Los's Injustice (Revised)
Fussen town, commercial street.
In a magic potion shop with a large storefront and low-key decoration, but exuding an expensive atmosphere, Ross, who was dressed in ordinary clothes, was standing uncomfortably. His uneasy look was like a rabbit that had strayed into a tiger's den, which was particularly inconsistent with the temperament of the entire store.
"Hello, sir. What would you like to buy?" The shop assistant came forward and greeted the customer with a smile.
Seeing the waiter coming over, Los nervously clenched the purse in his hand. This was his first time in such a store, which was obviously extremely expensive and not a store that ordinary people could enter. If the Viscountess had not left money specifically for the cow's recovery, and the cow's injuries had worsened, he would never have come here.
Los's tongue was a little tied: "I, I want to buy, a cure."
The man still smiled: "What kind of injury do you want to treat?"
"Fall, fracture." Los described the symptoms again, "redness, swelling, fever, and yellow pus."
"I understand." The waiter enthusiastically pulled Ross's sleeve and led him to the pharmacy shelf. "Sir, please look this way."
Three layers of bottles are neatly placed on the pharmacy shelf. Each bottle is different. Some are glass bottles, some are metal bottles, and some are ceramic bottles. However, the bottles all have long necks and round bellies. The long necks fit perfectly into the special movable grooves on the shelf. This design can lock the bottles on the shelf to prevent them from being knocked down or stolen.
The waiter raised his hand and pointed at three bottles. "These are all potions for healing broken bones. This one is the most effective. It works immediately after drinking it, and the wound will heal completely within a day. The price is 2 silver coins. This one is also good. It can quickly eliminate negative status, stop bleeding, reduce swelling, and pus. The bone will heal within ten days. The price is 1 silver coin. This one is also very popular. It's reasonably priced and effective. The bone will heal within twenty days. However, the pain relief effect is not as good as the first two bottles. The price is 70 copper coins."
Los listened and compared, then asked, "How is the dosage of the potion calculated?"
"It's calculated based on the patient's weight. 1 gram of medicine is used for every 20 pounds of body weight. The medicine sold in our store is in a bottle of 10 grams, which is enough." The clerk replied.
Ross counted on his fingers.
An adult cow weighs about 400 pounds, which is more than 20 grams when converted into potion, which means more than two bottles of potion. For five cows, that's how much is that?
Los squatted down as usual, trying to make some moves on the muddy ground.
Well, this is a pharmacy, there's no dirt on the ground.
Los stood up awkwardly. "Um, I also want to ask, is the dosage for animals the same as for humans?"
The waiter continued to work with a smile. "Sir, are you buying potions for your pet? If it's a pet, you won't need these potions. You'll need special potions for pets. They're over there."
Ross quickly waved his hands: "No, it's not a familiar, it's an animal, a cow."
The waiter's business smile froze. "Customer, are you kidding me? For cows? Just the regular ones, not the ones from World of Warcraft. Cows?"
Ross nodded: "Yes."
The guy's face turned red instantly, he raised his hand and pointed to the door: "Get lost."
Los was stunned.
"What, what's wrong?" Los was tongue-tied again due to nervousness.
The man put on a mocking expression. "Who do you think this is? How dare you come here and tease us? Buying potions for cows? Ha, open your eyes and take a good look. This is a magic potion shop. It's a shop that provides potions for people and magical pets. It's not a veterinary clinic. You can see anything, including cows, horses, and sewage tanks."
Los' face turned red, his blood rushed to his head, and his whole body trembled, but not because of anger, but because of shame.
The waiter continued to taunt him, "Who dares to come in and buy things? You're so dirty, I thought you were buying medicine for your master. Fortunately, I greeted you with a smile and introduced the medicine to you in a friendly manner. Turns out you're just a lowly person, buying medicine for your cow? Ha, if your cow is sick, you should go to the vet. Why come to our store? Do you dare to come here if you can afford it?"
"I, I just want to ask." Los said hesitantly.
"Bah, asking, asking doesn't take time? You're wasting my time and energy." The guy retorted.
Los clutched his purse tightly: "I, I have money."
"You have money?" The guy rolled his eyes. "A few copper coins?"
"I have silver coins, 10 silver coins, enough, enough to buy it." Los was embarrassed and angry, and opened his purse.
Unexpectedly, when the guy saw the silver coins he took out, his expression became even more ferocious.
"Where did you get this money?" The waiter grabbed Ross's clothes and raised his voice. "How did you, a lowly person, get so much money? Ah, you are a thief, right? Where did you steal it from? Did you steal it from our customers?"
Although the waiter had been mocking before, his voice was not loud and did not affect the other customers in the restaurant. But now his voice suddenly became louder and immediately attracted the attention of other people in the store.
When the guests heard the last sentence, they all felt into their purses.
The store manager and other employees who hadn't received any customers also gathered around.
Los was dumbfounded, the blood in his body rushed to his head, his mind went blank. It was the first time in his life that he was slandered so unreasonably. In his anger, he didn't know how to react.
"You, you're talking nonsense." Loska took a long time to utter these words.
The clerk didn't listen to him and shouted to the store manager: "Manager, there's a thief here."
