The boat rocked violently, creating a vast expanse of shimmering waves that spread far into the distance. Xu Feng, clutching his soaked clothes and wiping his wet hair, hurried back with long strides.
When he finally returned to the place, he was surprised to find that only the small boat was floating alone on the water, and his sister, who was supposed to be waiting for his return on the boat, was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's my sister? Why is she gone?" Xu Feng's eyes widened. At this moment, Penny turned around and looked at him in shock, her face pale from excessive shock.
"Xiao Ni'er, has my second sister gone back? Didn't we agree to wait here together for me to come back..." Xu Feng's tone was full of doubts. He kept looking around, trying to find Xu Ning.
Pei Ni looked at Xu Feng who was aimlessly looking for someone on the shore, bit her lip lightly, and then whispered: "Xiao Feng, your second sister is still in the boat."
"Ah? The fish hasn't been pulled back yet?" Xu Feng was stunned at first, then he looked towards the boat and searched carefully. Sure enough, he saw the familiar corner of clothes.
"Second sister! Second sister!"
Xu Ning heard Xu Feng's cry, and her body suddenly stiffened. She tried to struggle to get up. However, as soon as she moved, she couldn't help but let out a painful groan from the person below her.
"Where...are you hurt?" Xu Ning's face was filled with anxiety. She hurriedly climbed off Jiang Yan's body, almost falling back into the lake due to her haste. After finally stabilizing herself, she anxiously rolled over, her eyes fixed on Jiang Yan, her expression extremely nervous.
Jiang Yan's delicate face was as pale as a sheet of white paper. He held his lower back with one hand, and beads of sweat appeared on his forehead. Despite this, he still endured the pain and tried to force a smile to comfort Xu Ning: "Don't worry, it's just an accidental bump, it's nothing serious. But this fish... did it get away?"
Hearing this, Xu Ning instinctively turned his head to look. Sure enough! The fish had already vanished without a trace. And their fishing rod, already pulled away by the fish's powerful force, now floated alone on the water not far from the boat, swaying gently with the waves.
However, at this moment, for Xu Ning, is the fish really the most important thing? Obviously not! More important than a fish is whether Jiang Yan is okay!
After all, the safety of a friend is far more important than anything else. Thinking of this, Xu Ning quickly turned his gaze back to Jiang Yan and asked with concern, "You said you were fine, but you're in so much pain. Why don't we go back to shore and take a look?"
Xu Ning didn't dare to move him and could only row back to the shore quickly. Xu Feng shouted at the top of his lungs for a long time, but Xu Ning still ignored him.
In desperation, Xu Feng had to give up and stop wasting his energy.
When Xu Ning finally stepped onto the shore, Xu Feng immediately rushed forward, but the scene in front of him left him dumbfounded - he saw Jiang Yan holding his waist with one hand and the other hand on Xu Ning's shoulder, and Xu Ning carefully supported him to walk down the small boat.
"Second sister...you...you...what's going on with Young Master Jiang?" Xu Feng's face was full of astonishment, and his speech became a little stuttering.
"Hmph! It's all because of that damn fish! Stop nagging here and go see if the fish is still there. I have to send Young Master Jiang back to rest first. He accidentally hit his waist." Xu Ning answered Xu Feng unhappily, his words full of anxiety and worry.
"Oh... okay, second sister, you go and take care of Young Master Jiang. I'll go take a look right away. Little Ni, come and help me row the boat for a while... Hey? Where did this person go?" Xu Feng responded to his sister's instructions while turning around to look for Pei Ni.
But he didn't expect that when Pei Ni saw that Jiang Yan was injured, she didn't even bother to listen to Xu Feng's words, and turned back without hesitation, disappearing from Xu Feng's sight in an instant.
Xu Feng watched Penny's retreating figure, shaking his head and laughing. There was no other way, he could only rely on himself. So, he took up the oars and began rowing alone. When he picked up the fishing rod, he found the fish still obediently attached to the hook, not escaping. Xu Feng breathed a sigh of relief, and after a lot of effort, he finally brought the fish back before noon.
As Xu Feng, humming a little tune and joyfully carrying a twenty-pound fish, walked into the courtyard, he happened to run into Old Lady Xu, who had just hurried back after hearing the news. She was standing there, scolding Xu Ning in a low voice. Meanwhile, Jiang Yan had already been given medicine and sent back to his room to rest.
"Oh my, Grandma, the real 'culprit' is right here! Why are you blaming my second sister?" Xu Feng shouted as he quickly walked over to Old Lady Xu and, without a word, shoved the heavy, lively fish into her arms. However, he didn't dare let go completely, still holding most of the weight with his hands.
Old Mrs. Xu was startled at first, then she scolded him, "You are such a worrying kid."
Xu Feng, however, didn't take it seriously. He said with a smile, "Grandma, I've brought some delicious food for our family! Look at this big, fat fish. Let's kill it and make fish balls. Then we can let Young Master Jiang have a couple of bowls to vent his anger. Who knows, maybe he'll feel better after he finishes it!"
Old Mrs. Xu shook her head helplessly and sighed, "I really can't do anything about you little brats. Alright, alright, hurry up and carry the fish to the kitchen!"
"Understood!" Xu Feng responded, walking towards the kitchen happily. As he passed by Xu Ning, he winked at her playfully. His quirky look made Xu Ning, who was originally in a somewhat low mood, burst out laughing.
"Bao, is Jiang Shaoheng really okay?" Xu Ning asked the treasure chest again worriedly. The treasure chest continued to repeat: "It's okay, the player, use the traumatic wine produced by the system. I guarantee that he will be completely healed without any side effects in less than half a month!"
The half-month period was an exaggeration by the treasure chest. With Jiang Yi's internal force pressing and clearing the blockage, there was no problem with Jiang Yan the next day.
Xu Ning felt very bad, mainly because he had caused someone to get injured.
"Oh, player, you have no idea how happy he is right now!" Although Xu Laisen hoped his daughter would marry Jiang Yan, he didn't want his daughter to be unhappy because of him. Therefore, noticing Xu Ning's low mood, Xu Laisen immediately put aside his research and replaced the intelligent system with his precious daughter.
"Why?"
"Player, why don't you look in the mirror?" The old father wanted to tell his daughter not to feel sorry for the man, but when he thought about the fact that his daughter had just shown some signs of love, he decided not to say anything for the time being.
Xu Ning took out a makeup mirror from her arms and was stunned when she saw herself in the mirror. She looked a little different from herself.
"Ningning, where's Ayan?"
