Chapter 115 One Room to Support One Person
Perhaps it was her father's hot tea that had a soothing effect, and the east wing became quiet.
Gu Tang stood at the door of the kitchen and kept looking over there, feeling nervous, wondering if the eldest wife's family had done something bad that they were hiding.
She wanted to go over and eavesdrop on what was said, but out of the corner of her eye she saw Gu Laian coming out of the house, glancing at her with a thieving look on his face.
Gu Tang's face turned cold. What? He wanted to break into the kitchen and steal things?
I turned around and glanced at the kitchen. There were two rice bowls on the chopping board, one with chopped chicken pieces and the other with sliced meat.
There is nothing else.
Did he want to steal raw meat?
Gu Tang went to the stove and took out a straight piece of firewood, held it in his hand and went to find Gu Laian.
Gu Laian was still looking at the kitchen with a sly look in his eyes, when he saw Gu Tang suddenly come out of the kitchen carrying firewood. His face turned pale and he turned around and went into the house.
"Stop! If you dare to go back to the house, I will break your legs today!" Gu Tang lowered his voice and shouted, scaring the man so much that he froze in place and dared not move.
Coming up to him, she asked him impatiently, "What were you looking at just now? Is there anything in the kitchen that you're interested in?"
Gu Laian lowered his head, stammering and unable to speak.
"Hurry up and tell me! The clan leader is at home today. If Dad knows that you are restless again, I will chop off your hands!"
Gu Laian shuddered all over and dared not hide it anymore: "I saw Ping'an carrying several earthenware jars from the east wing into the kitchen, so I wanted to go into the kitchen to see what good stuff it was..."
Gu Tang was speechless and couldn't help but hit him with the firewood in his hand!
"You short-sighted thing! Think carefully with your pig brain. What good things can be moved into the kitchen? Who would move good things into the kitchen? Are you afraid that the thief won't be able to steal them?"
Gu Laian was stunned immediately. Yes, whose good things would go into the kitchen?
Gu Laian felt embarrassed and uncomfortable, thinking that he had caused a misunderstanding.
"Go back to your room. Today is Dad's birthday. If you dare to go out and disappear, you can forget about coming back to this house!"
Gu Laian was dissatisfied. What if it was his father's birthday? It wasn't his birthday! Who cared?
Although he thought this in his heart, he dared not show any dissatisfaction on his face.
He nodded obediently and quickly ran into the house.
Gu Tang couldn't stand his behavior, rolled his eyes, and went back to the kitchen in a bad mood.
Throwing the firewood back, she looked around the kitchen again. She didn't see any extra earthenware jars, but there was a large vat with a lid on it behind the stove.
He walked forward, lifted the lid, and found four earthen jars in the large vat.
When they pulled out the stopper from the earthen jar, they found three jars of oil and one jar of salt inside.
Thinking of what Gu Laian had just said, Gu Tang suddenly realized that this was probably hidden by Feng.
Not long after, Gu Ping'an, who had gone out to deliver the copper coins, came back.
When they entered the kitchen, Gu Tang pointed at the things in the jar and asked him, "Did grandma hide it?"
"Second sister is so smart! That's right, these were all hidden by grandma." Gu Ping'an smiled and gave her a thumbs up.
"Stop talking nonsense. Where is the key to the east wing?" Gu Tang stretched out his hand and asked him for the key.
Gu Ping'an took out the key from his arms and handed it over: "Dad said before, when you come back, take some time to go to the east ear room and look through the things inside to see if grandma has hidden other good things. As long as it's pleasing to the eye, Dad said, move it all to our second room!"
A look of joy flashed across Gu Tang's face and she grasped the key in her hand. She loved "treasure hunting" the most!
However, I'm afraid it's not convenient today.
"Today is Dad's birthday, so it's not a good time to do anything. Let's wait until tomorrow! Go find Doctor Gu this afternoon and tell him that Grandma can't stand her half-paralysis and has been making a fuss. Ask Doctor Gu to get two packets of tranquilizing soup and boil it tomorrow to feed them so that they won't be disturbed by the noise of me rummaging around."
"Oh!" Gu Ping'an responded happily.
The brother and sister had just finished talking when they heard a noise in the yard. They went out to take a look and saw that it was Patriarch Gu coming out from the east wing.
Clan leader Gu, who came out from the east wing, still had an angry look on his face. He ignored Gu Lianshan's attempts to keep him. He waved his hand and left the Gu family.
Gu Lianshan hurriedly followed and sent the person to the village entrance. He returned after a while.
Seeing her father coming back, Gu Tang hurried over to him and asked, "How is it? Did the clan leader scold my uncle?"
"It's more than just scolding." Gu Lianshan raised his voice and deliberately spoke to the main hall and the east wing without concealing his voice.
"The clan leader said that your grandparents' illness is a great burden, and we can't rely on just one son. Your uncle is the eldest son, so he should bear the majority of the burden. However, considering that your uncle is a lazy scholar, he asked your father and I to help bear half of the burden. He said that he would go back and discuss it with the elders in the clan, and let them decide to let us split up the family. We will each support your grandparents."
One room to support one person?
Gu Tang blinked and suddenly laughed, "Okay! We will help uncle solve his problems. Dad, please talk to the clan leader and ask him to give my grandmother to our family. My grandmother and I have a special bond. When we are together, we have endless things to talk about!"
Gu Lianshan paused, and understood what his daughter meant. He did not reject her proposal, and responded loudly: "After dinner, I will go and tell them to give me your milk in the afternoon!"
Just as these words were about to fall, there came a weak shout from the main hall: "Second brother! Second brother! Your mother has fainted again! Hurry and call a doctor!"
The father and daughter looked at each other, with a guilty look in their eyes. Doctor Gu had told them yesterday that they should not get angry anymore, and they had made him angry again today.
"Would you like to see a doctor?" Gu Tang asked her father breathlessly.
Gu Lianshan shook his head quickly, "We can't invite him! The clan leader is leaving home soon. If we go to invite a doctor right away, what will it look like if the news gets out? There is still some medicine left from Doctor Gu's prescription yesterday. Dad will make a packet for your grandmother to drink and wait and see.
If he still doesn't wake up after a while, we can talk about calling a doctor. He survived yesterday's serious condition, so he will be fine today!"
Okay, let’s do this for now.
Gu Tang turned around and called Gu Ping'an, asking him to move the stove out of the kitchen.
Gu Lianshan first went into the east room of the main hall and took a few looks. After confirming that the person had really fainted, he took out the medicine bag and boiled the medicine.
Old Man Gu didn't believe him. He thought that his son knew about the past and was now full of hatred. He deliberately didn't go to see a doctor just to let his wife die of illness!
He struggled to get up, took his crutches, and staggered to the east wing to find his eldest son, wanting him to go and invite Doctor Gu.
Gu Lianshan ignored him and let him go to the east wing.
Unfortunately, Mr. Gu overestimated his physical condition. After taking a few steps, his vision went dark and he fell to the ground unconscious.
Gu Lianshan saw it all happening and immediately felt overwhelmed.
You are already so sick, why are you still struggling? Do you think your life is too long?
