it is quite common, so he doesn't really want to eat it!

Old Master Li knew that his granddaughter was making food with the chili peppers, so he didn't bother to do any more work. He got up and went to the kitchen to wash his hands, picked up the chopsticks and went to taste it.

Mrs. Wu, who was making fire in the kitchen, looked at the old man, who looked so anxious, so she told her daughter-in-law to bring porridge to them. They ate the vegetables with nothing in their mouths and didn't even think it was too salty!

"Master, you have never tasted this, so eat a little to see how it tastes!" Li Yan reminded.

Reminded by Li Yan, several people took a small piece and put it in their mouths. A spicy taste spread from the tip of their tongue. Old man Li couldn't help but cough a few times. The uncle and cousin were also stimulated by the spicy taste and their faces turned red.

Maomao turned his little head and blinked his ignorant big eyes. He looked at his grandfather for a while, then looked at the embarrassment of his father and elder brother. Driven by curiosity, he picked up the chopsticks, picked up a piece and put it in his mouth. It was salty, spicy, tender and smooth. All the flavors spread on the tip of his tongue, and the hot feeling instantly filled his mouth.

But he couldn't bear to spit out the food in his mouth. After swallowing it in one gulp, he couldn't help but scream, "Sister, my mouth is on fire!"

Seeing this, Daya hurriedly poured him a bowl of cold water and asked him to rinse his mouth.

When the burning sensation in his mouth was no longer so severe, he picked up his chopsticks and wanted to eat more.

This is what spicy food is like. When you first taste it, you just feel it is extremely spicy, but after the spicy taste wears off, it seems to be addictive and you will want to taste it again and again.

The same was true for the others, especially the uncle and cousin, who were obviously quicker to accept it. Li Yan watched as they went from only daring to taste a tiny bit to putting a whole piece in their mouths in just a few breaths.

Old Master Li put down his chopsticks. He was a little older and didn't accept spicy food as quickly as his children and grandchildren, but he had a vague feeling that the more he ate, the more he wanted to eat. After taking one bite, he wanted to try a second bite.

After this taste test, he now completely believes that this product will have no problem selling, and the concerns he had in his heart have disappeared!

Li Yan saw her grandfather put down his chopsticks, so she asked him how he felt.

Before Mr. Li could answer, Li Jianming spoke first, "I always want to try this spicy flavor again and again. I always feel like I can't get enough."

Mr. Li nodded in agreement. He was the same.

"As long as you like it, big brother. You guys can enjoy your meal. I'm going back first!"

When Li Yan turned around to go out, she met her aunt who was carrying porridge.

"Are you going back now? Eat here before going back?" Mrs. Liu stopped Li Yan who was about to leave.

Now life at home is getting better and better. My son, daughter and husband are all in important positions, and I can even work in a fermented bean curd workshop.

Now if anyone outsiders gossips in front of her and implies that her niece is not good, she will argue with them.

Li Yan stopped and said with a smile: "No, aunt, the food is ready at home, and my parents are waiting for me."

Liu didn't keep the person and after he left, she carried the porridge to the small table in the yard.

When I got closer, I saw that the youngest son's cheeks were red, and he was breathing heavily with his mouth open, but his hands were moving non-stop!

Mrs. Liu put the porridge on the table and watched her youngest son eating with sweat all over his face and head but refusing to stop. Her eldest son and husband were in a similar state, with red faces and sweating profusely.

Mrs. Liu wiped the sweat off her youngest son's forehead with a handkerchief and said angrily, "Is it really that delicious? You don't usually seem to like tofu that much, and you didn't even bother to wipe the sweat off your forehead!"

Mao Mao obediently let his mother wipe the sweat off his face. Then he casually picked up a piece of tofu with chopsticks and brought it to his mother's mouth. He blinked his bright eyes and said, "Mom, try it. It's delicious!"

Mrs. Liu was very considerate and tasted the tofu with a chopstick. It was so spicy that she immediately picked up the water in her son's bowl and drank it!

Maomao saw that her mother also wanted to drink water because of the spicy food, and she laughed with her mouth full of sauce!

Even when Li Yan walked into her own yard, she could still hear the child's silver bell-like laughter.