Upon hearing this, the store manager immediately called a nearby waiter and said, "Quick, go get the sheriff."
The commercial street was not far from the administrative office, and the clerk at the pharmacy quickly called the sheriff.
The sheriff was a middle-aged man with a bald head, only a circle of thin hair on the edge, and a pot belly.
The sheriff glanced at Ross, who was being held by two assistants, and asked the pharmacy manager, "Is this the thief?"
Los immediately struggled to defend himself: "I'm not a thief, I'm a customer who came to buy something."
The store manager ignored Los and said, "Yes, that's him."
The store manager handed the sheriff the purse he had forcibly pulled from Los. "Please look, there are 10 silver coins in this purse. How could someone like him have so much money?"
The sheriff took the purse and examined it. "Indeed, it's very suspicious."
Los argued loudly: "This is my money, I didn't steal it, I'm not a thief, this money belongs to the lady, the viscount..."
"Shut his mouth." The store manager raised his hand, and immediately a smart waiter stuffed a cloth into Los's mouth. The store manager closed his eyes and sighed softly, "It's so noisy."
The sheriff's face turned serious. He said to Los, "Stop making such loud excuses. The louder you are, the more right you are. I've seen people like you before. The louder you are, the more guilty you seem. Let's go. When we get there, you can explain the source of the money to me. Don't bother disrupting other people's business now."
The sheriff turned to the store manager and said, "I'm taking him away."
The store manager smiled.
The two exchanged glances, confirming with each other what to do next.
The sheriff, carrying the money bag, turned and walked towards the store door.
The crowd gathered at the store door suddenly parted, revealing a slender figure behind.
A person who should never appear at this time appeared.
The Viscountess, who was guarded by two knights, looked at him with a faint smile on her face, her eyes seemed to see through everything.
The sheriff swallowed unconsciously, and for some reason his scalp felt tingling, as if his underlying purpose had been seen through.
Obviously, he hasn't had time to do anything yet.
"Good morning, dear Viscountess Field." The sheriff put his left hand behind his back, stroked his chest with his right hand, and bowed to the Viscountess.
Elena walked straight into the pharmacy, walked past the sheriff and the manager, and came to Los.
There was surprise in Los' eyes, and he was mumbling something with his blocked mouth.
"Let him go." Elena said lightly.
The two guys holding Los trembled all over, lowered their heads, retracted their hands and let go of Los.
Ross took the rag out of his mouth and said hurriedly: "Miss Viscount..."
As soon as he started talking, Los reacted and quickly knelt down: "Los kneels to see the Viscountess."
"Get up and tell me what happened," Elena said.
Ross stood up, but still bent over, not daring to look directly at her. "Miss Viscount, I followed your instructions to treat the injured cattle, but I don't know where I went wrong. The injuries on the five cattle didn't get better, and instead they developed yellow pus. So, that's why I came here to buy medicine."
Elena nodded calmly: "And then?"
"Everything was fine before. The guy in the store was very enthusiastic about introducing the potion to me. But when I asked him if the dosage for cows was the same as for humans, he suddenly became very angry and said that the potions here were only sold to humans and magical pets, not cows. I said I had money and took out the money to show him, but he got even angrier and insisted that I was a thief. The store manager didn't listen to my explanation and just put me up and called the sheriff. The sheriff didn't believe me either and said he would take me away for interrogation, and then, you came." Los lowered his head, his voice was muffled, and he was in a very low mood. This was the first time in his life that he was suspected, and it was three times in a row, by different people. The strong feeling of being excluded and isolated made Los very depressed and sad.
Elena asked him: "Did he tell them that I gave you this money?"
Ross sniffed the water in his nose and said, "I didn't have time. They thought I was noisy and blocked my mouth."
Elena smiled and turned to look at the sheriff: "Not giving the suspect a chance to defend himself, is this how you do things as a sheriff?"
The sheriff quickly shook his head and denied it. "No, no, no, I just want to take him back and question him slowly. He's making a lot of noise here, and it will affect the pharmacy's business."
"Really? But I clearly heard that you have already determined that he is a thief, and you don't want to hear his explanation at all." Elena looked at the sheriff, her eyes clear but sharp, with an authority that did not allow for any excuses.
The sheriff's throat moved, but he was too choked to speak.
He wanted to secretly take a look at the Viscountess's expression, but he didn't expect that the Viscountess was staring at him. He was so frightened by the Viscountess's clear eyes that he quickly lowered his head.
It's strange. The Viscountess is still a child, only 15 years old. She has not experienced anything since childhood, and I have never heard of her having any talents. How can she be so powerful?
The sheriff muttered, bending down and lowering his head. "You are right, Viscountess. I was wrong. I shouldn't have listened to one side of the story and believed it. I shouldn't have concluded that his money was ill-gotten just because he was dressed so poorly. I was wrong."
"Is it just because of this?" Elena smiled and nodded slightly, her eyes passing him and falling on the group of people watching the excitement at the door of the store.
"It seems that I am still too young and have no deterrent effect on you, so you dare to fool me so unscrupulously."
???
!!!
The sheriff's alarm bells were ringing wildly, and he quickly looked up and wanted to say something.
A bright light rushed towards him.
